Miley Cyrus Explained Why She's One Of The 'Only' Pop Stars Without A Makeup Line, And People Are Pointing Out That It's Literally 'Common Sense'
In the past decade or so, celebrity side hustles have become all the rage. We've got actors buying sports teams, supermodels selling alcohol, and plenty of celeb skincare brands. But perhaps the most common trend of all is the popstar to cosmetics mogul pipeline.
We have billion-dollar brands like Rihanna's Fenty Beauty and Selena Gomez's Rare Beauty, along with popular lines from Ariana Grande (r.e.m. beauty), Lady Gaga (Haus Labs), and Harry Styles (Pleasing). And while the cosmetics world is certainly very lucrative (just ask Hailey Bieber), it seems not all A-listers have the urge to launch a beauty line.
Speaking on the New York Times' Interview podcast on May 31, Miley Cyrus commented on the increase in celebrity makeup brands and explained pretty frankly why it's not something she sees in her future.
'My stepdad asked me the other day, 'Why are you the only one without a makeup line?' I was like, 'Cause that's not my passion.' He goes, 'That's the right answer,'' she recalled. 'And it made so much sense. It's like, 'I don't have a makeup line because I'm not a makeup artist.''

Despite her stance, Miley was quick to emphasize that she's not judgmental of celebs that do pursue side hustles — using her godmother Dolly Parton as a great example.
'Some people operate differently, you know?' she said. 'Dolly always says, 'You do you, and I'll do me, together we'll be us.' This woman [sells] cupcakes, Dollywood, amusement parks, all the things. I've never felt like that was really for me. And I've always admired that she can and wants [to] — it's like a deep passion for her. She absolutely adores it.'
As for where her heart lies, Miley concluded: 'To me, it's me by a piano writing songs and telling my stories, and then creating a gorgeous visual in support of that. That's what I love to do.'

If there's one thing about Miley, we can always count on her to keep it real. And, on X, fans have been praising her for having 'common sense' on the matter, instead of being 'money hungry.'
What do you think of Miley's comments? Do you think all of these celeb entrepreneurs are genuinely passionate about what they're selling, or are some of them in it purely for the money? Let me know your thoughts down below.

Miley Cyrus stuns fans in daring dress during New York album signing
Miley Cyrus embraced the sheer look while signing autographs for fans. While promoting her latest album, "Something Beautiful," the 32-year-old singer stepped out in a completely sheer Ludovic de Saint Sernin black dress, which she accessorized with a pair of black underwear and no bra. She also paired the look with black sunglasses and high heels and wore her blonde hair in an old-fashioned updo with curled bangs. She was photographed in the chic look as she signed vinyls for fans in New York. The actress posted photos of her daring outfit on Instagram with the caption, "Posed with the beautiful people who showed up at 30 Rock for @roughtradenyc." Fans were quick to flood the comments section with compliments. "You're such [an] icon," one fan wrote, while another added, "Damn this dress" with a few fire emojis. A third fan wrote, "What a queen omg," while another wrote, "OKAY OKAY OKAY YOU ATE THIS LOOK UP MAAM." The visual album also includes a corresponding musical movie, which is set to be released in theaters everywhere on June 27. When it comes to the visuals, Cyrus told Harper's Bazaar, they were "inspired by Pink Floyd's 'The Wall,'" and set out to make it only with "a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture." She also explained that when putting together the songs, it was vital to her "that every song has these healing sound properties," as the album as a whole represents the different phases of her life. "The songs, whether they're about destruction or heartbreak or death, they're presented in a way that is beautiful, because the nastiest times of our life do have a point of beauty," she continued. "They are the shadow, they are the charcoal, they are the shading. You can't have a painting without highlights and contrast." During a recent appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" the "Hannah Montana" star shared that while filming one of the videos for her album on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she "caught something" and landed "in the ICU for a moment." Cyrus went on to say that her "leg began to disintegrate... around the kneecap area" due to an infection, which even grossed out the seasoned doctors. "To have a surgeon look at you and say, 'Yuck…' They open up cadavers," she said. "They see inside the guts of humans, and they're looking at me, telling me I'm disgusting. And they do brain operations!" The actress joked, "I had a big dream and a small budget," noting that they filmed the scene on the Walk of Fame at night to avoid paying rental fees.

Miley Cyrus Made a Playful Dig at Liam Hemsworth During an Album Signing
Something Beautiful is officially upon us, and Miley Cyrus is celebrating her new album by sharing the love with fans. After Miley dropped the project on Friday, she held an intimate performance and album signing at Rough Trade in New York City on June 4—and made a subtle dig at her ex, Liam Hemsworth, in the process. As she signed Smilers' albums and other memorabilia, she left a specific note for a fan named Liam along with her signature. Per his social post, she wrote, 'The best Liam,' and he posted another photo with the 'Easy Lover' singer with the caption, 'Me when I'm the best Liam.' And her? She's just being Miley. This isn't Miley's first intimate event to celebrate Something Beautiful. Ahead of its release, she hosted a Q&A with TikTok and sang pared-back versions of tracks off the album at L.A.'s famous Chateau Marmont on May 27. Earlier in the month, she teamed up with Spotify to host day-1 supporters and press for an advanced screening of the album's pop-opera film at New York City's Metrograph theater. While the film won't be released in theaters until June 12 and June 27, she opened up about what the album means to her during a Q&A with Matt Peterson, a lifelong fan who asked her to prom in 2013. 'There's such a spectrum of beauty, and some of it incorporates heartbreak and loss, or death or pain—but sometimes it's flowers and rainbows and new love. There's always something to look forward to,' Miley shared at the time before gushing about her fans. 'I'm also gagged by this movie. Any chance that I have, like everything, I make it for both of us. I make it for me to love it and for you to love it. There's no one else that really matters,' she said. Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time to throw on this banger and marvel at Miley's archival Mugler look, just because we can:

Miley Cyrus Traverses Trends in Shorts Over Tights and a Naked Dress
Miley Cyrus's Something Beautiful album rollout has been nothing short of a bona fide fashion fest. From the fall 1997 Mugler couture album cover to the sparkling archival Roberto Cavalli minidress she wore to perform at the Chateau Marmont. But while stylist Bradley Kenneth has dressed Cyrus in scores of timeless vintage pieces, the pair are also diving into trends past and present. Yesterday, for a performance at Rough Trade, Cyrus continued to embrace sparkle in a black halter top embroidered with sequins and a beaded fringe. But on the bottom, she tested a trend that was popular during her Hannah Montana days: denim shorts over tights. This was no teeny-bopper Disney costume look, though. The singer wore her tight blue cuffed denim cutoffs over a pair of low-denier fishnet tights. She added a few final touches with sleek Gentle Monster x Maison Margiela sunglasses and a pair of black-and-white knee-high boots with the telltale red Louboutin sole. XNY/Star Max Later in the day, Cyrus embraced a more contemporary trend: naked dressing. The singer signed autographs in a diaphanous black Ludovic de Saint Sernin dress, an interpretation of the opening look from spring 2025. Cyrus isn't the only one to flock to this look; Meghann Fahy wore a champagne sequin iteration to the premiere of Drop in April. But accessorized with a gold collar necklace, Saint Laurent sunglasses, and strappy black sandals, Cyrus is adding the sheer trend into her repertoire with ease. In fact, whether she's rocking the naked dress or jorts over tights, Miley Cyrus has managed to fold anything into her glam rock style.
