'F1' Movie Finishes With $10M in Early Showings Ahead of Opening Weekend

After a run of previews, the early results for "F1" at the box office are in and show some promise.
The motorsport movie netted $10 million at the box office during early screenings. The movie opened on Friday, June 27, though certain theaters were holding early showings ahead of the official release.
The projected box office is $115 million for the opening weekend, recouping more than half of the film's reported production cost.
The movie reportedly cost a total of about $200 million to produce - without accounting for the marketing budget.

Photo byJoseph Kosinski directed the film, which was produced by Apple Studios and features notable input from seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton was a producer on the film, giving his feedback on the accuracy of the movie to the sport itself.
The Ferrari driver also added to the story of the movie, according to Kosinski.
"Lewis also contributed to the story. I mean, there's a part in the film where Sonny Hayes talks about why he races, and almost the spiritual side of it," the director said.
"And that also was inspired by a conversation with Lewis. His involvement has been amazing. We couldn't make the film without him."
Kosinski also worked on "Top Gun: Maverick," making him the ideal leader of an action film featuring some of the fastest cars on the planet. Legendary composer Hans Zimmer worked on the music for the film.
Brad Pitt and Damson Idris are the lead actors in the film, portraying two teammates who battle it out on the track.
Ahead of the movie, both Pitt and Idris went through exhaustive training for the film, driving several race cars at different tracks.
"F1" features real drivers and teams appearing and making cameos, adding to the film's realism and connecting the atmosphere to what happened in the 2023 season.
The movie sees retired driver Sonny Hayes return to the paddock after his former teammate and friend, Ruben, asks him to come back. The fictional team APXGP is on the verge of being sold and needs a sharp upturn in form.
Hayes, played by Pitt, needs to mentor the young hotshot Joshua Pierce (Idris) as the pair takes on a mentor-mentee relationship.
The movie is set to be a summer blockbuster, pacing to beat out many of the summer movies, though it will likely fall short of Marvel's "Fantastic Four" and "Superman."

'I think me and David Fincher are the two best directors. So the idea that David Fincher actually wants to adapt my work, to me, shows a level of seriousness towards my work that I think needs to be taken into account,' Tarantino explained. Should there ever be an occasion that the mind behind both movies is needed on set, Tarantino assured that he would make himself available. "I'm moving back and forth between here and Israel, so I won't be on the set every day and everything. But, yeah, I'll be around if they need me to do something, you know, I will." Filming is currently underway, with Brad Pitt already spotted in Booth's legendary worn-down shirt, but there's still no release date confirmed from the big red N just yet as to when we'll see him in action again. If the sale had gone through, Partridge may have never even known that Lilly was expecting. "I saw the dad, named Donkey, in a Facebook post and I knew we needed him," Partridge said. "I was told that he was a castrated donkey, so I thought that's perfect. He arrived and he very clearly wasn't castrated. She continued: "I thought because he's quite old already, I wouldn't put him through the stress of surgery. So, I kept him intact in a separate field far away from Lilly. All was well until I woke up one morning with Donkey in Lilly's field." At the time, Partridge "thought nothing of it" and presumed that Donkey's smaller stature would prove problematic. Horses are traditionally measured in hands, with one hand equaling approximately four inches. Lilly is almost 16 hands tall, whereas Donkey measures at 10 hands. "I thought Donkey couldn't reach, but oh boy, was I wrong," Partridge said. As it transpired, Lilly gave birth to a mule on April 21, much to Partridge's amazement. She told Newsweek that was in "utter awe" when she saw the mule, who she has named Coco. Partridge didn't have any previous experience with a mule, so she wasn't sure what to expect of the donkey and horse hybrid. But fortunately, Coco has a wonderful temperament it's just like having a dog (a very large one at that). Partridge shared a video on TikTok (@ of the stunning turn of events, and the clip instantly went viral. In just a matter of days, the video has generated more than 5.9 million views and over 1.2 million likes on TikTok at the time of writing. The footage shows Partridge crying her eyes out over the prospect of losing Lilly, only to be surprised with a new addition in the shape of Coco. Donkey has now been castrated, and the adorable family trio lives together in a large field with Partridge's other horses. "The reaction online has been nothing but positive," Partridge said. "I share a lot of my life online and have built such a kind and caring community. Coco is just like a big dog—all she wants is cuddles and attention. And Lilly is the kindest mare ever." Since the video went viral, internet users can't get enough of Lilly and Donkey's little secret, leading to more than 550 comments on the TikTok post so far. One comment reads: "She's like hang on, I'm duplicating." Another TikTok user wrote: "She said you weren't getting rid of her that easily." Another person joked: "She said nice try your stuck with me forever." While one commenter added: "I bet you're so glad you held on for that little bit longer."
