Colleen Hoover's "Verity" Release Date Delayed
Colleen Hoover fans will have to wait until a bit later in 2026 to watch the feature adaptation of the author's best-selling thriller novel "
Verity
".
Amazon MGM Studios has set director Michael Showalter's film for wide theatrical release on October 2, 2026, after having previously dated the project for May 15, 2026.
Anne Hathaway leads a cast that also includes Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Cordóva, and Brady Wagner.
Director Alejandro Iñárritu's untitled Warner Bros. movie starring Tom Cruise is also set for release on October 2, 2026.
Nick Antosca wrote the Verity script following the previous work of scribes Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna and the team of Will Honley and April Maguire.
Producers include Hathaway, Hoover, Showalter, Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, and Jordana Mollick.
"Verity" centers on struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), who is hired by Jeremy Crawford (Hartnett) to complete the remaining books in a series penned by his wife, author Verity Crawford (Hathaway), after she suffers a mysterious accident. Lowen soon learns that a secret unfinished manuscript may reveal clues about the family's past.
Hoover's works are hot properties in Hollywood following the success of last summer's Sony hit "It Ends With Us", which adapted the author's novel with stars Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar.
Hoover self-published "Verity" in 2018 before Grand Central Publishing acquired it in 2021, and the book went on to become a New York Times bestseller.
Showalter previously directed Hathaway in 2024's Amazon MGM Studios feature "The Idea of You", which co-starred Nicholas Galitzine and adapted Robinne Lee's novel of the same name.

Labib thanked everyone who checked on him and supported him during the period, adding that he is satisfied with everything that has happened to him recently. He continued: "I have a swollen throat, but thank God, don't worry about me, and his voice has begun to improve." Father Boutros Daniel, director of the Catholic Centre for Cinema in Egypt, has shared an update on the actor's health, explaining that he suffered a sudden health issue in the past hours that required his transfer to the hospital, where he is in the ICU and banned from receiving visitors. He added that Labib is attached to his fans, loves them, and appreciates them, and asked the actor's fans to pray for him. "The best thing they can do now is pray for his speedy recovery," Labib noted. Born on August 18, 1947, Labib is an Egyptian stage, television, and film actor. On March 29, Labib announced his retirement from acting due to his health condition. "In my current health condition, if I get a role, I won't be able to play it because I prefer that my image remains as it was to the fans," he said. He made his final onscreen appearance in the 2024 film ' Ana W Ibn Khalti ' ("Me and My Cousin").
