Jenny Han Teases The Summer I Turned Pretty 's 'Better' Series Ending
Jenny Han is making some more alterations to the Cousins house.
As The Summer I Turned Pretty's third season nears its July 16 premiere, the author teased that the Prime Video show's final installment might have a few unexpected departures from her beloved book trilogy.
'I always knew how I wanted to end the books,' Han told Elite Daily in an interview published July 8. 'But with the show, I went into it with an open mind. I wanted to approach it with fresh eyes and just see what sort of magic happened on screen. I am somebody who is always changing things up.'
Indeed, the 40-year-old gained a new perspective while filming the upcoming season, which will see the love triangle between Lola Tung's Belly Conklin and Fisher brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

Though Belly chooses to continue her romance with Conrad in the book's ending, Han and the cast have expressed that the show may not necessarily follow its source material.
'People will be like, 'Why are you changing that? That was working well!' But to me, it could always be better,' she continued. 'That's how I approach everything, so naturally I was going into this story feeling like I wanted to make it even better and try new things.'
And while she remained subtle about whether these upcoming changes will affect Belly's final decision, she's certainly making room for new details. In fact, the author introduced several new characters in the series' third season trailer, including Conrad's latest med school friend.
And according to her, the older Fisher brother will benefit the most from this character add-on.
'He has really gone off to do his own thing in California and start fresh,' Han explained. 'With that space, he can become a version of himself that he's struggled to be around the people who know him best, who've seen him going through some really dark, painful times. He's finally in this really great place where he has these friends, and he's motivated to be this version of himself he wants to be.'

The second season of Gen V is all about leveling up. Fans of The Boys universe packed Ballroom 20 on Friday as Prime Video hosted the first-ever San Diego Comic-Con panel for Gen V. The Boys Cameos The official trailer for the second season of the spin-off series was screened for the crowd, with Dean Cipher's ominous quote, "You can all level up under the right amount of pressure," being of key interest for fans. The two-minute video also teased three shocking The Boys cameos from Erin Moriarty (Annie January / Starlight), Chace Crawford (Kevin Moskowitz / The Deep), and Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir II). Watch it here: Since Gen V and The Boys constantly "talk to each other," that means fans of Gen V will get to see how the country and the university have changed now that Antony Starr's Homelander has "taken over America," Fazekas explained. The spin-off will also explore "what the resistance is going to start looking like," including where some of your favorite characters from The Boys ended up after that fourth-season finale. "There will be some important cameos [and] answers to that." An Emotional Tribute Season 1 actor Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson, a student with the power of magnetism, tragically died in 2024 at age 27 in a motorcycle crash. The producers decided to write his character out of the show, rather than recast him. Andre is alluded to in the new trailer by Sean Patrick Thomas, who has been promoted to series regular status for his role of Andre's dad, Polarity. "For Andre," he says through tears at the one-minute mark. New Characters Two cast additions were confirmed at Comic-Con: Zach McGowan's Dogknott, who gets taken out by Annie January in the trailer, and Ethan Slater's Thomas Godolkin, the namesake of the super-powered university where all the action takes place. Shameless viewers will no doubt recognize McGowan from his role of Jody, and Slater was most recently seen on the big screen in the Wicked film as Boq Woodsman. Leveling Up In addition to Dean Cipher's "level up" quote in the trailer, Fazekas teased more about that overarching Season 2 theme, claiming, "There's gonna be a lot of different types of leveling up. So, some people are going to level up their superpowers, and some people are going to emotionally level up, or figure out something new about themselves and lose control." She turned to the cast and added, "Yeah, you guys all lose control at one point or another." Top Cast Quotes "It is f---ing incredible seeing all of your pretty faces," Luh said. He stood up and shouted, "SDCC!" and then threatened to take his "shirt off" with Byrne as the audience cheered him on. "Should we do it? I'm gonna do it!" For the record, Luh ended up removing his jacket, which you can watch in the video below: Sinclair recalled falling "in love with Marie immediately" when she first read the pilot script. "They gave me dummy sides, it wasn't even real material, but she is determined to get into the school, and refuses to take no for an answer. She was super scrappy and kind of desperate, and I just really loved her tenacity from the beginning," raved the actress. Linklater was mostly tight-lipped about his new villainous character, Dean Cipher, the Head of Academics. "I can't tell you anything about him ... but I had one question from Reddit, which was, would my Dean beat the old Dean [played by Shelley Conn]? They said, 'You're gonna have to act pretty darn hard.'" The actor then joked, "I love overacting, so I said yes!" That's a wrap! The Black Sabbath frontman's family confirmed his passing earlier this week on Tuesday, July 22. He was 76. "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the family shared in a statement. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time." Two days later, Kelly addressed her father's death for the first time on social media. "I feel unhappy I am so sad," she wrote via her Instagram Story Thursday. "I lost the best friend I ever had." Just a week before Ozzy's unexpected death, Kelly had publicly clapped back at a fan who criticized her understanding of Parkinson's disease. The backlash came after she had previously denied rumors that Ozzy was "dying." "This is the s--t I wake up to," she said at the time, sharing a screenshot of a DM from a follower. "Wtf is wrong with people?" "Believe me I fully understand how this works," she continued. "Your message is incredibly rude. So firstly I want to tell you to go f--k yourself! He is not in stage 5!! That is not the way his kind of Parkinson's works." While Ozzy was diagnosed with the disease back in 2003, he first opened up publicly about is diagnosis during an interview on Good Morning America in 2020. "It's been terribly challenging for us all," he admitted at the time. "I did my last show New Year's Eve at The Forum. Then I had a bad fall. I had to have surgery on my neck, which screwed all my nerves." Despite those challenges, Ozzy delivered one final performance just weeks before his passing on July 5, with his band, Black Sabbath, in his hometown of Birmingham, England. Following Ozzy's Back to the Beginning show, it was announced that the concert would be getting a theatrical release. The film is slated for a 2026 release. "The feature-length concert film will be a big-screen celebration of Ozzy Osbourne and the legacy of Black Sabbath, capturing the raw power and emotional weight of Ozzy's final bow in his hometown of Birmingham," Mercury Studios said in a collab post announcing the release. "Presented as a love letter to Ozzy and the pioneering sound of Black Sabbath, the theatrical release will be a distilled version of the epic all-day event held at Villa Park," added the post. "Featuring thunderous performances of War Pigs, Iron Man, and a show-stopping Paranoid, the film promises a deeply personal and electrifying farewell from the godfather of heavy metal with exclusive behind-the-scenes access and interviews from this iconic live performance." In addition to the film, Ozzy's memoir, titled, Last Rites, is also set to be released posthumously in the coming year.
