Coolie v/s LEO Worldwide Day 1 Box Office Comparison: Superstar Rajinikanth & Thalapathy Vijay's close fight for number 1 spot
Rajinikanth Coolie has taken the biggest start for a Kollywood movie worldwide, beating Vijay's Leo by little over Rs 6 crore. Leo had collected Rs 144 crore worldwide and Coolie eclipsed it to gross Rs 150.75 crore. Both the movies are directed Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is undisputedly the biggest director of Kollywood currently, along with being one of the top 3 directors of India. Coolie Beats Leo To Emerge As The Biggest Kollywood Opener Of All Time; Grosses Over Rs 150 Crore Coolie collected over Rs 150 crore, despite its high profile clash with War 2. The day 1 collections would have been even more if not for the clash. Rajinikanth has proven his enduring global appeal, yet again. Even after 50 years of being in the movie business, he is able to bring crowds to theatres in hordes. It is difficult to keep surprising and exciting audiences, but Rajinikanth has been able to do so. Rajinikanth And Vijay Engage In An Intense Battle For The Top Spot Vijay, in the last 10 years, has given the Superstar a run for his money, especially in the Tamil Nadu and Kerala market. In the last 5 years, there have been instances where Vijay has even gone ahead of the legend. But in general, it is a nail-biting contest for the top spot. Other stars like Ajith Kumar and Kamal Haasan follow suit, but they don't find themselves in competition for the throne, currently. Coolie's International Collections Play A Major Role In Helping It Take The Biggest Kollywood Opening Leo leads Coolie in domestic opening day collections, but Coolie's international collections are much higher than Leo, helping it take the initial lead. Leo's Rs 77 crore dwarfs Coolie's Rs 75.25 crore domestically, but Coolie's Rs 75.50 crore international gross stands tall in front of Leo's Rs 67 crore. The Territorial Comparison Between Leo And Coolie For The Opening Day Is As Under How Much Can Coolie Gross Worldwide, In Its Lifetime? Leo went on to gross around Rs 620 crore worldwide and it is to be seen, how far Coolie can go from here. A Rs 500 crore plus gross seems certain but whether it can breach Rs 600 crore too, is to be seen. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

Kangana Ranaut says only losers use dating apps, calls them gutter of society
Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut recently expressed strong opinions against dating apps and people who use them. She described dating apps as "the true 'gutter' of our society." The actor went on to criticise the practice of looking for partners on dating apps as "a neech (lower) thing to do."In an interview with Hauterrfly, the 'Tanu Weds Manu' actor said, "I have never wanted to be on dating apps. That is the true 'gutter' of our society. Everybody has a need, be it financial, physical, or anything else... Every woman and man have needs, but how do we address them? That is the question. Do we do it elegantly, or do we do it more crudely, like har raat nikal jaana (leaving home every night) in search of someone? That is what dating is now, and it's a horrible situation."advertisement"I don't think any regular person would like to go on a dating app. People who desire validation and lack confidence go to such places," she added. The actor also stated she couldn't imagine interacting with people who use such apps. The 39-year-old advocated for finding meaningful relationships in more traditional settings. She said, "You find good people in the offices you work with, or the colleges you study at, or in the partners that your parents find for you for an arranged marriage.""You won't find people like me on dating apps. You'll only find losers there, the people who haven't achieved anything in their lives. If you haven't been able to meet anyone in the office, through your parents and relatives, and you've ended up on a dating app, imagine what sort of character you are," she further also criticised live-in relationships and underlined the importance of marriage. She expressed, "Marriages are very important in our society, and it is the promise that a man makes to stay loyal to his wife. These days, you hear about new ideas such as live-in relationships. Throughout my life, I have been in relationships, and I have seen other people who indulge in such things, but I can assure you that these are not women-friendly things.""Who's going to help you get an abortion? If you get pregnant tomorrow during a live-in relationship, who is going to take care of you? Men are hunters who can impregnate any woman and run away," she further actor then expressed, 'No matter how much we empower ourselves or educate ourselves with books and surveys, scientifically speaking, men can compartmentalise and women can't."On the film front, Ranaut was recently seen in the film 'Emergency.' The actor played the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film. Released in January, the film received negative to mixed reviews and tanked at the box office.- Ends IN THIS STORY#Kangana Ranaut

War 2 box office collection day 2 (updated live): Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR film finally beats Coolie; set for bumper I-Day
After what was called a subpar opening day, Ayan Mukerji's War 2 has picked up pace at the box office on its second day i.e. Friday, August 15. Buoyed by the Independence Day holiday, the film has taken its total collections close to ₹100 crore. According to Sacnilk, by 5 pm on Friday, War 2 had earned ₹32 crore in India on day 2. War 2 box office collection day 2: A still from War 2 featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. War 2 box office collection (updated live) War 2 opened at ₹52.250 crore net in India on its first day. This included ₹29 crore in Hindi and ₹23.25 crore in Telugu. While a ₹50+ crore opening is normally celebrated in Indian cinema, this was not the case for War 2. For starters, it failed to surpass the ₹53 crore opening of part 1. Then, many trade analysts felt that the combined stardom of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR ought to have landed the film a much higher figure, closer to ₹75 crore if not ₹100 crore. But War 2 recovered well on day 2, adding ₹32 crore by 5 pm on Friday, taking the overall India collection over ₹83 crore. The way the film is adding money every hour, it should breach the ₹100 crore mark by the end of the day. If War 2 manages to avoid a dip on Independence Day, it should count the day as successful, given that the reviews have been lukewarm, and South stars' films do see big dips on second days. But what has been truly promising for War 2 is that it has outpaced Rajinikanth's Coolie on day 2. By 5 pm, Coolie had earned just ₹26 crore. About War 2 War 2 is directed by Ayan Mukerji and is part of the YRF Spy Universe, which also includes Tiger films and Pathaan. The film's post-credits scene introduced Bobby Deol, setting up the next chapter of the Spyverse - Alpha, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. War 2 also stars Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana in key roles. The film, which has been mounted on a massive budget of over ₹300 crore, would need to sustain its momentum at the box office to earn the right to be called a hit.
