Bentong district police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar said two reports related to the incident were received today at 11.49 am and 12.50 pm.
'The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code. Further investigations are underway to identify those involved,' he said in a statement today.
He also urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
A 55-second video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing several men involved in a physical altercation at the mall in Bentong. — Bernama

He said the arrests and seizures were the result of various strategic enforcement approaches targeting smuggling activities, particularly in Malaysian waters along the Selangor coast and the west coast of Johor. According to Hakemal, a total of 288 raids were conducted during the same period across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor. This resulted in the arrest of 1,005 individuals and seizures worth RM1.1 billion, he said, adding that the success proved the GOF's commitment to combating crimes that threaten the country's security and well-being. 'The public is urged to be the eyes and ears of the security forces, channel information regarding criminal activities to ensure that the country's borders continue to remain free from encroachment and illegal activities,' he said. — Bernama

Foiled in Setia Alam: Snatch thief caught after botched necklace grab
SHAH ALAM, Aug 5 — A man's attempt to snatch a necklace from a local in Setia Alam was thwarted when bystanders caught him yesterday evening. Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred at 7.07pm when the 37-year-old victim was heading to his car. The suspect, riding a motorcycle, tried to pull off the victim's necklace, but the victim fought back quickly. 'The suspect lost control and fell from his motorcycle. He tried to escape but was caught by nearby bystanders. 'Police later confirmed that the suspect, aged 30, owned the motorcycle but had used a fake licence plate. He is now under remand until August 7,' he said in a statement. Mohd Iqbal urged the public to remain alert and avoid being alone in isolated areas to reduce the risk of crime. Two-year-old boy found dead in sewer after falling through manhole in Sibu
SIBU, Aug 5 — A two-year-old boy was found dead in a sewer after he is believed to have fallen through a manhole at Jalan Pedada here yesterday. A Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre spokesperson said the victim, identified as Ehthin Ling, was confirmed dead at the scene by the Ministry of Health's personnel. The JBPM received a distress call at 6.29pm and dispatched a team of 10 firefighters from the Sibu Central Fire and Rescue Station, arriving at the scene four minutes later. 'Upon arrival, the boy's father informed the rescue team that his son had gone missing and was believed to have fallen into the sewer system. A search and rescue operation was immediately launched. 'At 6.55pm, the victim's body was found floating inside the sewer and was retrieved. The body was handed over to the police,' the spokesperson said. — Bernama
