The Colorado Avalanche have given Joel Kiviranta another 1-year deal worth $1.25 million (AAV) after his career-best campaign in 2024-25. Kiviranta appeared in 79 regular-season games and made the most of his ice time, setting career highs in goals with 16 and points at 23. He put up three multi-goal games in December alone and netted his first-ever hat trick on December 22 against Seattle.

Carrying the momentum into the playoffs, his all-situation trust did not wane throughout the Avalanche's seven-game postseason journey.
General Manager Chris MacFarland noted that Kiviranta has developed dramatically, especially at five-on-five, enjoying great responsibility and becoming extremely important in the team concept.

The journey of Kiviranta up to this point is as impressive as his current game. Entering the NHL as an undrafted free agent in 2019, he has since placed himself in the limelight as a dependable, hard-working forward. Countless hours have culminated in 298 career NHL games with 60 points, and yet he keeps on evolving his game.

Another highlight is that he has played 51 playoff games with experience. People still recall that extraordinary hat trick he got in Game 7 for Dallas in 2020. Currently, on the Colorado roster, this guy's matured and classy into a mature and smart kind of presence on the ice.
