The Middle Eastern nation of Saudi Arabia has expanded its sporting portfolio in an aggressive fashion in recent years, roping in a multitude of sporting properties to thrill the subjects of the country and a bigger motive of building a solid culture around sports.
In a recent development, sources say that the oil-rich nation is pushing for its very own personal WrestleMania with The Rock headlining the show.
There are discussions about holding two #WrestleMania events in one calendar year, with one potentially taking place in Saudi Arabia. Recent talks suggest this could happen as early as 2027.
Saudi has experience of hosting top-level wrestling events thanks to their venture into the Crow Jewel which was received well by the wider wrestling fanbase barring certain humanitarian concerns about the level of freedom afforded for the subjects in the Kingdom. However, the advent of an event on the level of Wrestlemania would revolutionise the landscape of the sport-entertainment business.
Iyo Sky defeated Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair To Retain WWE Women's World Championship, while McIntyre got the better of Damien Priest in a Sin City Street Fight.
Son of the legendary Rey Mysterio, Dominik, clinched the Intercontinental Championship as he pipped Bron Breakker, Penta, and Finn Balor to the coveted title.
Randy Orton outclassed Joe Hendry, while Logan Paul got the better of AJ Styles, while Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria sunk Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodrigues to seal the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. However, the biggest billing of the annual event was the return of the iconic John Cena, who beat Cody Rhodes to clinch the WWE Undisputed Championship title.

Lisa Mishra To Make Debut Performance At Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025

Lisa Mishra will debut at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in 2025. Known for her soulful voice, she is excited to perform, celebrating Indian cinema and culture globally. Singer and actress Lisa Mishra will make her debut on the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) stage this year, joining an impressive lineup of talent at one of the most prominent celebrations of Indian cinema and culture held outside India. The 2025 edition of the festival will run from August 14 to 24 in Melbourne, Australia. Known for her soulful voice and contemporary musical style, Mishra will perform at IFFM for the first time. The festival, widely recognised as the largest Indian film event outside the country, brings together not only cinema but also live music, art, and cultural showcases for a global audience. Sharing her enthusiasm, Mishra said, 'I'm truly honoured to be performing at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne this year. It's my first time on the IFFM stage, and I can't wait to share my music with such a vibrant and diverse audience. IFFM isn't just a film festival, it's a celebration of Indian art and culture on a global platform." Lisa added, 'To be a part of that energy, especially in a city like Melbourne that embraces creativity with open arms, is something I'm genuinely looking forward to. This opportunity is very special to me." Lisa Mishra is an American singer, songwriter, and actor, widely recognised for her reprise version of Tareefan in the 2018 Bollywood film Veere Di Wedding. Mishra has built a strong following through both her playback singing and independent music projects. Following the song's success, she lent her voice to tracks such as The Wakhra Song from Judgementall Hai Kya (2019), Nadaaniyaan from The Sky Is Pink, and the hit party number Chandigarh Mein from Good Newwz. In 2024, Mishra made her acting debut in the series Call Me Bae, produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. In 2017, Lisa Mishra collaborated with Jamila Woods to create the theme song for the Emmy-nominated web series Brown Girls. On 19 May 2018, she shared a mashup of the Hindi song Tareefan and Let Me Love You on her Instagram, which caught the attention of actress Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. This led to Mishra being invited to India, where she recorded and shot the reprise version of Tareefan for Veere Di Wedding, alongside the film's cast. In 2019, Mishra signed with VYRL Originals, part of Universal Music India, for her non-film music projects. That same year, she teamed up with composer-singer Vishal Mishra to release the single Sajna Ve. She also collaborated with Goa-based producer and DJ Anish Sood on the uptempo dance/house track Running Back To You, released in February 2020. Mishra's debut album, Sorry, I'm Late, released in May 2024. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. 'He Called Me A Fat...': Liam Livingstone Reveals Tom Curran's Nasty Sledge

Last Updated: Liam Livingstone has revealed that Tom Curran weight-shamed him during The Hundred. Tom Curran called Liam Livingstone a 'fat slob or something' during Birmingham Phoenix's four-wicket win over Oval Invincibles in the Hundred men's competition on Saturday. Livingstone, who put up a Player of the Match performance with a blazing fifty, said he didn't expect his 'good friend' to go that route. Curran's sledge backfired. He came to bowl the penultimate five deliveries of the innings (91-95) when Phoenix needed 22 off 10 runs and got smacked for two sixes, a four, a double and a single. It left them needing just three runs which, despite losing two more wickets, the Phoenix chased down. 'I have no idea why Tom started to spray me," Livingstone told BBC Two. 'He is one of my good friends and he called me a fat slob or something so I thought 'let's hope you don't go for a few if you come back at the death' and he did so I'm kind of happy with that," he added. Livingstone remained unbeaten for 69 off 27 to get them to their first win of the season and lift them up from last place in the points table. 'Very special, we needed it," Livingstone said earlier in the post-match presentation. 'They're a great team, won it two years in a row. Nice to get one over them and hopefully give us some momentum. [The approach was to] try and get used to the pitch and use the bounce, try and take down their spinners. I back myself if bowlers miss, I can hit, and thankfully it came off." A major feature of Livingstone's knock was his 26 runs off five balls against the world-class Rashid Khan, including three sixes and two fours. He became the first player ever in T20s (the Hundred is considered under T20s for statistical purposes) to hit more than 200 runs against the leggie. 'I've got a pretty good record just by stepping across and slogging him. It's worked in the past. I can't pick him so just try to do it that way. We let ourselves down a bit in the field. Something we don't want to do. Great win, got ourselves back into the tournament," Livingstone added. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. 2-1 Down To 6-4 Up: Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce Complete Epic Champions League Comeback

Jose Mourinho is now one round away from taking Fenerbahce back into the Champions League for the first time in 17 years. The storied coach's team surged into the Champions League qualifying playoffs by overturning a two-goal deficit on aggregate Tuesday with a 5-2 win against Feyenoord coached by Robin van Persie. Fenerbahce advanced 6-4 on aggregate score and next faces Benfica — where Mourinho got his first head coach job 25 years ago — with a place in the 36-team league phase at stake. The first leg is in Istanbul on Wednesday next week with the return on Aug. 27 at the Stadium of Light in Lisbon where future two-time Champions League winner Mourinho lasted less than three months in 2000. Benfica advanced Tuesday after beating Nice 2-0 at home after winning the first leg by the same score in France last week. Fenerbahce last played in the old group stage of the Champions League in the 2008-09 season and its biggest rival, Galatasaray, already is in the Aug. 28 main draw as the Turkish league champion. Fenerbahce had lost 2-1 in the Netherlands last week and fell further behind in the second leg of the third qualifying round clash when Feyenoord defender Tsuyoshi Watanabe scored the opener in the 41st minute. Mourinho saw his players rally quickly with two goals before halftime — the second by Colombia forward Jhon Durán, on a season-long loan from Saudi club Al Nassr. Former Manchester United midfielder Fred padded the lead early in the second half and the scoring was completed by Talisca, another teammate last season of Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr. Rangers advanced to the playoffs 4-2 on aggregate against Viktoria Plzen despite a 2-1 loss Tuesday in the Czech Republic. The Scottish club will host the first leg of its playoff next week against Club Brugge, which got three second-half goals in a 3-2 comeback win Tuesday over Salzburg to advance 4-2 on aggregate. Salzburg was playing in the FIFA Club World Cup just six weeks ago but is unlikely to qualify for the next one in 2029, now missing out on Champions League play for the first time in seven seasons. Russian-owned Pafos, the champion of Cyprus, beat Dynamo Kyiv of Ukraine 2-0 to advance 3-0 on aggregate. Pafos next faces Red Star Belgrade, the 1991 European Cup winner, which beat Lech Poznan 4-2 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw Tuesday in Serbia. Copenhagen beat its near neighbor Malmo 5-0, one week after a scoreless draw on the other side of the Oresund Bridge that connects Denmark and Sweden. Copenhagen's reward is a two-legged playoff against Swiss champion Basel. Qarabag of Azerbaijan routed North Macedonian champion Shkendija 5-1 Tuesday, and 6-1 on aggregate, to earn a playoff against Ferencvaros, a 3-0 winner in Budapest against Ludogorets of Bulgaria. Kazakhstan's Kairat Almaty won a penalty shootout at Slovan Bratislava, after the teams were tied 1-1 on aggregate, and next travels across four time zones to Scotland for the playoff first leg against Celtic.
