Giants legend Eli Manning bests Peyton to win 'Kick of Destiny'

USA Today09-02-2025

Retired New York Giants quarterback and future Hall of Famer, Eli Manning, didn't leave the football world after retirement. Neither did his brother, Peyton.
For the last three years, the brothers have hosted 'ManningCast' every Monday night during Monday Night Football, but that's not the only venture the brothers are part of.
For the third time, FanDuel ran the Kick of Destiny challenge on Sunday, dubbed Kick of Destiny 3.
What started as a Super Bowl commercial featuring Rob Gronkowski attempting a 25-yard field goal is being morphed into something else. This year, the Manning brothers took it to a new level and made it a competition.
You can find the rules here.
In the 3:00 p.m. ET hour of the pregame show, Eli and Peyton squared off. Eli won the toss and chose for Peyton to kick first.
In Round 1, they kicked from 25 yards out and both brothers missed — Eli completely whiffed.
In the second round, they moved the spot to a 20-yard field goal attempt. Peyton went first again and his attempt looked like it might sneak in before hitting the upright and bouncing back.
Then it was Eli's turn. He set the ball, took his steps back, hyped up the crowd, and lined up the kick… It was good!
Eli Manning bested Peyton again. He's now 3-0 in the Pro Bowl and 1-0 in the Kick of Destiny.
After winning, Manning said it was 'well worth it,' referring to some soreness he experienced in practice.
The younger brother outdid the older brother and will have bragging rights for however long he likes.

Predicting which Eagles' tight ends will make the final 53-man roster following minicamp

Predicting which Eagles' tight ends will make the final 53-man roster following minicamp With Philadelphia completing OTAs and mandatory mini-camp, w'ere predicting which tight ends will make the final Eagles' 53-man roster The Eagles are the reigning Super Bowl champions, and as we approach the 2025 NFL season, this roster will look dramatically different after suffering several free-agent losses. During the first wave of free agency, Philadelphia saw Josh Sweat (Cardinals), Milton Williams (Patriots), Kenneth Gainwell (Steelers), Mekhi Becton (Chargers), Isaiah Rodgers (Vikings), Fred Johnson (Jaguars), Parris Campbell (Cowboys), Darius Slay (CB) and Oren Burks (Bengals) all depart. Still, they rebounded to make several key signings, including A.J. Dillon (RB), Joshua Uche (LB), Adoree' Jackson (CB), Charley Hughlett (LS), Patrick Johnson (LB), Avery Williams (KR/PR), Kylen Granson (TE), and Azeez Ojulari (OLB) among others. Our projected 2025 depth chart series continues with the tight end position. You can find our past position breakdowns at the links below: Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver TE1 - Dallas Goedert Goedert is back on a restructured deal, and it wasn't a rough decision after the veteran (team-record 52 career playoff catches) led the Eagles in receptions (17) and receiving yards (215) in the postseason. TE2- Grant Calcaterra Playing in relief of an injured Dallas Goedert, Calcaterra logged 24 receptions for 298 yards and one touchdown. He was targeted 30 times and put up 19.9 yards per game. Best of the rest Practice squad numbers and game day elevations make it easy for Philadelphia to get creative with its 53-man roster. The Eagles carried two tight ends last season, and with Jeffrey Lurie looking to incorporate fullback Ben VanSumeren, the team is expected to take this approach in 2025. There are seven tight ends on the roster, with Nick Muse and E.J. Henderson among the players battling for a spot after the team signed Kylen Granson and Harrison Bryant. Jenkins was promoted to Philadelphia's active roster in 2024 and saw action in 12 games (eight in the regular season and four in the postseason). Playing primarily on special teams, he caught one pass on the season – a 7-yard touchdown versus the New York Giants on Jan. 5.

We hit 83 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now

We hit 83 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now We've reached 83 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 83 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction. No. 83 Who's wearing it now: WR Key'Shawn Smith Smith is an undrafted rookie out of SMU. The 5-11, 187-pound receiver started his college career at Miami before transferring to SMU after his junior season. He saw his numbers go up each of the past three seasons, culminating in 33 catches for 527 yards and five touchdowns as a fifth-year senior. Who wore it best: OLB Ted Hendricks The Mad Stork spent the final nine years of his 15-year NFL career in Silver & Black. Probably not coincidentally, the Raiders won all three Super Bowls in his time with the team. Two of those years he was named a first team All Pro. In his career, he earned four Super Bowl rings, was a four-time All Pro, eight-time Pro Bowler, and was a member of BOTH the All-70s and All-80s Hall of Fame teams.

Insider Has Important Update on Potential Eagles Trade Target

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Several notable NFL players are holding out in hopes for a new contract this summer. Fortunately for the Philadelphia Eagles, they seem all good on that front. Still, looking across the league, the Eagles might be keeping their eyes on some sticky situations elsewhere. Recently, there have been some suggestions for Howie Roseman to pounce on an opportunity in Ohio, as the Cincinnati Bengals deal with a holdout situation involving the dominant pass-rusher, Trey Hendrickson. Last week, Hendrickson was one of a handful of star players to miss mandatory minicamp. He wants a new deal, and that's clear. Before camp, Hendrickson and the Bengals were reportedly paused on extension discussions. Trey Hendrickson #91 of the Cincinnati Bengals celebrates in the fourth quarter against the Cleveland Browns at Paycor Stadium on December 22, 2024. Trey Hendrickson #91 of the Cincinnati Bengals celebrates in the fourth quarter against the Cleveland Browns at Paycor Stadium on December 22, Sunday, ESPN reported that the two parties are working to get back on the same page. "The two sides have resumed communication on his contract and future with the team, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Sunday," ESPN reported on Sunday. "...This is a positive turn in what has been a fierce stalemate. Hendrickson did not participate in any of the team's offseason workouts, including last week's mandatory minicamp. By missing the three-day session, Hendrickson was subject to fines of nearly $105,000." Carrying four Pro Bowl nods and a First-Team All-Pro acknowledgement, Hendrickson is at the top of his game as a defensive end in the NFL right now. More Eagles News: Eagles Targeted By Disgruntled Ex-Player's Massive Statement While the Bengals could certainly use his services, there are a handful of teams out there who probably wouldn't mind taking him off Cleveland's hands, depending on the cost to acquire the extension-needy star. The Eagles would certainly benefit from an addition like Hendrickson, especially considering the losses they've suffered since winning the Super Bowl. Multiple defensive linemen left in free agency, signing lucrative deals elsewhere. The fact that the Eagles allowed a player like Josh Sweat to walk proved that they are thinking about the future, knowing they need to break the bank on some younger homegrown players. If the rules applied to a guy like Sweat, who spent his entire career with the Eagles, then they would have to apply to Hendrickson as well. Never say never when it comes to Howie Roseman in the trade market, but Hendrickson's chances of going to Philadelphia were already slim. The fact that extension talks have picked back up, that could be a sign that Hendrickson is one of the top names off the trade block soon.
