While the duo began their journeys together, Tendulkar went on to become one of the greatest players in cricket history, whereas Kambli's international career came to an end in 2000 after representing India in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs.
"Both had the same talent. You can't say my brother was greater than Sachin or vice versa.
They were both the same. I never heard my brother say he was better than Sachin," Virendra told Vickey Lalwani in an interview.
Virendra stressed that the bond between Tendulkar and Vinod remains intact, with the batting legend continuing to stay in touch with his old friend and his wife, Andrea Hewitt.
"Sachin dada has always supported Vinod. Their friendship is still very strong. Sachin calls and checks on him with Andrea," Virendra shared.
Reflecting on their cricketing days, Virendra recalled the camaraderie the two shared during matches.
"Sachin dada. He was closest to him. I don't know about others, but I saw them together when I went to watch Ranji Trophy matches. I would go to the dressing room to eat, and Sachin dada, Vinod, and I would sit together and have fun. We would joke around and have a good time," he said.
Kambli's career statistics underline his talent, with a Test batting average of over 54.
Tendulkar, meanwhile, went on to rewrite history books, finishing as the all-time leading run-scorer in both Tests and ODIs.

'She never experienced this kind of love': Taylor Swift finds the kind of love with Travis Kelce she never had with Joe Alwyn
Taylor Swift's relationship with Travis Kelce is different (Getty Images) Taylor Swift 's romances have always been a public story, but people close to the singer say her dynamic with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce feels refreshingly different — quieter where it needs to be, playful when it counts, and unusually reciprocal. Insiders tell Us Weekly that small, thoughtful exchanges — not grand gestures or spectacle — are what set this partnership apart for Swift. Small rituals and emotional balance that changed the game Taylor Swift found a new kind of give-and-take in her relationship with Travis Kelce. 'She leaves Travis love notes and buys sentimental gifts, and he does the same,' an insider told US Weekly. That line captures a shift from relationships defined by drama or mystery to one defined by steady emotional exchange. — updateswiftbr (@updateswiftbr) Reciprocity like this matters because it builds trust: when both partners actively give and receive, everyday moments gain meaning. For a performer whose career revolves around storytelling and emotional truth, finding someone who mirrors that attentiveness can feel stabilizing rather than performative. Downtime, privacy and why that strengthened their bond After a string of headline-making appearances, the couple reportedly retreated from the spotlight following Kelce's Super Bowl loss, spending extended time in private — at Swift's Manhattan apartment and later in Florida. Those stretches of normalcy allowed them to experience each other's lives beyond paparazzi frames: cooking, casual nights in and conversations that don't need a camera. 'Taylor thinks Travis is hilarious and she's never bored with him,' a source said — a reminder that compatibility can be as simple as shared laughter. Public moments that reinforce a private foundation Their decision to let fans into certain chapters — notably Swift's record-breaking appearance on Kelce's 'New Heights' podcast — sits alongside a preference for guarded, intimate periods. The podcast episode's viral reach highlighted public fascination, but friends insist the relationship's durability comes from the less visible practices: mutual attentiveness, shared downtime and a willingness to actively invest in each other's emotional lives. 'She never experienced this kind of love before Travis,' a source added — and by all accounts, it's the combination of playfulness, reciprocity and protected privacy that makes this relationship feel new for Swift. As both prepare for demanding schedules ahead, those small, steady habits may be the clearest sign they're building something built to last. Maple Leafs fans furious after former NHLer's absurd remark about Auston Matthews and another rising NHL superstar
Mike Rupp sparks backlash with puzzling remark on Auston Matthews and Jack Hughes ( Former NHL forward and current analyst Mike Rupp has found himself in hot water with Maple Leafs fans after making a surprising claim about team captain Auston Matthews. Despite Matthews' proven track record as one of the league's most elite scorers, Rupp suggested that he would take New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes over the Leafs' centerpiece—an opinion that immediately set off a firestorm among hockey faithful. Mike Rupp's absurd comparison stirs Leafs Nation While Auston Matthews is gearing up for a bounce-back year, Mike Rupp was busy making headlines of his own during a top-20 centers ranking segment on NHL Network. Discussing Matthews' placement at seventh overall, Rupp delivered the line that left many stunned: 'A healthy Jack Hughes, I would take him over Auston Matthews.' The comment quickly went viral, with Leafs fans questioning how such a statement could hold weight. Hughes, though immensely talented, has already faced more serious injury setbacks in his young career, including two shoulder surgeries. Comparing him to Matthews—who has repeatedly proven himself on the biggest stage—felt baffling to many. What isn't up for debate is that Auston Matthews remains one of the NHL's most dominant forwards. And if his clean bill of health holds true, Toronto's captain could silence doubters like Rupp in the best way possible—by lighting up the scoresheet yet again. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Colombia: New Container Houses (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search Ads Search Now Undo Auston Matthews proves his worth despite injuries Auston Matthews' 2022–23 season was anything but smooth. The Leafs' superstar battled through lingering injuries dating back to training camp, yet still managed to record 33 goals and 78 points in just 67 regular-season games. For most players, those numbers would be career highlights. For Matthews, they were considered a 'down year.' That alone speaks volumes about the kind of offensive force he brings to Toronto's lineup. This summer, Matthews participated in the annual Hockey Night in Brampton charity event, where he confirmed he's finally healthy heading into the new campaign. A fully fit Matthews means trouble for opposing goaltenders, as he sets his eyes on a potential fourth Rocket Richard Trophy. With his scoring pedigree and two separate 60-goal seasons under his belt, few players in the league can claim to match his consistency when healthy. Also Read: Can Auston Matthews bounce back?
