2025 NFL Odds: Travis Hunter Named Starting WR, Second-String CB

Welp, there it is: Travis Hunter is listed on both sides of the Jaguars' depth chart.
Hunter, a wide receiver and cornerback in college, was drafted by Jacksonville after one year at Jackson State and two seasons at Colorado.
Since arriving in Jacksonville, new head coach Liam Coen has had Hunter practicing at both positions, and on Jacksonville's first unofficial depth chart, he's listed as a starting wide receiver and a second-string cornerback.
That suggests most of his snaps — at least early on — will come on offense, catching passes from Trevor Lawrence.

Although Hunter has yet to take an NFL snap, he played a remarkable 2,625 snaps in college and became the most decorated player in Colorado football history.
During his time with the Buffaloes, he recorded 153 receptions for 1,979 yards and 20 touchdowns, and added a rushing touchdown.
Defensively, Hunter was equally impressive.
He logged 66 tackles (including 47 solo and three for loss), along with seven interceptions for 55 yards. Additionally, he had 16 pass breakups and one forced fumble over his two seasons in Boulder.
Hunter's milestones earned him numerous awards, including the Heisman Trophy, AP College Football Player of the Year, Walter Camp Award, Chuck Bednarik Award, Fred Biletnikoff Award and Lott Trophy, and he was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

Why Bears fans should be rooting for Tyrique Stevenson to win CB2 job
The Chicago Bears have a handful of positional battles going on at training camp, including the battle for the second cornerback spot opposite Pro Bowler Jaylon Johnson. With Johnson nursing a leg injury suffered while training before camp, it's been a duo of Tyrique Stevenson and Nahshon Wright running with the starters (with Terell Smith rotating in with Stevenson at times). In Johnson's absence, Wright has been great. Stevenson hasn't been bad by any means, but Wright has been noticeable, which has created a competition between the two. Earlier this summer, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen proclaimed the job is 'completely up for grabs'. As camp progresses, that becomes increasingly believable. With that said, it's fair to root for Stevenson to win the job ahead of Week 1. If you believe that a football team has the best chance to win when they start their most talented players, then you'd like to see Stevenson out there in Week 1's tilt against the Minnesota Vikings. He's the second-most talented cornerback on the roster after Johnson. Did Stevenson make a bad mistake on the Hail Mary play against the Washington Commanders? Of course, he did. Matt Eberflus didn't do a good enough job holding him accountable for it either. As we've seen in training camp so far this summer, however, Ben Johnson is a different kind of head coach. He's holding everyone accountable, and that includes Stevenson. Don't think the new head coach or defensive coordinator doesn't know what happened last year. There is a higher standard going forward. It's good to see that Stevenson has to earn the trust of the new coaching staff. It's on him to take that job and run with it. As far as getting the best talent on the field for as many snaps as possible, Stevenson fits the mold better than anybody in the cornerback room, except for Jaylon Johnson. Josh Allen will not play in Bills preseason opener
Quarterback Josh Allen will not be on the field when the Bills open their preseason slate against the Giants. Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters in his Thursday press conference that Allen will rest on Saturday, with Mitchell Trubisky getting the start at quarterback. But other healthy starters will play in the contest. "Josh will not play this week. The starters, the ones, will play give or take one quarter, and then it'll flow from there," McDermott said. McDermott noted the benefit of this plan is to get Trubisky some time with the starters, as that's the group he would be playing with should something happen to Allen during the regular season. "That's huge," McDermott said. "Certainly want to be mindful of Josh, mindful of any starter — any of our players, we never want to see them get injured. The benefit of this, we hold Josh out, we keep him in a good spot. He's been playing extremely well in camp — you guys have been out here — and we get a chance to look at Mitch and some of the other quarterbacks. We'll gain live action with the ones, in this case, for Mitch." Allen has started every game for the Bills since the 2019 season. Trubisky appeared in nine games last season, mainly in mop-up work, though he did play the majority of the Week 18 matchup against the Patriots. He completed 19-of-26 passes for 179 yards with two touchdowns and no picks in 2024. Kickoff for the matchup between Buffalo and New York is set for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.
