🏈 KDKA: The NFL is looking for local and diverse Pittsburgh-area businesses for its NFL Draft Source Program.
Executive Director of the Detroit Sports Commission, Marty Dobek, said the NFL Draft's Source Program did wonders for businesses in Detroit during the 2024 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh will be the host city for the draft in 2026.
'It allowed upwards near 60 businesses here locally to get involved with the NFL and the NFL draft,' he said.
If a business is headquartered in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, or Westmoreland counties they're eligible to apply for the program.
Dobek said the league spent $12.1 million on local minority-owned businesses for Detroit. Black-owned businesses got around 34 of the contracts.
🏈 The possibility of the Steelers taking a quarterback in the first round is 'slim to none,' per Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda.
'The team has told people at the NFL Scouting Combine they are not impressed with this year's QB class. The current sense is the team wants to move forward with Justin Fields,' he said.

🏈 49ers general manager John Lynch said at the NFL Combine they're listening to trade offers for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
'That typically happens with really good players. I remember two years ago having similar conversations. You get calls and you always listen to calls,' Lynch said. Carmel's carry-out alcohol program off to a popular start

Carmel's Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, which allows patrons to carry out alcohol from certain businesses in the city, is off to a popular start. 'It's a massive opportunity,' said Jeff Blair, owner of Fork + Ale House Kitchen Brewery near Carmel's Midtown Plaza. The district was activated on May 23, heading into Memorial Day Weekend. Blair said he had to ask the city for additional DORA cups that weekend because his business was going to run out. He estimated he sold about 800 drinks in DORA cups between May 28 and June 4. About a dozen businesses, including 101 Beer Kitchen, The GOAT and Bazbeaux, opted to participate in the DORA District. Plans for the district were approved by city councilors last summer. Patrons, 21 years and older, are allowed to purchase alcoholic beverages from the approved businesses, carry them outside and consume them within the district's boundaries. Businesses in the district can also opt to allow patrons to carry DORA drinks into their establishments. More Hamilton County news: Fishers panel votes down plan to build fancy condos for fancy cars The drinks must be sold in the DORA-branded aluminum cups. The district's boundaries are roughly West Carmel Drive on the south to 1st Northwest Street on the north, along the Monon Greenway, and 3rd Avenue Southwest on the west to South Range Line Road on the east. The city has signs marking the boundaries. Madeline Gordon, general manager of Wine & Rind, said the program allows her business to sell individual cups of wine to patrons that they can walk with around the district. 'People are starting to pick up on it,' Gordon said. "Once it comes to festival season with Artomobilia and the international arts festival, I think we will see even more people using the program.' Penn & Beech Candle Co. is one of the businesses where patrons can bring their DORA cups inside. Sarah Chait, director of marketing for the candle company, said her business is also looking forward to customers using the program during festivals this summer. Kelly Douglas, director of marketing and community relations with the city, added that there have not been any cleanliness or behavioral issues associated with the launch of the district reported to Carmel's street or police departments. Carmel City Councilor Jeff Worrell said one resident has brought up an issue with the district's boundaries being too close to their home. He said that the city's commission on the DORA District is looking into this and may adjust the boundaries. 'That's the purpose of the commission,' Worrell said. 'It's to hear and fine-tune those issues.' The city councilor added that he wanted residents to keep in mind that the aluminum DORA cups are recyclable.

Adam Sandler to cast Ravens RB Derrick Henry in movie if he rushes for 2,000 yards in 2025

We've seen plenty of sports stars make movie cameos throughout the years, from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 'Airplane!' to Dan Marino in 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective' and finally Michael Jordan and a plethora of NBA stars in the iconic 'Space Jam.' And we could see another one soon thanks to a bet between Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry and actor Adam Sandler. Henry, who is a self-professed superfan of Sandler's work, agreed to a wager during an appearance on 'The Dan Patrick Show' where if he reaches 2,000 rushing yards in the 2025 season, Patrick would get the running back in a film alongside Sandler. Henry agreed to the proposal and the veteran sportscaster reached out to his friend Sandler. In response, the 'Uncut Gems' and 'Happy Gilmore' star sent a personal video for Henry which was shown to the 31-year-old at practice. 'Yo, Derrick, I just woke up. You know that, that's why I look disgusting, on top of the fact that I am disgusting, but I love ya. Congrats on everything, baby,' Sandler said to Henry. '2,000-plus (yards) this year not only gets you in a movie, but we'll have a nice dinner together and talk about Dan Patrick's facial hair and how hard it is for him to grow it.I love ya and keep it up.' Henry replied to the video on social media afterwards, saying: 'Dan you're a real one! Adam Sandler is da (GOAT)!! I appreciate the extra motivation!' Henry has already surpassed the 2,000 rushing yards mark in a season before, doing so in 2020 when he ran for 2,027 yards while with the Tennessee Titans. Last season, Henry finished just 79 yards short of 2,000 yards, finishing with 1,921 in his first season with the Baltimore Ravens. He is one of just nine running backs ever to reach the milestone and would become the first ever player to do it twice if he was to do it again. Earlier this offseason, Henry signed a two-year, $30 million contract extension with the Ravens. And despite being one of the older running backs in the league, he says he's not concerned about his age. 'I want to be great,' Henry told. 'No matter how good it is or how bad it is, I'm always focused on me trying to get better each and every day and each and every way I can. I think, for you to be great, you have to focus on being consistent. You got to outwork everybody and that's the approach I have to take. 'I love football. I love playing. I know people look at the age, but I don't really try to focus on that. I just focus on: how can Derrick Henry be better? How can Derrick Henry help the Ravens get to where they want to get to?'
