Vishnu Manchu starrer mythological drama 'Kannappa' continues its theatrical run with modest numbers as it enters the midweek phase. Released on June 27, the film features a star-studded cast that includes cameo appearances by some of Indian cinema's biggest names, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal.
However, after a promising opening weekend, the film has seen a gradual dip in collections.
According to trade tracking portal Sacnilk, 'Kannappa' earned an estimated Rs 1.15 crore on Day 6, Wednesday, the lowest single-day collection so far for the film. With this, the total collection now stands at approximately Rs 27.5 crore.
The film had a powerful start at the box office, raking in Rs 9.35 crore on its opening Friday, followed by Rs 7.15 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.9 crore on Sunday.
However, as is often the case with most theatrical releases, weekday earnings saw a dip, Rs 2.3 crore on Monday and Rs 1.8 crore on Tuesday.
Theatre occupancy
In terms of occupancy, the Telugu version, unsurprisingly the most dominant contributor to the film's revenue, recorded an overall occupancy of 12.54% on Wednesday, July 2. The breakdown shows morning shows at 11.44%, afternoon at 12.37%, evening at 13.68%, and night shows closing at 12.68%.

The Hindi version, however, reflected a more subdued response. The film saw an overall occupancy of 6.84% in Hindi belts. Morning shows were the lowest at 3.78%, with a gradual increase through the day, 6.86% in the afternoon, 6.71% in the evening, and peaking at 10.01% during the night shows. While not a major contributor, the Hindi version has managed to hold its ground in select pockets.
About the film
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, 'Kannappa' is a mythological epic that tells the story of Thinnadu, a fearless warrior who, from being an atheist, ultimately becomes a faithful devotee of Lord Shiva.
It also features Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, Preity Mukhundhan, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmaji, Brahmanandam, and others.
Etimes review for the film reads, "Kannappa scores high on visual and musical impact. Sheldon Chau's cinematography captures the beauty of forested landscapes and celestial moments with finesse, giving the film a rich visual texture. Some of the VFX elements fall short of the film's ambition, but the overall sincerity of the production shines through."
The pan-India film has been released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
Despite the star power and grand scale, 'Kannappa' faced significant challenges from piracy soon after its release. Within days, over 30,000 illegal online links distributing pirated versions of the film were identified and taken down by the team. Vishnu Manchu publicly condemned piracy, urging fans not to watch or share pirated content and to support cinema through legal means. He wrote, "Piracy is theft — plain and simple.
We don't teach our children to steal. Watching pirated content is no different. Please don't encourage it. Support cinema the right way."

CM Punk takes jab on John Cena reminiscent to AJ Lee's mockery on Nikki Bella

Image via WWE WWE Universe witnessed the last chapter in the storied rivalry of John Cena and CM Punk. It saw a recreation of their classic feud and throwback moments brought to life. One of them saw John Cena delivering a parody of Punk's infamous pipebomb. The Best in the World bounced back by impersonating Cena's popular 'Doctor of Thuganomics' gimmick. However, that brought back memories that related to the time Punk's real-life wife, AJ Lee, and Cena's ex-girlfriend, Nikki Bella , were feuding on WWE television programming. CM Punk's wife, AJ Lee, mocked John Cena's ex, Nikki Bella, years ago In 2014, AJ Lee was the reigning WWE Divas Champion and was embroiled in a feud with Nikki Bella. The duo was set to collide in a match on RAW. The Black Widow played mind games of her own by coming out dressed as The Fearless One, donning her outfit, and impersonating her mannerisms. Bella was visibly furious at witnessing a mockery made out of her personality. However, she did have the last laugh on AJ Lee when she defeated her in mere seconds at the Survivor Series pay-per-view to win the WWE Divas Championship and went on to set the record for the longest title reign in history. Years later, CM Punk borrowed a page from his now wife, AJ Lee's playbook and used it to mock Nikki Bella's ex-boyfriend, John Cena. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo On the SmackDown before the Night of Champions Premium Live Event, Punk came out dressed as The Doctor of Thuganomics. However, much like Nikki Bella, Cena defeated AJ Lee's husband and retained the Undisputed WWE Championship at the 2025 Night of Champions PLE that took place on June 28 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. ‘You don't get to decide who's a doctor': Vidit Gujrathi lashes out at Liver Doc over Doctor's Day jibe

Indian Chess Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi has called hepatologist Dr Cyriac Abby Philips, popular as The Liver Doc, a 'troll' amid their ongoing online spat. A Doctor's Day post made 'out of gratitude' by Gujrathi prompted a full-scale X war after Liver Doc commented on the picture that featured the chess GM's family members. Vidit Gujrathi accused Liver Doc of mocking his family after he remarked on the chess grandmaster's Doctor's Day post. (X/@theliverdr, @viditchess) What did Vidit Gujrathi say? 'I made a simple post out of gratitude. I chose silence at first, because not every conversation deserves a response. But when it turned into mocking my family, I stepped in,' he wrote. 'If that means stepping out of my lane, so be it. You and trolls like you don't get to decide who's a doctor. You have no authority to define others lives or dismiss their work. I've said my part. Now, back to what actually matters. No time for noise,' he added. What started it all? The post came as a response to Philips' reply to Gujrathi, who lashed out at him for writing, 'I am sorry, but none of them are really doctors' on a picture showing Gujrathi's family. Earlier, in response to a comment on the picture, Gujarati shared the professional specialities of his family members. 'My father is an Ayurvedic migraine specialist, my wife is an MD homoeopathy, my mom does cosmetology, and my sister is a physiotherapist.' In another post shared earlier, Liver Doc said he didn't mean to offend Gujrathi but added, 'I was stating plain facts from a professional standpoint, and I do not mince my words. You may call that ego or whatever, to console yourself, no problem.' 'I am staying in my lane and always have. Calling out medical misinformation is what I do apart from being a full-time doctor. I suggest you stay in your lane and discuss more on chess. Sorry for the checkmate,' the Liv Doc further added.

Modi also wrote a few words for Mallya. After thanking his guests, he shared, 'And to Vijay Mallya for his everlasting spirit of being there for me. Hope this video does not break the internet. Controversial for sure. But that what I do best.' Take a look at the video: What did social media say? While many reacted with hilarity, a few slammed and labelled them 'fugitives.' An individual posted, 'Sad reality that all fugitives are enjoying lavish lives after looting money from the Indian public.' Another added, 'I was waiting for the invitation. Hope I get it next summer.' A third commented, 'All, Please visit India.' A fourth wrote, 'Nazar na lage app dono ko.' In another post, Lalit Modi wrote about meeting Chris Gayle at his home in London. 'With the man himself the one and only #universeboss Chris Gayle at my home in London for my summer party. Presented me with his bat with which he scored the highest ever total by an individual person in an T20 match in 2013 for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru of 175 runs in just 66 balls. What an inning that was. And he was not out. The greatest entertainer in cricket of all times. I salute him (sic).'
