FM praises distinguished relations with Spain
Abdelatty made the remarks during his meeting on Monday, July 14, 2025, with Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares on the sidelines of the 5th EU-Southern Neighborhood Ministerial Meeting in Brussels to discuss bilateral relations and developments in the Middle East, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
The Egyptian foreign minister pointed out the two countries' consensus as regards ending conflicts and establishing regional peace and stability.
In this regard, he praised Spain's stances in support of international law principles and its honorable position on the Palestinian cause.
Abdelatty commended Spain's supportive role for Egypt within the European Union, particularly in implementing pillars of the strategic and comprehensive partnership between both sides.
He also welcomed the approval of a macro-financial assistance (MFA) package for Egypt worth €4 billion.
The two ministers exchanged views regarding the Union for the Mediterranean Charter's ministerial meeting.
Regarding regional developments, the foreign minister reviewed Egypt's efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. He reiterated Egypt's firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians from their land and highlighted ongoing preparations for hosting the Cairo ministerial conference on the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.
On the situation in Sudan, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Sudan's security, stability, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
He stressed the need to preserve and support Sudan's national institutions and affirmed Egypt's keenness to interact with various regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and ending the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people.

Egyptian, Belarusian officials discuss drug registration, market access
The head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has met with the Belarusian ambassador to Cairo to discuss strengthening cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, including facilitating the registration of medical products and expanding access to international markets, the authority said. The meeting between EDA Chairperson Ali El-Ghamrawy and Ambassador Sergei Terentiev covered several key files, most notably ways to streamline registration procedures for medical products and equipment and to explore technical cooperation between the EDA and its Belarusian counterpart. The stated aim is to positively impact import-export traffic and increase the competitiveness of pharmaceutical products in both countries. In a statement, the EDA said El-Ghamrawy welcomed the Belarusian delegation and emphasised the importance of expanding technical and regulatory cooperation to enhance mutual product registration and support access to new markets. El-Ghamrawy affirmed that the authority 'gives special importance to strengthening cooperation with various international partners,' including Belarus, to help develop regulatory policies and improve the efficiency of the registration system. He added that these efforts are part of the EDA's vision to increase the competitiveness of Egyptian medicine, facilitate trade, and support access to global markets for the benefit of the national economy and healthcare sector. For his part, Ambassador Terentiev expressed his appreciation for the EDA's role in developing the pharmaceutical sector and said its efforts reflect a serious commitment to global quality standards. He noted that Belarus looks forward to strengthening technical and institutional cooperation with Egypt to exchange expertise and open wider prospects for joint exports to new markets. The meeting was also attended by senior EDA officials, including Dr. Amany Goudat, assistant to the Chairperson, and Osama Hatem, assistant to the chairperson for policy and international cooperation. The EDA said the talks fall within its vision to consolidate international cooperation and exchange expertise with counterpart authorities globally. This helps support the national industry by opening new markets for Egyptian pharmaceutical products and encouraging the transfer of technology and adoption of global best practices, the authority added.

GAFI chief highlights tax incentives, licensing reforms to boost mining investment
Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), affirmed that Egypt's strategy to raise the mining sector's contribution to 5% of GDP focuses on deepening industrial capacity, establishing value-added chains within mining industries, and expanding logistics services, including shipping, transport, storage, and supply chain management. His remarks came during the Egypt Mining Forum 2025, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, with the participation of prominent local and international stakeholders. Heiba emphasised that the mining sector has long represented a strategic partnership between the government and the private sector. In recent years, the Egyptian government has prioritised enhancing the sector's competitiveness through targeted investment incentives and infrastructure development, recognising the country's significant mineral potential. The GAFI chief detailed the incentives offered under the Investment Law for mining institutions, most notably the right to recover up to 50% of investment costs via tax deductions over a period of seven years from the project's commencement. Furthermore, mining projects can apply for the Golden Licence, which consolidates all required approvals and permits into a single licence issued within just 20 working days. Heiba also highlighted a range of investment systems tailored to mining projects, including special free zones and dedicated investment zones, which enable investors to complete all licensing procedures in one location. He noted that GAFI now hosts Egypt's digital company registration platform and the unified investment licensing platform, adding that the digitisation of services has significantly streamlined processes and supported growth in the mining sector in recent years.
