Conforto and Ohtani homer as NL West-leading Dodgers hold off last-place Rockies 9-7
Michael Conforto hit a three-run homer, Shohei Ohtani added a two-run shot and the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers held off the last-place Colorado Rockies 9-7 on Tuesday night. Trailing 2-0, the Dodgers got their bats cranked up in a six-run fourth inning. Conforto sent a knuckle-curve from Germán Márquez (3-9) over the fence in right. Ohtani lined his 27th homer of the season into the left-field seats in the sixth to make it 8-3. Ohtani finished 1 for 5 with a strikeout. His homer was the 300th of his career across Nippon Professional Baseball and Major League Baseball, according to research on Baseball Reference. Jordan Beck had a two-run double for Colorado in eighth to make it an 8-7 game. Teoscar Hernández added an insurance run with an RBI double in the ninth. Tanner Scott closed it out with a game-ending double play to record his 16th save. Justin Wrobleski (3-2) pitched five innings and allowed two runs while striking out seven. He took over after Jack Dreyer handled the first. It was a rough fourth frame for Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia, who committed two fielding errors and threw wide on another occasion trying to get a runner at home. Toglia had a productive night at the plate with three double and two RBIs. Márquez allowed six runs (four earned) over four innings. The Rockies dropped to 18-61 overall and 8-30 at Coors Field. They have yet to win back-to-back home games this season. Key moment Third baseman Max Muncy made a nifty barehanded play on a slow roller to throw out Thairo Estrada in the first inning and save a run. Estrada was originally ruled safe but the Dodgers challenged and the call was overturned. Key stat The Dodgers have 11 comeback wins in June over 22 games. Up next The Dodgers will send RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-6, 2.76 ERA) to the mound Wednesday while the Rockies counter with RHP Chase Dollander (2-7, 6.19).

Top prospect Christian Moore hits tying, walk-off homers in Angels' 3-2 victory over Red Sox
Christian Moore hit a tying homer in the eighth inning and a two-run walk-off shot in the 10th, sending the Los Angeles Angels to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. Moore, the Angels' top prospect and the eighth overall pick in the 2024 draft, hit a solo shot off Greg Weissert in the eighth. After Marcelo Mayer's leadoff RBI single off Reid Detmers (3-2) put Boston ahead in the 10th, Moore capped his 11th major league game by driving a slider from Justin Wilson (2-1) to right field. Garrett Crochet struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball for the Red Sox, who have lost four straight. Mayer had three of Boston's five hits. Angels shortstop Zach Neto left with an apparent injury in the ninth inning after making an error on Romy Gonzalez's leadoff grounder, but Kenley Jansen escaped the jam. Crochet leads the majors in strikeouts and the Angels lead the AL in striking out, leading to predictable results for Boston's left-hander. He issued three walks during his fourth double-digit strikeout performance of the season, but he didn't allow a run for the first time in 12 appearances since April 19. Mayer tripled in the third and scored Boston's first run on Nate Eaton's fly to right. Tyler Anderson yielded two hits while pitching into the fifth inning, and his bullpen kept the Angels close. Key moment Moore turned the game on a dime with his 10th-inning drive, which barely cleared the line in right for his third career homer. Key stat Boston reached the halfway point of its regular season at 40-41. The Red Sox have a losing record after 81 games for only the fourth time in the last 27 full seasons. Up next Yusei Kikuchi (2-6, 3.01 ERA) takes the mound Wednesday when the Angels go for the series sweep. Richard Fitts (0-3, 4.71 ERA) is the likely starter for Boston.

Yankees' RISP Troubles Continue
Yankees' RISP Troubles Continue originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Runners in scoring position. It's an important stat in baseball because the ultimate goal for each team is to win games. In order to win games, you must outscore your opponent. And to outscore your opponent, you need to take advantage of the opportunities presented to you during the course of the game. It's far easier to score when you have runners in scoring position than it is when you don't. Advertisement For the New York Yankees, this season has been a struggle when it comes to successfully bringing runners home who are in scoring position, especially in the month of June. The latest example is their 0-for-12 performance against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night. New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge reacts after striking out against the Baltimore Orioles on June 22, 2025, at Yankee Stadium.© Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images Looking beyond just the one game, they rank last in MLB this season in runners left in scoring position per game, with an average of 4.06 runners per game. Over their last three games, that number is even worse at 5.67. These troubles are especially pronounced away from Yankee Stadium, as their road average is 4.47, as compared to 3.68 at home. (Stats courtesy of In all fairness, those numbers are weighed down by a particularly bad recent stretch. During their last 12 games, the Yankees have an OPS of .391 with RISP. That's the worst mark in The League over that span. Advertisement As reported by The Athletic's Chris Kirschner, Manager Aaron Boone said the following about his team's struggles with RISP, 'I mean, baseball…You're going to have those stretches. I think, overall, we've been pretty good in those areas. I thought (Monday) our best at-bats were getting on base and putting the pressure on. They had them swinging and missing tonight when we had really good opportunities to score. That's where we want to be a little better.' If they don't get better fast, then they're going to watch what little is left of their AL East lead completely evaporate.
