Super Bowl halftime performer arrested after Sudan and Gaza protest during Kendrick Lamar's set
Louisiana State Police confirmed the arrest on June 26, stating that Nantambu surrendered through coordination with his legal team. He faces charges of resisting an officer and disturbing the peace by interruption of a lawful assembly.
The protest occurred on 9 February 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. During Lamar's performance of 'TV Off,' Nantambu deviated from the choreographed routine, waving a flag with the words 'SUDAN' and 'GAZA' across it. Security quickly intervened, and he was detained by New Orleans police. While initially released without charges, he was banned for life from NFL stadiums and events.
In a statement at the time, Super Bowl Halftime Show organisers clarified that no production staff were aware of Nantambu's intentions. Louisiana State Police later assumed investigative responsibility, reviewing security protocols in cooperation with the NFL and local law enforcement.
Speaking to NBC News after the event, Nantambu explained his actions were meant to highlight the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Sudan. He called on President Donald Trump to 'be empathetic and compassionate' and to 'do what is right by the Palestinians… and if he can, help the Sudanese.'

Things we learned from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast conversation
Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce shared personal stories, career parallels, and new music details during a lengthy episode of the New Heights podcast, which Kelce co-hosts with his brother Jason. Swift recalled how Kelce first expressed interest in dating her on the podcast after failing to meet her at an Eras Tour show. She described his direct approach as a 'wild, romantic gesture' reminiscent of an '80s movie scene, calling him 'a human exclamation point.' Despite normally avoiding unsolicited messages, she said his openness intrigued her. The couple also discussed managing intense public scrutiny, with Swift noting her two decades in the industry have made her resilient, while Kelce said he learned professionalism from her when facing 'wacko theories.' Both compared the physical demands of their careers, with Swift training for her three-hour Eras Tour shows by running full speed on a treadmill while singing. She noted the constant discomfort, blisters, and need for recovery routines—parallels Kelce recognized from professional football. A major focus was Swift's decade-long effort to reclaim her master recordings, sold without her consent. She said she had been saving since her teens and sent her mother and brother to negotiate directly with Shamrock Capital. When they succeeded, she collapsed in tears, describing the albums as her 'handwritten diary entries.' Swift also discussed her use of musical 'Easter eggs,' stressing they always connect to her work, not her personal life. She revealed that her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, out 3 October, is inspired by behind-the-scenes moments from the Eras Tour. Kelce described the record as 'upbeat' and a sharp contrast to The Tortured Poets Department. The episode closed on a lighter note, with the couple sharing their 'sourdough obsession' and Kelce's fascination with otters.

Taylor Swift reveals new album and relationship details on Travis Kelce podcast
Taylor Swift offered rare personal insights and revealed details about her upcoming album during an appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason Kelce. The singer announced that her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, will be released on 3 October. She described writing the record while on her Eras Tour, often traveling to Sweden between European shows to record. The album's cover features Swift in a diamond-covered dress submerged in turquoise water. Travis called the work 'upbeat,' contrasting it with her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department. One track will feature Sabrina Carpenter. Swift discussed her use of 'Easter eggs' in music, saying they always connect to her work rather than her personal life. She highlighted her fondness for numbers, noting the significance of 13 (her favorite) and 87 (Travis's jersey number), and joked about complex hidden messages crafted 'upside down' or 'in Braille.' She also grew emotional recounting her decade-long effort to acquire the master recordings for her first six albums, describing the music as her 'handwritten diary entries.' She credited fans for supporting her re-recorded 'Taylor's Versions,' saying their attendance at the Eras Tour enabled her to repurchase the catalog. Turning to her personal life, Swift credited the podcast for sparking her romance with Travis, referencing a viral 2023 clip where he expressed interest in meeting her. She called him 'the good kind of crazy' and joked that he is 'a human exclamation point.' She admitted knowing little about football before dating him but now follows the sport closely.
