Top 2026 running back target gives Colorado major following his official visit
One of Colorado's top class of 2026 targets was in Boulder this past weekend, and he was impressed with what Colorado had to offer.
KJ Edwards, the No. 3-ranked running back in the country, might have been even more impressed by the beautiful views you get from Folsom Field.
"My time being in Colorado was good and the view with mountains towering the stadium which being a Texas boy you hardly see any landscape like how it is in Boulder, Colorado," Edwards told On3's Steve Wiltfong.
Edwards was also impressed by the football part of his visit, as Deion Sanders and the coaching staff impressed the talented running back.
"The main message was they can use me right now just because I can play any position on the field and I'm just an overall complete running back and they play their freshman kids as long as they work their butts off for a starting position."
Colorado will face stiff competition for Edwards' commitment from in-state schools like Texas, Baylor, SMU, and Texas A&M. Hank South of Horns247 already has one Crystal Ball prediction for Edwards landing with the Longhorns. Edwards will visit Baylor on June 20 and Texas on June 6.
"The coaches that are there [at Colorado] have spent many years in the league so they know what they're talking about and understand the game of football and with Marshall Faulk coming in to play RBU will be coming to CU shortly."
It sure sounds like Edwards came away from his visit pleased with what Deion Sanders' program brings to the table. If CU does with the recruitment battle, the Marshall Faulk addition would seem like a significant factor for Edwards.

Rising 2027 4-star WR includes Texas A&M in his Top 9 program list
Texas A&M's 2027 recruiting class is beginning to take shape after four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson and four-star offensive tackle DaMarrion Johnson became the Aggies' first two commitments in the cycle. Both players are considered elite at their respective positions, and compared to this time last year, the Aggies landed two of their now 27 commits in the 2026 cycle, so this could be an excellent sign for the cycle. Under WR coach Holmon Wiggins, who has proven his ability to recruit and land players from the transfer portal, the team secured 2025 five-star wide receiver Jerome Myles, paired with offseason transfer additions KC Concepcion and Mario Craver. During his time at Alabama, Wiggins developed several first-round wideouts, including Heisman winner Devonta Smith. In the 2026 class, Texas A&M has landed four-star wide receivers Aaron Gregory, Madden Williams, and Mike Brown, who have all shut down their recruitments, and in the 2027 cycle, Wiggins and OC Collin Klein have their sights set on four-star WR Jabari Watkins out of Thomasville, Georgia. Like Madden Williams, Watkins is 6'2" and one of the bigger-bodied receivers in the class, and was highly productive last season with Thomas County Central, racking up 692 yards and five touchdowns on the year. Much of these yards came off chunk yards on short passes, where he has also thrived in bubble screens due to his impressive speed and agility after the catch. This week, Watkins placed Texas A&M in his Top 9 program list, joining Georgia, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Illinois, Pitt, Cal, Nebraska, and Florida State. According to 247Sports, Watkins is currently positioned as the 29th-ranked wide receiver and the 23rd-ranked prospect in Georgia. Oklahoma Sooners defensive end named to Lombardi Award watch list
Oklahoma Sooners star defensive end R Mason Thomas was named to the Bednarik Award watch list on Monday, placing him among some of the best defensive players in all of college football. On Tuesday, he went two-for-two this week on watch list appearances. Thomas made the cut for the Lombardi Award watch list. This accolade "continues to honor the Outstanding College Football Lineman, whether on offense or defense, who displays exceptional performance and ability and embodies the character and discipline that Vince Lombardi championed throughout his life," according to the award's website. Three former Sooners have taken home the Lombardi Award, beginning with Lee Roy Selmon is 1975. Tony Casillas followed in 1985, and Tommie Harris is the most recent recipient, winning in 2003. Thomas enjoyed a breakout season in 2024 and returned for a final year in 2025. He'll look to build off of a season where he had nine sacks and led the Sooners in pressures. He was also named to the 2025 All-SEC preseason second-team back in July. Two Ohio State players named to ESPN's 2025 preseason College Football All-American team
Like preseason polls, preseason All-America teams can be tricky. With input from pro scouts, college coaches and media colleagues, here's our 2025 team at ESPN. As we continue to march through fall camp and head towards the beginning of the college football season, we've seen plenty of Ohio State players receive preseason accolades and honors. The Buckeye program always has a few players mentioned among the best in the country because -- well -- it IS Ohio State after all. This week, two OSU players received another preseason honor when ESPN announced its preseason 2025 College Football All-American team. And while there are plenty of Ohio State players that could have been mentioned, and maybe just missed the cut, there are two that continue to appear on everyone's preseason list of best players as members of ESPN's first-team preseason All-American squad. On offense, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was honored with ESPN gushing about the star wide receiver and perhaps the best player in all the game. "Smith returns as college football's premier player and the one who strikes the most fear into opposing defensive coordinators' hearts," wrote Chris Low. "The 6-3, 225-pound sophomore is a nightmarish matchup for defensive backs with his blend of size, strength and speed. He had 17 touchdown catches last year, including four in the Buckeyes' first two playoff games, and averaged 17.5 yards per catch." On the defensive side, you can once again guess which OSU player was recognized on the first team, none other than all-everything safety Caleb Downs. "Downs came into college football as one of the top prospects in the country, played that way as a freshman at Alabama and took yet another step this past season after transferring to Ohio State and helping lead the Buckeyes to the national championship," Low said. "The prototypical safety, Downs was third on Ohio State's team last season with 81 tackles, 7 ½ of them for loss, and had two interceptions." It should be noted that there was also one other Ohio State player who was mentioned on ESPN's second-team, and that was tight end Max Klare. He, too, is expected to do big things and build off of what he did at Purdue. In other words, there is still plenty of talent in the cupboard on the banks of the Olentangy.
