Egypt FM holds talks with UK, Iran, and IAEA on Tehran nuclear programme - Foreign Affairs
Abdelatty explored ways to resume negotiations between Iran, the IAEA, and the E3 group, which comprises the UK, France, and Germany.
These negotiations would help restore diplomatic momentum and address concerns related to Iran's nuclear programme, especially with the anticipated activation of the UN sanctions mechanism on Iran by the end of August, as recently announced by the E3 group.
During the calls, Abdelatty emphasised the need to sustain the Iran-Israel ceasefire, ensure that hostilities do not resume, and support a political and peaceful path forward.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty's intensive communications also addressed the ongoing de-escalation efforts to reduce regional tensions.
During his call with his British counterpart, the Egyptian Foreign Minister addressed ways to develop and strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in trade, investment, and tourism.
On the other hand, Abdelatty and the IAEA chief focused on enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the agency in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
Throughout April and May, the US and Iran held several rounds of negotiations over Tehran's nuclear programme before the Israeli strikes on Iran began in June.
On 2 July, Araghchi, whose country insists its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes, said in TV remarks that 'the doors of diplomacy will never slam shut.'
Iran suspended cooperation with the IAEA on the same day.

UPDATED: El-Sisi urges Trump to end Gaza tragedy - War on Gaza
President El-Sisi made these remarks in a televised address on Monday. During his speech, the president highlighted Egypt's honourable, sincere, and relentless efforts in supporting the Palestinian people. 'Egyptians, I'm reminding you of this — we do not change: We are committed to finding solutions that de-escalate tensions, bring an end to the war, and lead to a final settlement of the Palestinian cause,' El-Sisi said. Gaza needs around 600-700 humanitarian aid trucks daily, he added. Over the past 21 months, Egypt has been committed to facilitating the maximum possible amount of aid into the strip, he noted. The president also affirmed that the available amount of aid and that which has entered the strip is huge, stressing that nothing obstructs it from the Egyptian side. 'Neither our ethics, values, nor our national and moral responsibility would allow us to hinder it. However, the entry of aid requires coordination with the other party present at the Rafah crossing on the Palestinian side," the president stressed. He stated that having the Rafah crossing designated for the passage of individuals, its operation is not solely dependent on the Egyptian side. "The entry of aid and any movement through the Rafah or Karm Abu Salem crossings requires coordination from both sides," he affirmed. The president added that over five crossings connect the Gaza Strip with both Egyptian and Palestinian territories. "Egypt is linked to Gaza through the Rafah Crossing and the Karm Abu Salem Crossing in one way or another." Moreover, El-Sisi renewed his call for the international community to exert every possible effort to stop Israel's genocidal war in Gaza, affirming that Egypt is working unwaveringly to alleviate the civilians' suffering exacerbated by the famine. He also emphasized Egypt's firm stance supporting the two-state solution and rejecting any attempts to displace the Palestinian people or liquidate their cause. Since 7 October 2023, Egypt has actively mediated efforts, along with Qatar and the United States, to reach a ceasefire, facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid to war-ravaged Gaza, and secure the release of captives. The president further highlighted that Egypt's consistent position is rooted in its support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He also urged the EU countries, the United States, and Arab nations to do everything possible to stop the massacres in Gaza, stressing that the humanitarian tragedy there cannot endure any delay. "Egypt will remain a faithful and trustworthy partner pursuing a just and comprehensive peace. It will continue to support the Palestinian cause, regardless of the challenges," the president concluded.

Trump says he is giving Putin less time for ceasefire deadline
President Donald Trump said Monday that he is disappointed in Russian President Vladimir Putin and that he was reducing the 50-day deadline he gave Russia over its war in Ukraine. 'I'm disappointed in President Putin, very disappointed in him,' Trump told reporters, alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer ahead of their meeting in Scotland. 'I'm going to reduce that 50 days that I gave him to a lesser number.' Trump said he has spoken with Putin a lot, adding: 'We've had discussions.' The US president announced two weeks ago he had given Putin 50 days to reach a deal with Ukraine before facing any consequences. 'We're going to be doing very severe tariffs if we don't have a deal in 50 days,' Trump had said. 'Tariffs at about 100%, you'd call them secondary tariffs. You know what that means.'

Israa Farhan Samsung Electronics has secured a record-breaking semiconductor order worth 22.8 trillion won (about 16.5 billion US dollars), marking the largest chip contract in the company's history, according to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency on Monday. The South Korean tech giant disclosed in a regulatory filing that the contract will be completed by 31 December 2033. While Samsung did not name the client or reveal further details due to business confidentiality, Bloomberg News reported that the deal is with Elon Musk's Tesla. Elon Musk confirmed the Bloomberg report via X, stating that the goal is to build a factory in Taylor, Texas, to produce Tesla's next-generation AI6 chip. The deal represents around 7.6 percent of Samsung's total revenue from the previous year and positions it as the largest semiconductor manufacturing contract the company has ever received.
