Anthony Anderson addresses backlash over resurfaced Lindsay Lohan interview

USA Todaya day ago
Anthony Anderson is voicing regret over a resurfaced Lindsay Lohan interview that's drawing backlash on social media.
In a clip from a 2003 episode of "The Sharon Osbourne Show" that has spread on X in recent days, the "Black-ish" star spoke with a then 17-year-old Lohan, who told the comedian that she recently bought a place with her friend Raven-Symoné.
Anderson remarked that "both of you are beautiful women" and asked, "What gentlemen will be at the new pad with you and Raven-Symoné? ... I'm just talking about parties, get togethers." Lohan said she did not have a boyfriend, leading Anderson to exclaim, "She's single, but looking!" The "Freaky Friday" star then shot back, "But I'm illegal, for people that are old."
"Well, you know, some men like them young. We ain't gonna mention no names, but I'm one of them," Anderson replied, before letting out a hearty laugh.
As the clip made the rounds online, a representative for Anderson, 54, addressed the remarks in a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly and People.
Anthony Anderson hospitalized after on-set fight: 'Me against two goons and a chair'
"This interview was clearly intended as comedy," the actor's spokesperson told the outlets. "He regrets if the humor was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay. Any implication to the contrary is both inaccurate and potentially defamatory."
The clip of the old interview sparked outrage on social media, with one X user replying, "I cannot believe this isn't AI. There's nooooo way he thought that 'joke' out and said this on TV." But some came to the comic's defense. "Calm down. It was cringe joke," another X user replied.

The interview resurfaced as Lohan returns to the spotlight to reunite with Jamie Lee Curtis in the highly anticipated sequel "Freakier Friday," which opens on Aug. 8. In the 2003 interview with Anderson, the actress was promoting the home video release of the original "Freaky Friday."

Shocking 'America's Got Talent' act leaves judges Mel B and Sofia Vergara shuddering in fear: 'So scary!'

A couple of America's Got Talent contestants just made judges Mel B and Sofia Vergara part of the act, much to their distress. It happened on Tuesday's episode when two buff contestants took the stage, where they had set up a makeshift gym, not to lift heavy dumbbells but to throw them to each other. The men, Darien Johnson and Scott Mathison, explained that they found each other through social media, where they both share their extreme workouts. They've since collaborated on videos that have received up to two million views. After the former Spice Girl gave them a positive review — "that must be hard work!" — she and Vergara were invited to take the stage, without a description of what they'd be doing. The women were then instructed to stand back-to-back, after which the performers began to toss the the weights over their heads. "If you had to lose one, which one would it be?" their fellow judge Simon Cowell joked to Howie Mandel. Meanwhile, the women were visibly rattled by what was happening around them. "I don't want to be here," Vergara protested, although she stayed in place. Mel B insisted that Vergara "hold my hand!" She kept her eyes squeezed shut. In all, Johnson and Mathison passed the huge barbels back and forth over their heads six times. When it was over, the two judges hugged. As they walked back to their seats, Vergara noted that the experience had been "so scary." Mel B raved: "Oh my god. What you do is proper. Fit and hot." It was a first for the show, Vergara thought. And she appreciated the act too: "It looks really hard. Looking at your bodies, I can tell."Cowell and Mandel were also fans. "I think it's entertaining," Mandel said in his assessment. "It's a strength act. It's an agility act. It inspires people to be in shape. I think you checked a lot of boxes. I loved it." All four judges gave the act the go-ahead, which means they will face off against contestants doing equally dangerous acts such as roller-skating while performing aerialist stunts or throwing knives. America's Got Talent airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, with the Live Shows beginning Aug. 19. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

After Stepping Out Together With Their Kids, Liam Neeson And Pamela Anderson Were Asked If They're An 'Item' — And Here's What They Said

Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson are living their best lives right now while promoting their new movie, The Naked Gun. And their chemistry has everyone thinking the same thing. They've been cozying up on the red carpet, doing funny interviews, and Pamela's even been baking Liam sourdough and cookies. Now, the costars have turned their press tour into a family affair by inviting their respective sons to yesterday's premiere in New York City. Related: Liam was supported by 30-year-old Micheál and 28-year-old Daniel, whom he shares with his late wife, Natasha Richardson. While Pamela was joined by her two sons with her ex-husband Tommy Lee: 29-year-old Brandon and 27-year-old Dylan. Adorably, the six of them posed for a few photos, and I have to say, they all look great together. Related: As you've probably seen, with both Pamela and Liam currently being single, there's been a lot of conversation about their potential as a couple — particularly after Liam said he was 'madly in love' with her last year. In May, Pamela told Entertainment Weekly that they kept their relationship 'professionally romantic.' And it's safe to say they're still keeping us guessing. Related: On last night's red carpet, Pamela and Liam pretended to kiss during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. And this morning, the costars made an appearance on Today, where host Craig Melvin asked the question on everyone's minds: 'What's the deal here? ... Are you two an item?' Entertainment Tonight / Via NBC / Today / Via Liam and Pamela jokingly pretended not to 'understand' the question before the Taken star finally stepped in with some (somewhat cryptic) context. 'I had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry — as two actors,' he said. 'It's like, 'Oh, this is nice. Let's not mold this. Let's just let it breathe.' And that's what we did.' Related: In response to that, Craig replied: 'We're watching the beginning of the breathing of a budding relationship… America's here for it, we're here for whatever this turns into.' Well, well, well. Do we have a cute new Hollywood couple on our hands? LMK your thoughts in the comments. Jessica Williams Guests On ‘The Daily Show' To Say Trump Is Targeting 'All Of Our Greatest Black People' To Distract From Epstein Scandal

Fresh off of her repeat Emmy nomination for her role in Apple TV+'s Shrinking, Jessica Williams popped by her old haunt at The Daily Show to discuss how president Donald Trump is scapegoating famous Black people to distract from the mounting pressure over the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. 'Trump is trying to throw every Black person he can think [of] in front of the scandal to distract us,' the actress and comedian began. 'First, he released the Martin Luther King Jr. files. Then he accused Obama of treason. And now he wants to prosecute Oprah and Beyoncé?' Piers Morgan Says Late-Night Hosts Are "Hyper-Partisan Activist Hacks For The Democrats" & It's "No Wonder" Stephen Colbert "Got Canned" Williams — who departed The Daily Show as a regular in 2016, but has made guest appearances as recently as last year — continued, saying that the GOP leader is targeting 'all of our greatest Black people.' 'Who's next? Michael Jordan? Michael B. Jordan? Michael C. Jordan?' she questioned. The Booksmart alumna added, 'We're about a week away from him saying that Urkel did 9/11. Urkel? Did he do that?' Williams' tone did shift slightly as she considered that, as a famous Black person herself, she too could be a future target. When host Jon Stewart assured her there was nothing to be 'nervous' about, she hit back: 'Excuse me? He won't come after me? What, I'm not an exceptional enough Black person for Trump? Hmm? I'm not famous enough to be publicly accused of treason or doing 9/11? You don't know where I was that day. You don't know me. I'm sorry, but I'm nominated for an Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Comedy.' She quipped that she was famous enough to 'at least be accused of misdemeanor election fraud, you butthead.' When Stewart acquiesced and questioned whether the idea of being targeted worried her, Williams didn't sweat it: 'Because if there's one thing old white guys love, it's getting a compliment from a Black person.' Well, let's not generalize, Stewart said, before Williams proved her point by complimenting his haircut; naturally, Stewart folded immediately.
