The time-travel stones are up to their old tricks in Outlander: Blood Of My Blood trailer
According to a synopsis from Starz, Outlander: Blood Of My Blood begins 'on the eve of an earlier Jacobite rebellion.' In 1714, Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) fall in love despite the fact that 'my father detested yours,' as she tells him in the trailer. Meanwhile, Vanity Fair reports that Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) fell in love writing letters back and forth while Henry serves in the first World War. But their long-distance, wartime courtship ain't got nothing on accidentally being separated by 200 years. 'What if you never find her?' Someone asks Henry after Julia's disappearance. 'I will,' he vows.
The Outlander: Blood Of My Blood cast also includes Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan. Executive producer Maril Davis teased to Vanity Fair, 'With prequels, the challenge is you know exactly where you're ending. But we have a lot of freedom in figuring out how to get there. We don't have a book series on this one, so we're definitely not going to have that debate necessarily of, 'Oh, this was in the book this way, but the show's doing it a different way.' But sometimes it's nice to have the blueprint.' Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, which has already been renewed for a second season, will premiere August 8.

UFC Vegas 108's Chris Duncan credits teammate Dustin Poirier in rise to gilly goose royalty
Until last year, Chris Duncan hadn't won a fight via guillotine since his professional debut in 2018. But now suddenly he's riding a two-fight streak with both victories sealed by the technique? A couple of weeks ago, when honoring his legendary teammate Dustin Poirier, I couldn't help but notice one particular sentence in the midst of the plaudits Duncan gave 'The Diamond'. 'I watched you when I was a young kid [in] WEC, you are the guy who then became a teammate,' wrote the 32-year-old Scot on Instagram. Then came the kicker: 'Then you showed me the famous gilly grip!!!!' Could it be? Had Duncan inherited the magical method that made Poirier the de facto leader of the Gilly Goose Gang for the past few years? Granted, the Louisiana poster boy captivated audiences for his attempts of the choke rather than his execution, but according to Duncan, he wasn't just throwing compliments out there willy-nilly. 'When he was getting ready for Benoit Saint-Denis, we were doing a lot of wrestling together,' Duncan told Uncrowned of Poirier. 'I was being used for grappling rounds only, because I'm not a southpaw. Every Saturday he was doing his conditioning circuit, live pads and live grappling rounds. His objective was to keep getting up and a few times he was catching me with that submission. I always thought I had a good guillotine as it was, but I asked, 'What are you doing there?' Because even when I was doing everything right, he was still getting me with it. 'Over time he helped me develop it and he showed me the different things he was doing — and believe it or not, it's won me a lot of money!' Duncan is no doubt referring to the Performance of the Night bonus he secured with his guillotine victory over Bolaji Oki this past September, which he followed up with another guillotine victory in March over one of the golden boys of the U.K. scene, former Cage Warriors champion Jordan Vucenic. 'I threw him about like an empty tracksuit,' Duncan remembered. 'I try not to badmouth any of my opponents, and I hope this doesn't sound wrong, but I make a lot of sacrifices in every fight camp to travel to American Top Team. I'm training with the best guys in the world, whereas he did his fight camp in [English town] Corby — most people don't know where that is.' You see, Duncan never got the big promotional backing that Vunenic enjoyed in his pre-UFC career. The first time I saw him fight, he upset a highly-hyped hometown favorite in Dublin's 3 Arena, silencing the partisan Irish crowd to the point of disbelief at a Bellator show in 2019. It took the Scot minutes to dispose of striking standout Sam Slater that night. He went on to win two more tests under the Bellator banner, but was never afforded the push like others on the now-defunct promotion's European roster. In a strange way, not being synonymous with the brand like James Gallagher or Fabian Edwards may have helped Duncan contractually when it came to getting a nod for the UFC's Contender Series. Although it took him two bites of the apple before he earned his UFC contract, Duncan now has his feet comfortably under the table as a five-fight veteran. While it's certainly an escalation in terms of rankings, you get the sense that Duncan is relishing the thought of facing Mateusz Rębecki in the co-main event of this weekend's UFC Vegas 108 card. He may be the underdog, but the way he sees it, that just gives him a bigger opportunity to win the masses over. 'People are always going to doubt you,' he explained. 'I haven't had any crazy performances — I've had some good ones, but I haven't had a crazy fight in there yet. People probably think I'm just an average fighter, but I'll prove to them that I'm far from average.' And what are the chances he could make it three guillotine finishes in a row? 'I'm going to try it," Duncan exclaimed. "I think he's going to wrestle, so I should get a chance. It's f***ing embedded into my game. I've got so many ins and so many outs with that submission. It's definitely possible, you'll have to wait and see.'

If you prefer a new show to keep you entertained, Peacock has a new season of the action-comedy Twisted Metal, and on Netflix, some of the most infamous reality TV daters in recent years have congregated for a new season of Perfect Match. Carson stars as Anna, an ambitious American student who enrolls in a year-long poetry program at the University of Oxford. Anna has created a strict plan for herself, starting with her studies at Oxford, but all of that is derailed when she meets a charming man named Jamie (Mylchreest) who makes her question whether the path she's laid out for herself is the right one. The film arrives Aug. 1. Netflix Perfect Match, Season 3 (Aug. 1) Perfect Match is kind of like an all-star edition of all of Netflix's dating shows rolled into one. The show, now heading into its third season, features some fan-favorite cast members from shows like Love is Blind, Too Hot To Handle and Temptation Island -- to compete for another chance at love. This season, for the first time ever, the show welcomes non-Netflix show talent, too, with contestants from The Bachelor and Love Island USA joining in on the fun. The first six episodes of this season arrive Aug. 1. Three more arrive Aug. 8 and the season finale will air Aug. 15. Netflix Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes (July 30) Netflix's Conversations with a Killer series uses rare interviews with infamous murderers like Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer to offer unusual insight into the minds of these cold-blooded killers. In the new season of the show, they're tackling David Berkowitz, better known as the Son of Sam, the man who terrorized New York City during the summer of 1977. Berkowitz killed his victims with his .44 caliber gun and anonymously taunted the public and media outlets with letters he signed "the Son of Sam." This new series features audio interviews with Berkowitz who spoke with reporter Jack Jones while in prison in 1980 as well as firsthand interviews with law enforcement, journalists and survivors of his attacks. Peacock Peacock Twisted Metal, Season 2 (July 31) Twisted Metal, the action-comedy series based on the video game of the same name, is back for a second season this week. This season, John Doe (Anthony Mackie) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) enter the deadly demolition derby known as Twisted Metal, hosted by Calypso, who is played this season by Anthony Carrigan. That's not the only drama for John, however, as his estranged sister Dollface (Tiana Okoye) also finds her way back to his life, too. Twisted Metal returned with three new episodes on Thursday, July 31; new episodes will arrive every week through Thursday, Aug 28. Starz Universal Pictures Happy Gilmore (Aug. 1) A funny thing happened just as soon as Happy Gilmore 2 arrived on Netflix -- the streamer announced that the original film, Happy Gilmore, was leaving the platform. Not to worry though; you can still catch a double feature on streaming because starting Aug. 1, the 1996 comedy is available on Starz. HBO Max Warner Bros. Final Destination Bloodlines (Aug. 1) Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, Final Destination Bloodlines, which arrives on HBO Max this week, stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana as Stefani Reyes, a woman who realizes that she and her family never should have existed because their grandparents cheated death. As a result, welp, death is knocking on her door.
