NFL preseason roundup: Saints rally late to tie Jaguars
Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler threw a 20-yard touchdown to Dante Pettis and ran in the two-point conversion himself with 21 seconds left to level the score.
Rattler, who played the second half after Tyler Shough got the first half, completed 18 of 24 passes for 199 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Pettis finished with 57 receiving yards, trailing Mason Tipton, who had a game-high 100 receiving yards for the Saints (0-1-1).
Starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence played two series for Jacksonville (0-1-1), throwing a 7-yard touchdown to Parker Washington to end his afternoon. He completed 8 of 10 passes for 76 yards, with rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten providing 35 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Jaguars.
Bears 38, Bills 0
Quarterback Caleb Williams made his 2025 preseason debut under new Chicago coach Ben Johnson and threw a touchdown pass in the opening series as the host Bears shut out Buffalo.
Williams finished 6 of 10 for 107 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown pass to Olamide Zaccheaus to conclude a game-opening 92-yard drive. Williams, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, exited after the Bears' second possession.
Tyson Bagent relieved Williams and went 13 of 22 for 196 yards, including a 11-yard TD pass to Tyler Scott. Bagent drove Chicago to three first-half touchdowns, as Brittain Brown and Ian Wheeler each ran one in from a yard out en route to a 28-0 halftime lead.
The Bills, who have lost both of their preseason games, again rested star quarterback Josh Allen, the reigning NFL MVP, as well as other starters including running back James Cook, who ended his hold-in with a contract extension in the past week. Mitchell Trubisky, a former Bears starter, was 7 of 13 for 55 yards for Buffalo in relief of game starter Mike White (4 of 11, 54 yards).
Bears cornerback Terell Smith was carted off the field with a non-contact knee injury in the second quarter, defensive end Dominique Robinson and wide receiver J.P. Richardson sustained ankle injuries, and defensive end Austin Booker and running back Deion Hankins exited with knee injuries. Bills defensive back Jordan Hancock sustained a shoulder injury.

First video of Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson together resurfaces on social media... when she was just 21
When Bill Belichick was spotted walking around the New Orleans ' French Quarter in January 2023, local football fans were hoping he was in line to take over the struggling Saints. People paid little attention to the young woman walking alongside him in a pink top. But two-and-a-half years later, the footage appears to be the first time Belichick, now age 73, was seen with his 49-years-younger girlfriend Jordon Hudson. At the time the clip was taken, Hudson would have been just 21 years old, while Belichick would have been 70. The controversial couple appear unaware that they are being filmed in the footage that was first shared by the New Orleans travel Instagram page, New Orleans Lifestyle. 'When you randomly spot a Super Bowl winning coach and wish they were in town for a job interview,' the caption read. Exactly what the couple were there for is unclear but Belichick would have been absolved of any major football commitments at the time. His New England Patriots team had failed to reach the NFL playoffs and Belichick would go on and have just one more season as the team's head coach before departing after 24 seasons. Combining with Tom Brady, they won six Super Bowl titles together. Belichick and Hudson, meanwhile, first met on a flight from Boston to Tampa in 2021, when the NFL great was in a relationship with his now ex-girlfriend Linda Holliday. The timeline of when things with Holliday broke down and how his relationship with Hudson became romantic is unclear but Belichick's split with Holliday was confirmed in September 2022. They had been together for 16 years. Back in February, Hudson and Belichick returned to New Orleans for the Super Bowl, where they watched the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs. They attended several lavish events together leading up to football's showpiece game, while also stunning onlookers by going for a drink in an Irish bar packed with NFL fans on one night. Since then, Hudson has made a series of calamitous PR mis-steps that have caused so much scrutiny on the couple, the idea of walking down the street unnoticed is now nothing but a fantasy. The most notable self-inflicted humiliation came when Belichick gave an interview to CBS. From off-camera, Hudson interrupted to stop a visibly uncomfortable Belichick from answering a question on how they met - something CBS said happened repeatedly during the interview. Recently, two podcasters from 'The Sports Gossip Show' detailed a week of excuciating exchanges between themselves and Hudson. They were keen to have her as a guest on their show but amid a growing sense of unease from speaking to Hudson, talks ended with Belichick's girlfriend 'yelling and crying' on the phone at how they had mocked her appearing at a beauty pageant. It remains to be seen how much Hudson has curbed her appetite for center stage but for Belichick, a huge day is approaching with his first game at college level as head coach of University of North Carolina. They face TCU on Monday, September 1 - a massively anticipated game for plenty of reasons off the field after the last few months.

Red flag halts Tuesday qualifying after late incident at Manx GP
The red flag went out shortly after 8pm but no further details were immediately provided by the organisers. It was the second red flag incident since qualifying began on Sunday, with a crash involving Bangor's Andy McAllister at the notorious Black Dub on Monday forcing an end to the action only ten minutes after qualifying began. McAllister sustained a reported arm injury in the crash. The organisers had hoped to restart the session on Monday, but made the decision to cancel the remainder of the schedule with the clean-up operation at the scene taking longer than expected. Fading light in the evening at this time of year also limits the amount of evening qualifying time for competitors. Before last night's red flag, Manxman Jamie Williams set the fastest time in Senior qualifying on his NCE Racing Honda at 118.571mph. Williams was 4.3s up on Scotsman Chris Cook (118.121mph), while Donegal's Caomhan Canny – making his return from injury after a crash at the Tandragee 100 in June – was fifth fastest at 116.942mph. Canny was narrowly ahead of Limavady's Michael Gahan, who clocked 116.663mph. Southern Irish rider Andy Farell led the Junior Supertwin times on his Aprilia at 113.304mph from Liam Chawke on Ryan Farquhar's KMR Kawasaki (113.242mph) and Senior pacesetter Williams (113.135mph). TT winner Davey Todd recorded the fastest lap overall on the Prosperity Racing Ducati 916 after being granted permission to participate in the Manx Grand Prix qualifying sessions. Practice for the standalone Classic TT meeting is due to commence this evening from 6:30pm and will run in tandem with the Manx Grand Prix. However, Todd will miss some Classic TT practice sessions this weekend, when he will travel to Cadwell Park to compete in the British Superbike Championship on the 8TEN Racing BMW. The English rider co-owns the team with fellow TT winner Peter Hickman, who was injured in a crash in qualifying at the TT. Todd will be one of the favourites in the Classic TT Formula 1 race next Wednesday. The 29-year-old lapped at 121.688mph on the Ducati 916 machine from a standing start last night. His opposition will include 33-time TT winner Michael Dunlop, who will ride the Wiz Norton, plus Mike Browne and Rob Hodson on Ducati 916 machinery. The Classic TT line-up also includes Dean Harrison, John McGuinness, Conor Cummins, Ian Hutchinson, Jamie Coward and Paul Jordan. Todd said: 'Myself and Dean Harrison are off to Cadwell Park and we're away from Thursday evening and don't get back until Tuesday, so we'll miss all of the practice over the weekend. 'The organisers have kindly let us jump in these Manx Grand Prix sessions to get a couple of laps in case anything happens later in the week, and we're unable to get any laps.' Meanwhile, Shaun Anderson from Banbridge has secured a last-minute deal to ride a Yamaha YZF750 in the Classic TT Formula 1 class. Anderson lost his ride on the Wiz Norton to Dunlop but will now be able to take his place in the race after HM Racing stepped in and offered him a lifeline. Last year, Anderson toasted his first win around the Mountain Course when he beat 23-time TT winner McGuinness in a tight finish to secure victory on a Paton machine in the Classic Senior Manx Grand Prix.

St Mirren eye new striker before summer transfer window shuts
The Saints boss wants to add to his frontline but says the club may need to sell players before that can happen. Stephen Robinson says transfers in and out of St Mirren are still possible as he eyes up a new striker. The Buddies are looking to reinforce their front line before the window slams shut in under two weeks — with the view of getting a player who can offer something different to Jonah Ayunga and Mikael Mandron. Having already had one of the busiest summers in the league, alongside this weekend's Premiership opponents Rangers, the club have seen 12 players put pen to paper on SMiSA Stadium deals. And Robbo doesn't want to stop there as he looks to see what the rest of the window might throw up but concedes someone might need to exit before anyone else comes in. 'I'm always looking to do business,' the Paisley chief said. 'Maybe one has to go before that happens but we're always looking. 'A striker with a lot of pace would be a good signing for us. I think it would give us another way to win football matches. 'We're still trying to get people up to speed. We're still trying to find our best formation that works with this group of boys. We've brought wingers in who aren't quite ready to play yet. 'Jalmaro [Calvin] everyone expects to come in and hit the ground running. He's only played three pre-season games. He didn't play from the middle of April. He's not used to playing at this level. 'Malik [Dijksteel] is still getting up to fitness after having the flu as well. 'So, actually having the wingers available to change the system and look at other options hasn't been affordable to us so far, in the league anyway.' Although a core of the squad which has been successful under Robbo, right, have stayed on this season, 10 new faces join the club on top of Roland Idowu and Killian Phillips turning their loans into permanent moves. Liam Donnelly, Richard King, Ryan Mullen, Jayden Richardson, Tunmise Sobowale, Miguel Freckleton, Shamal George, Keanu Baccus, Calvin and Dijksteel have all entered the building this summer. Naturally, there will be a bedding in period for most of the players who have arrived from south of the border or further afield. However, after making the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup courtesy of a penalty shoot-out win over Hearts on Saturday, Saints are beginning to look like they are gelling together. And that is where Robbo has called for patience as he outlined how it will be a gradual process getting the team to its peak level. He said: 'What you have to do is remember the success that the core of this group has given the club. And with these guys, you can't rip it up you're trying to do is tweak slowly. 'They've got the quality, they've got the pace but they're not there in terms of understanding their levels of fitness. 'And that's something they have to do. It's up to them to get into the team. 'People say, 'I get chances, I don't get chances'. You get a chance every single day you walk into this football club. 'They're coming into our top-six squad and that is the goal — meet our standards.' The Buddies gaffer also gave his thoughts on the Rangers game being called off — then put back on again – after the Light Blues waived the right to a postponement which would have allowed them to concentrate on their Champions League play-off with Belgian cracks Club Brugge. He added: 'We wanted the game on. We're pleased that the game's on because it does disrupt things. 'You can only do so much in training without actually being executed in a proper match. So, we're pleased the game's on and we look forward to the match.'
