Kim Woodburn's top cleaning tips - including '10 minutes a day'

TV star sadly died following a short illness aged 83, with the cleaning legend sharing her top tips on the Channel 4 show 'How Clean is Your House?'
TV's tough-talking queen of clean, Kim Woodburn, famed for her role on Channel 4's 'How Clean is Your House?', has died aged 83 after a short illness.
Alongside Aggie MacKenzie, she became well-known for scolding the proprietors of grubby residences with sharp wit and tough love.

With her trademark plaited bun and no-nonsense attitude, Kim garnered legions of fans and shared invaluable cleaning advice for keeping homes spotless.

Kim passed away following a brief illness, an announcement by her representative confirmed, and together with MacKenzie, she brought order to chaotic homes on their hit show, dispensing nuggets of wisdom throughout, reports the Express.
Her former co-host reflected: "Kim was a tormented soul, but now she's finally at peace. We clashed often. Behind the fierce persona was deep pain and incredible strength. She survived because she had to. I hope she's resting now. She was an unforgettable woman."
'How Clean is Your House', which aired from 2003 to 2009, opened doors to literary and endorsement deals, and saw Kim appear in various reality TV series.
In 2017, Woodburn entered the Celebrity Big Brother house and recently featured in E4's 'Celebrity Cooking School' in 2022.
Confirming her passing, her manager said: "It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday following a short illness.

Five cleaning tips in memory of the scrubbing sensation:
Opt for the natural approach.
She championed natural cleaning methods, and instead of using harsh chemicals she uses kitchen staples like baking soda and white vinegar. These items became synonymous with her advice over the years, thanks to their skin-friendly properties and less abrasive nature for domestic cleaning.
Just 10 minutes every day.
In a 2022 interview, the Queen of Clean emphasised the importance of daily maintenance to prevent your home from ending up like the ones on the telly: "10 minutes every day and you can keep everything manageable".

She advocated for a 'little and often' routine, urging folk to dedicate just ten minutes a day or alternatively to "clean as you go".
Focus on the kitchen.
Woodburn stated that instant attention to messes and regular wiping of appliances is crucial in the kitchen. She particularly stressed wiping down the inside of your fridge every two months using a rag moistened with warm water and bicarb soda.
"When you start going over that timeframe, by God, you're asking for trouble," she stated. Besides disposing of leftover food, it's crucial to carry out these cleaning tasks to prevent drawing flies or even worse – attracting the attention of pets.

Opt for a damp duster.
This technique captures dust effectively and prevents it from scattering throughout your dwelling. Once finished, let it air dry and then give it a good shake outside or toss any collected debris into the rubbish bin.
Lay down the rules when having a party.
In regards to throwing a house party, Woodburn's advice was succinct: simply don't have one. To her, a gathering signified nothing but dirty troublemakers causing chaos in her cleansed space.
Nonetheless, if you chose to overlook her cautionary words and proceeded with your plans, her directive remained straightforward.
Before the festivities commence, declare: "This is what's going to happen. I love you, but if you're not willing to adhere to these rules, mate, you can't come."

Dad of Chelsee Healey's child jailed after major drug-dealing operation

Chelsee Healey's baby daughter's dad has been jailed for his involvement in a drug-dealing operation. It comes just days after the Hollyoaks actress, 36, supported Eddie Rainford at Manchester Crown Court earlier in the week. Rainford, 32, along with another man, Jay Boyd, were accused of supplying large quantities of cannabis. The actress, who plays Goldie McQueen on the Channel 4 soap opera, had attempted to keep Rainford's identity a secret and had only shared his first name with her fans and told them he was "marriage material." Monday's hearing was adjourned to today after Judge Peter Horgan told both Rainford and Boyd that they would likely face an "immediate custodial sentence." He was remanded at HP Forest Bank while awaiting his sentencing. Judge Horgan jailed Rainford for 24 months. On Monday, Chelsee looked shocked as she watched on from the public gallery when Horgan adjourned the case. In January this year, he pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the Class B drug between November 11, 2022 and September 28, 2023 – just days after Chelsee was booted out of ITV's Dancing On Ice. He had admitted the same charge at an earlier hearing, when the court heard that he and Boyd had a "significant role" in supplying "wholesale quantities" of the Class B drug. At the time of Chelsee's exit from the show, sources claimed that Chelsee was struggling with what was going on at home. A source told The Sun: "What Chelsee was desperately coping with while on the show was that her partner, the father of her youngest daughter, was in court for drug-dealing and has been sent to prison on remand." Chelsee even alluded to her struggles off-camera during her exit chat, saying: "There has been a lot going on with me that I have been struggling with." She had kept Rainford's identity hidden since they started dating in 2021 and since then, has only shared a handful of snaps of him on social media. It was Chelsee's Hollyoaks co-star, Richard Blackwood, who revealed Eddie's name on social media as he shared snaps from Chelsee's baby shower. But while sources had previously suggested Chelsee and Eddie were no longer together, she has gushed over their romance, explaining she instantly knew he was "the one." She said: "This is the most supportive relationship I've ever been in. My friends and family love him, and he's the first bloke I've introduced Coco to, which says a lot. I knew he was 'The One' within three to four months. I've kissed a few frogs, but he's definitely marriage material."

Strictly favourites join Celebrity Gogglebox line-up in a first for hit C4 show

The two Strictly Come Dancing judges are more used to delivering views on fancy footwork and musicality but this time around they'll be judging some of this week's TV When it comes to judging a quickstep or a salsa, the Strictly Come Dancing judges are not backwards at throwing forwards their opinions. But now Craig Revel Horwood and Anton du Beke will be offering up their thoughts on the nation's TV programmes for Celebrity Gogglebox. And it remains to be seen if Craig will break out his 'fab-u-lous' catchphrase, or just find the shows plain frightful. Pals Craig and Anton are the first of the BBC ballroom show's judges to team up for the Channel 4 show, now in its seventh series after first airing in 2019. ‌ The pair have worked together on BBC1 for more than 20 years, having joined the show at its launch in 2004, and knew each other from the dance circuit before that. ‌ They'll make their debut on Celebrity Gogglebox on Friday, joining in with recent newcomer Vernon Kay, who is married to fellow Strictly lifer Tess Daly. Anton told the Mirror: 'I'm super excited to be swapping the judges chair for a comfy sofa! Sitting down with my dear friend and fellow Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood to enjoy a bit of telly on this new series of Gogglebox.' While the dad-of-two, 58, is generally quite glowing in his praise for the celebrity contestants, Aussie Craig, 60, is known for his acid put-downs and low scores. The pair have been on the panel together, alongside Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas, since 2021, when Anton replaced Bruno Tonioli during the pandemic. Prior to that he was one of the professional dancers, with his most memorable partners including Ann Widdecombe, Ruth Langsford and Kate Garraway. Craig, who is due to marry his partner Jonathan Myring in 2027, took part in a one-off Pride special of Gogglebox a few years ago, which also featured pro dancer Johannes Radebe. Other Strictly alumni to appear on the C4 show are Pasha Kovalev, who took park with then-girlfriend Rachel Riley after quitting the ballroom show in 2019, and Oti Mabuse, who joined in alongside comedian Bill Bailey, with whom she won the glitterball trophy in 2020. ‌ In a video to promote their apprearance, the pair look relaxed and happy with Craig declaring: 'Gogglebox darlings, Friday, 9pm, join us there.' Many of the Celebrity Gogglebox regulars have returned for the current series including Rylan Clark and his mum Linda, Denise Van Outen and Johnny Vaughan, Gok Wan and Fearne Cotton, Gyles Brandreth and Lulu, Nick and Liv Grimshaw, Clare Balding and Alice Arnold, Mo Gilligan and Babatunde Aleshe and Martin and Roman Kemp. Radio 2 DJ Vernon has teamed up with another presenter from Bolton, Paddy McGuinness, for the sofa-based series. Another new pairing for this series are Inbetweeners star James Buckley and his wife Clair, who do a podcast about Family Life called The Buckleys.
