The Pittsburgh Steelers surprised many fans with a bold trade in late June 2025. As the deal broke, emotions ran high, especially for veteran defensive lineman Cam Heyward. While fans were still absorbing the shocking trade that sent safety Minkah Fitzpatrick away, Heyward shared his honest thoughts on the move, and what he really feels about welcoming Jalen Ramsey to the team.
Cam Heyward admits he was shocked by the
Minkah Fitzpatrick trade
Cam Heyward, one of the team's longest-tenured leaders, didn't hold back when talking about the blockbuster trade during an interview on The Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday, July 17, 2025.
The Steelers had just completed a deal that brought seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to Pittsburgh. But in return, the team parted ways with All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, along with a few late draft picks.

Heyward explained that at first, he was excited about the idea of adding Ramsey. 'The way it came out, I thought we were just bringing Jalen in for a pick,' Heyward said. 'And then I found out it's a trade with Minkah, and I'm like, 'Damn.'' The move was bittersweet for Heyward, who called Fitzpatrick a key part of the group. Still, he acknowledged Ramsey's talent and said, 'There's no shortage of talent there.'
Jalen Ramsey brings versatility to the defense, he can play corner, slot, or safety and Heyward is looking forward to seeing him and new receiver DK Metcalf on the same sideline.
The Steelers are clearly loading up for 2025, with one season of Aaron Rodgers expected at quarterback.
Cam Heyward says Jalen Ramsey adds fire to Steelers defense
Cam Heyward believes Jalen Ramsey will bring more than just talent to Pittsburgh. He praised Ramsey's competitive nature and leadership on the field. 'Jalen just wants to play ball. He wants to compete at the highest level,' Heyward said.

While Ramsey has a strong personality, Heyward made it clear that's not a problem.
'You've got to welcome what all a player brings, that's what makes a good team.'
The Steelers also face another major decision. T.J. Watt hasn't yet signed a contract extension, and trade rumors are growing. But Heyward won't let that happen without a fight. 'I'm going up to Omar and telling him, 'That's not happening.'' As the Steelers prepare for 2025, Heyward hopes Watt stays, Ramsey shines, and the team finally breaks its playoff win drought.

WI vs AUS: Australia thrash West Indies 5-0 in T20I series, become first team to achieve unique feat

Australia vs West Indies (Image via X/@ICC) Australia etched their name into the history books by becoming the first team to whitewash a full-member nation 5-0 in a five-match T20I series. The feat was sealed with a composed three-wicket win over West Indies in the final game of their Caribbean tour. Having already secured the Test series 3-0, the Australians wrapped up their eight-match tour unbeaten with an emphatic 8-0 clean sweep that underlines their dominance across formats. West Indies, despite flashes of aggression from Shimron Hetmyer (52 off 31) and Sherfane Rutherford (35 off 17), were bundled out for 170 in 19.4 overs. Australia's attack remained sharp, with Ben Dwarshuis (3-41), Nathan Ellis (2-32), and Adam Zampa (1-20 in his 100th T20I) keeping the hosts in check. The chase wasn't smooth sailing. Australia were rattled early by Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph, slipping to 29/3 inside three overs. Holder struck twice in one over, including the dismissal of Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck, while Joseph knocked over skipper Mitch Marsh and later claimed the dangerous Tim David. However, a brisk 63-run stand between Mitchell Owen (37 off 17) and Cameron Green (32 off 18) turned the game. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beyond Text Generation: An AI Tool That Helps You Write Better Grammarly Install Now Undo The duo launched a counterattack with sixes flying into the stands, including one that Owen smashed onto the pavilion roof. Zach Evans Net Worth in 2025: Early NFL exit caps career earnings under $1 million after surprise retirement with Jets

Zach Evans net worth in 2025 (Image via Houston Chronicle) Zach Evans' sudden departure from the NFL at just 24 years old has left fans and analysts reflecting on a career that never quite took off. Despite being a promising sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the former Ole Miss running back retires with total career earnings of only $920,832, well under the average for NFL players, especially at a skill position. Zach Evans salary and contract details Evans was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round (No. 215 overall) and signed a four-year rookie deal worth nearly $4 million as per Over the Cap. However, only $133,332 was guaranteed, and he earned just $883,332 during his short time with the team. In 2023, his cap hit was $783,333, but he failed to make a significant impact on the field. Evans played in 10 games, logging nine carries for 19 yards, mostly contributing on special teams. By 2024, he was released, and the Rams took on $99,999 in dead cap charges spread over two seasons. Jets give him a shot, but Zach Evans calls it quits Zach Evans resurfaced with the New York Jets in late 2024, joining the practice squad and later signing a reserve/future contract in January 2025. It looked like a fresh start, but just ahead of training camp, the Jets placed him on the reserve/retired list. The reason for his retirement remains undisclosed, though the move signals a permanent break from the league. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why Seniors Are Snapping Up This TV Box, We Explain! Techno Mag Learn More Evans showed promise in college, rushing for 936 yards and nine touchdowns in his final season at Ole Miss in 2022. However, his NFL transition never fully materialized. He earned just $37,500 during his short stint with the Jets, and the remainder of his 2025 contract—valued at $2.035 million—goes uncollected. Zach Evans' early retirement is a cautionary tale of how quickly a professional sports career can stall, even for talented prospects. His final NFL net worth in 2025—less than $1 million—reflects the financial volatility that often accompanies short-lived pro careers.
