Florida State lands commitments from Devin Carter, Xavier Tiller
June 24 - Florida State is growing accustomed to good news on the recruiting trail of late, as the Seminoles received two more commitments Monday following the securement of four-star signal-caller Jaden O'Neal on Sunday.
Wide receiver Devin Carter flipped from Auburn to Florida State (after initially flipping from Florida State to Auburn in January), while tight end Xavier Tiller, previously a Texas A&M pledge, committed to FSU as well.
Carter, the son of former Seminoles star Dexter Carter, is a 6-foot-1 playmaker who also boasted offers from Georgia and North Carolina, among others.
A four-star prospect, Carter ranks as the No. 120 overall recruit in the country, per the 247Sports composite. The Douglas County (Ga.) product originally committed to Florida State in 2023.
His father played running back for the Seminoles from 1986-89 and was a first-round NFL draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers. He later returned to his alma mater to coach the program's running backs under Bobby Bowden from 2007-09.
Tiller, considered the No. 204 overall recruit by the 247Sports composite, is likewise a four-star from Georgia (Langston Hughes High School). Standing 6-foot-5, he also holds offers from Auburn, Alabama, Louisville and Georgia.
O'Neal, previously a pledge to Oklahoma, hails from Mustang, Okla. and is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 class. At 6-foot-4, he is also a four-star, ranking No. 205 among all prospects.

Pirates edge Brewers on Nick Gonzales' 5-hit night
June 24 - Isiah Kiner-Falefa tripled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and Nick Gonzales had five hits as the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates held on for a 5-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday in the opener of a three-game series. Gonzales had two doubles and three singles, driving in two runs, and Tommy Pham homered for the Pirates, who won back-to-back games for the first time since a four-game streak June 6-9. The Brewers had their four-game winning streak snapped. Chase Shugart (4-3) got the win in relief. David Bednar finished with a scoreless ninth for his 11th save in 11 opportunities. The Brewers threatened in the ninth when Caleb Durbin singled to open the inning, but he was caught stealing when he slid past second for the first out of the inning. Pittsburgh went in front 5-4 with a run in the sixth off reliever Nick Mears (1-1) when Pham singled with one out and Kiner-Falefa tripled to right. Christian Yelich brought the Brewers even at 4-all in the fifth with his 15th homer, a two-run shot down the right field line off Shugart. Pham staked the Pirates to a 3-0 lead with a two-run homer in the fourth. Ke'Bryan Hayes walked with one out and Pham followed with his first homer, sending the first pitch 416 feet to center. The Brewers got two back in the bottom half against Hunter Stratton, who relieved Braxton Ashcraft to open the inning. Yelich walked and William Contreras and Brice Turang singled to make it 3-1. Isaac Collins blooped a single into shallow right to load the bases and Durbin followed with a sacrifice fly. Pittsburgh made it 4-2 in fifth when Bryan Reynolds doubled to open and scored on a single by Gonzales. The Pirates took a 1-0 lead after two outs in the first when Reynolds singled and Gonzales followed with an RBI double to left-center. Pirates rookie right-hander Ashcraft, making his first major league start after seven relief appearances, allowed one hit over three scoreless innings with two strikeouts. The Boston Celtics have traded away a major piece of their 2024 championship-winning team as they continue to deal with the aftermath of losing star Jayson Tatum for the rest of the season. Boston traded starting point guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in a late-night move just two days before the NBA Draft. In exchange, the Trail Blazers sent back shooting guard Anfernee Simons and two second round picks. It's something of a return for Holiday, who was sent to Portland by the Milwaukee Bucks in the Damian Lillard trade back in 2023. Holiday never played for Portland, as Boston traded for the player and sent the Trail Blazers two first round picks in 2024 (which the Blazers used to draft Bub Carrington) and in 2029.

Al-Ahly and Porto share 4-4 draw but head to Club World Cup exit
EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey, June 23 (Reuters) - Al Ahly and Porto shared a highly entertaining 4-4 draw in their final game at the Club World Cup on Monday but both teams will head home as Inter Miami and Palmeiras drew to progress to the round of 16 from Group A. Palestine striker Wessam Abou Ali scored a hat-trick and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane also found the net for the Egyptian champions but Porto pegged them back every time they went ahead. Teenagers Rodrigo Mora and William Gomes, substitute Samu Aghehowa and Pepe all scored for the Portuguese club as both teams all but abandoned defending in search of goals that might keep them alive in the tournament. In the end, though, the 2-2 draw between Inter and Palmeiras in Miami was enough to render all of the many other permutations null and void.
