U.P. govt gears up for launch of Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan
Building on the successful implementation of Sambhav Abhiyan since its launch in 2021, the Uttar Pradesh government is preparing for the statewide rollout of the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan, currently a pilot project in all eight aspirational districts, officials said on Tuesday. The Sambhav Abhiyan has completed four phases, driving significant improvements in maternal and child nutrition by 2024. Recent data shows that 65% of children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) have fully recovered, while 16% have moved to a less severe condition -- moderate acute malnutrition (MAM). The Sambhav Abhiyan, launched in coordination with central government schemes, aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 2, which focuses on ending hunger and achieving food security, officials said.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the department of child development services and nutrition to prepare for the statewide rollout of the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan after a a detailed progress report was presented to him, highlighting the campaign's success, they added.
Data shows that in addition to child nutrition, the campaign has significantly enhanced maternal health. Focused efforts on pregnant women have led to a sharp rise in health monitoring efficiency, from 6% to 51%, officials pointed out.
Under the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan pilot, children aged between 3 and 6 years receive take-home rations containing 400 calories and 15-20 grams of protein daily. Anganwadi workers actively monitor and update nutritional data to ensure timely intervention.

CM Yogi inaugurates UP's first green hydrogen plant in Gorakhpur
Gorakhpur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Sunday, inaugurated Uttar Pradesh's first and India's second green hydrogen plant, built by Ahmedabad-based Torrent Group at Khanimpur in Gorakhpur. The project, jointly developed by Torrent Group entities Torrent Power and Torrent Gas, will have an annual production capacity of 72,000 tonnes per annum Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the CM said green hydrogen is the energy of the future and highlighted UP's vast potential due to its abundant water resources. 'The Green Hydrogen produced at the plant will be blended with natural gas in Torrent Gas' City Gas Distribution infrastructure in Gorakhpur, maintaining its concentration up to 2 per cent,' the group said in a statement. The green hydrogen blended with natural gas will be further supplied to domestic households, CNG stations and industries in the region through the already laid network of natural gas pipelines. The CM emphasised that advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Net Zero vision is crucial for protecting life, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting green energy to safeguard the environment and public health. Aligned with the PM's vision, the plant marks a significant step toward achieving pollution-free energy. He said the plant will play an important role in various sectors including energy and power, health and prevention of various diseases. The CM added that the Torrent Group already has a CNG plant in Gorakhpur. Now, the new plant will enable blending of green hydrogen with CNG and PNG gas that will be supplied to households for cooking. The CM expressed hope that, beyond producing green energy, the plant will also serve as a centre for innovation. Green hydrogen is produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. The CM highlighted that Uttar Pradesh is rich in water resources, with water available at just ten meters depth in many areas, providing a strong foundation for green hydrogen production. The CM said carbon emissions arise from all polluting activities, including cooking with wood or coal. Highlighting PM Modi's Ujjwala Scheme, he noted that free LPG connections have been provided to 10 crore families to reduce health risks from smoke. He added that the Prime Minister recently announced increased funding and a package for cheaper cooking gas in the next phase of the scheme. The Chief Minister said that earlier normal bulbs were used in street lights, which caused higher carbon emissions and consumed more energy, producing escalated electricity bills. Today, with LED street lights, energy consumption has decreased and carbon emissions have also gone down. LEDs do not burn insects and do not cause bad odour. In contrast, earlier halogen bulbs attracted countless insects after rainfall. Lacking wind energy CM Yogi said that while Uttar Pradesh has hydropower and thermal energy, it lacks wind energy. The state government has set a target of 22,000 MW of renewable energy, of which 6,000 MW has been achieved so far, with ongoing efforts to further increase production. CM Yogi said that renewable energy requires supplementary sources, and in the future, hydrogen energy will be the most promising. While currently expensive, he predicted that it will become as affordable as mobile phones. The Chief Minister said that green energy will change the fate of the entire world. Today, the adverse effects on nature and human health have two major reasons: first, tampering with nature, and second, excessive use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers in agriculture. These are also the causes of cancer, liver damage, and other serious diseases. "Tampering with nature is leading to climate change. Rainfall is also being delayed. The rains should have ideally occurred in July, but now it is happening late. Earlier, during Navratri, rice flakes would arrive in homes, but now with delayed seasons, crops are also delayed," he remarked. 'Today, while some areas are experiencing heavy rainfall, others are facing drought. People are cutting down trees, pollution is damaging and contaminating water sources. Through these actions, we are jeopardizing not only human lives but also the lives of other living beings,' stated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. CM Yogi said that solutions to environmental challenges lie in human hands, emphasising natural farming and green energy. Praising Torrent Group, CM Yogi said the company has ensured electricity connections to every home in Agra and is providing cooking gas through PNG in 16 other districts. Highlighting piped drinking water and cooking gas as achievements, he added that gas supply through pipelines is part of PM Modi's ambitious vision of a 'Viksit Bharat'. Notably, Torrent Gas has licence to provide Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar and Kushinagar districts. Torrent has already set up 32 CNG stations and supplies gas to over 12,000 domestic households and 73 industries and commercial establishments in the region and intends to grow its gas distribution infrastructure in the region significantly. At the inauguration, MP Ravi Kishan Shukla said that the nation is witnessing CM Yogi's vision of development and welfare, noting that improved law and order and policy reforms have made Uttar Pradesh an attractive destination for investors from across India and the world. Welcoming CM Yogi at the inauguration, Sahjanwa MLA Pradeep Shukla said that under his leadership, Uttar Pradesh is being developed with full commitment, aiming to become a fully developed state by 2047. On the occasion, Torrent Group Director Jinal Mehta said that under CM Yogi Adityanath's leadership, Uttar Pradesh offers a 'red carpet, not red tape' for investors. He highlighted the state's progress in law and order and ease of doing business, noting that in the past eight and a half years, Torrent Group has faced no bureaucratic hurdles. He added that the Gorakhpur green hydrogen plant is not only UP's first but also the country's largest city gas distribution project. Blending Green Hydrogen into Gorakhpur's gas grid is a step in achieving a practical, scalable pathway to net-zero target of the country. It lowers emissions, builds demand for green molecules, and creates a platform for deeper de-carbonisation in transport and industry, he said. The programme was also attended by MLA Vipin Singh, CM's advisor Awanish Kumar Awasthi, State Women's Commission Vice-President Charu Chaudhary, BJP District President Janardan Tiwari, Kalibari Mahant Ravindra Das, and Torrent Gas Director Manoj Jain, among others. Super-speciality treatment now accessible to poor in UP: Yogi
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday asserted that adequate advanced medical facilities, along with the Ayushman Bharat card, has made super-speciality treatment accessible to economically weaker sections struggling with medical expenses for themselves and their families. (HT file) He was addressing a gathering at Jangiya Bazar on BRD Medical College Road after inaugurating the multi-super-speciality Regency Hospital in Gorakhpur. 'There is no dearth of funds for treatment. In the past one year alone, ₹1,100 crore has been disbursed from the CM Relief Fund without any discrimination or pick-and-choose policy,' the chief minister said. He said that super-speciality healthcare is now available in Gorakhpur, and common citizens are benefitting through Ayushman Bharat and the CM Jan Arogya Yojana. In cases where Ayushman coverage falls short, assistance will be provided from the CM Relief Fund or legislators' funds. The chief minister also launched the hospital's patient app 'Regency My Care' and inspected the facilities. He said that earlier, expensive treatments were beyond the reach of the poor, but are now becoming easily accessible. The new 250-bed Regency Hospital, with an 80-bed ICU, will serve patients from eastern Uttar Pradesh, north-west Bihar and even Nepal. Yogi Adityanath emphasised that the government's goal is to ensure equal healthcare access without discrimination. He recalled the days when eastern UP had very poor medical infrastructure and BRD Medical College was the only major centre in the region. He highlighted that today AIIMS Gorakhpur, new medical colleges across districts and advanced centres such as the cancer facility at BHU have transformed healthcare in the region. Dr Atul Kapoor, chairman and MD of Regency Hospital, said Regency Health was founded on the belief that world-class healthcare should not remain confined to big cities. 'With the launch of our new super-speciality hospital in Gorakhpur, we are fulfilling that vision by bringing advanced technology, specialised expertise, and compassionate care closer to the people of Purvanchal. This hospital is not just a medical institution—it is a lifeline for the entire region,' he said. Equipped with 80 ICU beds and eight modular operation theatres, the tertiary care facility offers comprehensive services across all major specialties. It also houses the region's first dedicated cardiac care unit with advanced Cath Lab, IVUS technology, and 24-hour bypass surgeons, making life-saving CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) surgeries accessible locally. This will eliminate the need to refer critical patients to Delhi or Lucknow. The hospital is also expected to generate employment for 800–900 local people. The ceremony was attended by Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, MLA Mahendra Pal Singh, Domariyaganj MP Jagdambika Pal and Gorakhpur mayor Dr Manglesh Srivastav.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates Regency Hospital in Gorakhpur
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath (ANI) GORAKHPUR: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday inaugurated Regency Hospital at Medical College Road in Gulharia, Gorakhpur. Addressing the event, CM Yogi Adityanath said that the hospital has "the biggest ICU to date," mentioning its 80-bed ICU capacity and noted that the hospital will benefit over five crore people. "The 80-bed ICU is the biggest ICU to date. You will see in the entire hospital how all precautions have been taken, which often leads to the spread of infection. If attention is not paid to any hospital, then it can become a medium of infection. This superspeciality hospital will become an excellent centre of health care for the five crore population of this region. There is no doubt about that. CM Yogi further highlighted that the hospital will give an ease of access to high-quality facilities in Gorakhpur, for which the common man has to go to cities like Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Chennai. "Regency Hospital started its journey from Kanpur. Now they have started a chain. The facilities for which the common man has to go to places like Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Chennai will now be available to him in his own district, in his own area. This Regency Hospital is presenting the example of that," CM Yogi said. On Saturday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath visited Mathura, where he inaugurated 118 projects worth Rs 646 crore and unveiled a Rs 30,000 crore master plan for the holistic development of the Braj region on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami. These projects include beautification of Parikrama paths, entrance gates, restoration of kunds facilities for devotees, connectivity, water conservation, and environmental protection. He described the bhajans, kirtans, and Shri Krishna lilas organised in the Panchjanya Auditorium as part of the devotional atmosphere. According to a press release, while addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said that Mathura reflects 5,000 years of ancient history and devotion. The chief minister announced a new master plan of Rs 30,000 crore for the holistic development of the Braj region. He said this plan will connect pilgrimage sites like Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, and Gokul with the memories of the Dwapar Yuga. He said, "Our government is committed to respecting the sentiments of revered saints and enriching the Braj region. We are making possible the works which were once considered impossible." He also mentioned the ropeway facility in Barsana, calling it a great relief for the elderly. He said, "This is the benefit of development, that we are continuously working for the convenience and safety of devotees". The chief minister noted that India has completed 78 years of independence and highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's vision of new resolutions for the centenary in 2047. Referring to the recent 24-hour discussion in the UP Assembly, he said society and government must work together to make Uttar Pradesh prosperous and developed by 2047.
