
Another teen injured in crash against tree at Jalan Lintas

Kota Kinabalu: A 17-year-old sustained leg injuries after the Perodua Axia he was travelling in veered off the road and crashed into a tree along Jalan Taman Iramanis, Jalan Lintas, here, Sunday. This is the second known accident in which teenagers were injured after their car crashed into a tree along the same route this month. The first, involved an 18-year-old who sustained injuries to his face and chest.
Advertisement In the latest accident, a team from the Lintas Fire and Rescue Station went to the scene following a 7.32am distress call. It was not immediately known whether the teenager was a passenger or the car driver. The team arrived at the scene some four kilometres away within five minutes. A team from the Emergency Medical Response Services were also at the scene to assist. Using specialised equipment, the rescue team assisted the trapped victim, who was given early aid by the EMRS medics before being sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

"His loved ones have arrived at Gerik Hospital, but they have not yet decided where he will be laid to rest. I pray that they will be strong in facing this tragic loss." A total of 15 UPSI students died in the accident, which also involved a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and occurred around 1am along the East-West Highway.

Man refuses to pay bail for 16-year-old son who pleaded guilty to rape

(Pexels pic) PETALING JAYA: A man has refused to pay the RM1,500 bail imposed by the Batu Pahat magistrates' court on his 16-year-old son who pleaded guilty to raping a female acquaintance earlier this month. The 40-year-old man said this was to teach his son a lesson, after the boy's plea before magistrate Arun Noval Dass. Advertisement Berita Harian reported that the man, who accompanied his son to court for the charge under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, left his son there without paying the bail. The boy was accused of raping his 15-year-old acquaintance at a house in Batu Pahat between 4pm and 5.30pm on June 2. The section provides for up to 20 years' imprisonment and a whipping, upon conviction. According to the police report lodged by the boy's father, the boy committed the offence while his mother was at work. Advertisement On the day of the incident, his 41-year-old mother came home early to find the girl's slippers outside the house. She knocked on his door several times before it was opened, and found the girl in his bedroom. A police investigation found both the accused and the victim admitting to having had sex 16 to 18 times. Jogger thrown into drain in Tawau hit-and-run

TAWAU: A 34-year-old man was seriously injured after being hit by a Toyota Hilux and thrown into a roadside drain while jogging with 20 others at Batu 3, Jalan Apas, Tawau around 3.50am on Saturday. District police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the victim, who suffered head injuries, remains warded in the men's surgical ward at Tawau Hospital but is in stable condition. Advertisement The hit-and-run occurred while the group was jogging from McDonald's towards Bandar Sri Indah, with the victim among the front three runners when the vehicle struck from behind. CCTV footage shows the bronze-coloured Hilux speeding off after the impact, and police are now tracking the driver under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
