It is still May, but with the release of the 2025 schedule, it is the time to start making projections for how many wins teams will have. Using one million simulations of the season based on roster projections from this month, Cynthia Frelund shares the win projections for every team for NFL.com.
What does that look like for the NFC West?

Analysis
The 49ers benefit from being a talented roster facing a last-place schedule.

The Rams have a tough two-game stretch in weeks 15 and 16.
The Seahawks' schedule makes a 5-2 start the most probable, based on simulations.
The Cardinals have the highest probability of starting the season 2-0.
It is interesting that the Cardinals, after leading the division last season after 10 games and making major defensive improvements on the defensive side of the ball in the offseason, they are still projected to have the fewest wins in the division.

Dodgers Land on Wrong Side of MLB History After Cardinals Shutout

Dodgers Land on Wrong Side of MLB History After Cardinals Shutout originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Entering their series against the Cardinals on the road, the Dodgers were on a high after winning back-to-back Subway Series against the Yankees and the Mets in their New York sojourn. Advertisement The team has been in imperious hitting form in the 2025 MLB season. Shohei Ohtani leads the National League in home runs with 23 thus far. Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Andy Pages have all been slugging at .500 or above this year. Their most reliable hitter, Mookie Betts, has also been in good form. However, none of this came into play during their Friday loss to the St Louis Cardinals. The Dodgers registered 10 hits during the game - Mookie Betts had 3 hits in 4 plate appearances. Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez, Freddie Freeman, and Andy Pages all had hits to their name. 3 of these hits were extra-base hits, too. They were shutout by St. Louis, who capitalized on their seven hits on the night to add five runs to their scoreboard in a 5-0 win. Advertisement This statistic paints the Dodgers' batting lineup in a historically bad light. As per Opta Stats, there have been over 12000 instances of a team registering 10 hits and 3 extra-base hits in a single game. The Dodgers are the only team of these 12,282 lineups not to register a single run on the basis of their hitting in the game. The St Louis Cardinals have been on a tear over the past six weeks. They have won 24 of their 37 games since April 26th and are second in their division. The Dodgers will be looking to be more enterprising and record some runs on the scoreboard during the remaining games of the series. Cardinals Announce Nolan Arenado News Before Dodgers Game

Cardinals Announce Nolan Arenado News Before Dodgers Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Sonny Gray and the St. Louis Cardinals blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 on Friday night to open a three-game series at Busch Stadium. In fact, they put L.A. on the wrong side of MLB history dating back 10 years. Advertisement Nolan Arenado led the team with three of the Cardinals' seven hits while Gray worked around eight Dodgers hits in 6 1/3 scoreless innings. A few hours before Saturday's 2:15 p.m. ET first pitch, the Cardinals announced their starting lineup vs. Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who carries a dazzling 2.39 ERA into the matchup. Arenado was notably absent from it despite his career success against Los Angeles. St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (28)Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images According to Sleeper's STL Cards account, "Arenado has played 154 games vs the Dodgers, posting an .866 OPS with 32 HR, 99 RBI, and 84 runs. One of their toughest matchups for years." Instead, he'll get a breather while Nolan Gorman, batting seventh in the order, fills his spot on Saturday. After seeing his name floated in trade speculation all offseason, the 34-year-old Arenado is batting a career-low .228 through his first 57 games in 2025. He has added seven home runs, 31 RBIs and 27 runs scored. Advertisement Entering Saturday, St. Louis sits in second place in the NL Central with a 35-28 record thanks to its remarkable May turnaround.
