Is this £26 body wash worth the money?

Daily Mail07-06-2025
What's the story?
In 2018, West End performers Ed Currie and Andy Coxon, unable to find a product powerful enough to deal with the sweat of their intense physical work, created AKT The Deodorant Balm, a potent natural product. Their focus was on being plastic-free and gender-neutral – and The Body Wash Concentrate, AKT's newest launch, claims to follow the same ethos.
Why should I buy?
Triple-strength concentration means you only need a pea-sized amount, and there's less water waste. The aluminium tube is recyclable and, instead of a typical plastic cap that can't be recycled, AKT's is aluminium and so helps reduce the amount of plastic entering our ecosystems. The packaging is chic, too, and the formula super-hydrating.
Why shouldn't I buy?
It's expensive and we have no idea where the ingredients are sourced from, or how sustainably they are farmed, since AKT couldn't tell us at the time of going to press.
The extra mile
AKT is working towards its B Corp certification, and planting trees with ecosia.org, a search engine that helps restore biodiversity hotspots. The brand also has a key you can buy (The Assistant, £11) that saves waste by squeezing out those last few precious drops of body wash.
Made in
Hampshire, near Portsmouth.
Made from
Squalane, calendula oil, aloe vera and vitamin E.
Journey
Sea freight (for the aluminium packaging).

Ray Winstone recalls miserable role in Hollywood blockbuster

British actor Ray Winstone has criticised Marvel, suggesting the dominance of superhero films hinders the production of more "cultural films". Speaking at the Sarajevo Film Festival, Winstone stated the film industry is increasingly focused on ticket sales and actors' social media following rather than meaningful roles. Winstone expressed frustration over having to reshoot "all of" his scenes for Marvel's 2021 film Black Widow. He recalled being told by producers that his performance was "too strong", leading to the extensive reshoots, which he found disheartening. The actor, who played the villain Dreykov in Black Widow, previously described his experience working on the Marvel film as "soul-destroying".

Rhian Sugden reveals the striking difference after her breast reduction and lift - after going from a 32HH to a 32E cup size

Rhian Sugden showed off the striking difference in her appearance since undergoing a breast reduction and lift surgery in an Instagram video on Wednesday. The glamour model, 38, went from a 32HH to a 32E cup size after going under the knife in June. Loving her new look, mother-of-one Rhian continued to display the incredible results on social media. Sharing before and after videos of her breasts pre and post surgery, Rhian looked incredibly confident and happy with the results. She wrote: 'Love love love my boobs. No implants, just a reduction and uplift by the amazing Dr Hussain @pallmallcosmetics❤️' In a clip posted on social media before going under the knife, Rhian revealed her nipples were in fact 11cm lower than they should have been after 'gravity took its toll' following the birth of her son George, one. She said: 'I'm a bit paranoid about that and I just can't to wait to have them a bit smaller, perkier, uplifted, it's so exciting.' Rhian continued: 'My cup size at the minute is a 34GG, I can fit into a H, and it's just so difficult to buy a decent bra these days. 'Bikinis, I can't even find one to get into because my frame is so small and my boobs are so big so it's quite difficult. My back ache, ugh, honestly I must have to get a massage like once a week to try and ease the pain and tension in my back. 'I swim a hell of a lot and I think because my boobs are so big, when I swim my back arches up because they push out the water. 'So even swimming is difficult for me at the moment, not to mention not being able to get into a swimsuit. Having this reduction is literally going to change my life.' Despite Rhian being happier than ever with her new figure, she revealed she had been inundated with messages from trolls criticising her decision. In an Instagram Story that expired, she hit back at her critics as she revealed she had no concern with scarring and that she couldn't understand why anyone felt the need to comment on her decision. She added in a cheeky quip that the comments were coming from men who were 'never going to touch or be near her breasts', so it didn't concern her. Rhian pictured before going under the knife, with her cup size a 32HH, which she said led to back pains as well as stress finding outfits that would fit her perfectly Giving an update to Instagram earlier this month post surgery, Rhian revealed how she has already improved her swimming due to her much more 'streamlined' figure. Posing for a selfie in a yellow cami, Rhian said she had 'never felt happier' and was feeling much more confident. While Rhian previously shared how her husband Oliver Mellor was ' gutted' over her breast reduction, he's now comparing her to Pamela Anderson. Speaking to The Sun post-op, she beamed: 'Oliver was a bit nervous at first because he likes big boobs and he was worried about the scarring. 'But he can't believe how well they've turned out. He's very pleased with them. He says I look like Pammy (Anderson) again because they're so perky. 'They look good and they're still a good size. A decent handful for him.'
