Recruiting: Auburn among final four schools for OL Jared Smith
What are the odds that Auburn football has two straight classes headlined by talented prospects named Jared Smith?
The unique scenario is one that Auburn could face as a four-star lineman from Georgia, Jared Smith, has listed Auburn as a finalist ahead of his commitment date. Should he sign with Hugh Freeze and the Tigers, it will mark the second-straight season that a player named Jared Smith has signed with Auburn, joining the four-star EDGE of the same name that inked with Auburn in 2025.
Smith, a senior offensive lineman from Woodland High School in Stockbridge, Georgia, announced this week that Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Rutgers are the final four schools that he will focus on, according to Hunter Shelton of On3. Auburn offered Smith in February, but he has yet to set an official visit according to 247Sports.
Georgia appears to be the program Auburn needs to beat for Smith's signature. Smith has visited Athens frequently, which has paved the way for relationships to be built with the Bulldogs' coaching staff. However, Auburn has time to wiggle its way to the forefront before his August commitment date.
Auburn has the No. 28 class in the 2026 cycle according to 247Sports with eight commitments. The Tigers have one offensive line commitment from this cycle, three-star Parker Pritchett from Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia.

Tennessee is the No. 14 overall seed but is clearly one of the most talented teams in the nation. The Vols have been undone this year by poor defense at times and the inability to find the right pitching combination in Game 3s of their weekend series — they lost the third game in six of their final seven SEC series. Arkansas' roster is elite, with great starting pitching, tons of options in the bullpen and an offense that led the SEC in runs scored (by 41!) in league games. We won't get the Liam Doyle vs. Zach Root pitching matchup in Game 1 since the Vols are giving their ace an extra day of rest, but No. 2 starter Marcus Phillips is very capable of slowing down the Hogs offense. One prediction I feel good about: There will be some fireworks at some point in this series. T5 - LSU 3, West Virginia 1 The Tigers finally get their offense going with a three-run home run by Derek Curiel. LSU's offense has been spotty all season, but the Tigers needed that one to get some life into their stadium. B6 - Duke 6, Murray State 2 Kyle Johnson does it again with a double in the sixth to score another run. Johnson has two doubles and a home run in three at-bats, and he has driven in five runs. What a day for a player who is only in the lineup because of a suspension. He really has stepped up today for Duke. Imagn Images B7 - Arizona 10, North Carolina 8 The Wildcats have answered the Tar Heels' four runs in the top of the seventh with four of their own in the bottom of the seventh, and the Wildcats are six outs from a Game 3 tomorrow. Will the Heels respond again? This game is bonkers. The Chanticleers will book their trip to Omaha with a win after beating the Tigers in extra innings in Game 1 after a nearly two-hour weather delay. Ex-Louisville star Russ Smith arrested for suspicion of DUI, reckless driving
Louisville Metro Police arrested a former Louisville basketball star early Sunday morning for driving under the influence of alcohol. Russ Smith, a member of the 2013 Louisville basketball team who won the NCAA Tournament that was later vacated, was stopped after police spotted him making a U-turn across multiple lanes and noticed his license plate tag had expired, the Courier Journal reported after viewing the arrest citation. Police detected a 'strong odor of alcoholic beverages' on Smith's breath when they first talked to him, and he failed a field sobriety test after he told officers that he drank 'two bourbon pours neat' before getting behind the wheel, according to the arrest citation. 3 Russ Smith was arrested early Sunday morning. Getty Images The Queens native 'swayed' when he stepped out of the car and failed a walk and turn test, WDRB reported. Smith had a 0.073 blood alcohol content, but in the state of Kentucky, drivers can still be prosecuted if they have a BAC of above 0.04 but below 0.08 as long as there is other evidence to support the case. 'That fact may be considered, together with other competent evidence, in determining the guilt or innocence of the defendant,' according to the statute in the state. A police spokesperson told WDRB that 'we will allow the arrest slip to speak for itself,' when asked about Smith's BAC. Getty Images He was released without bond and is due back in court for an arraignment hearing on June 11 at Jefferson County District Court. WDRB reported that Smith is slated to play in The Basketball Tournament this summer, a winner-take-all tournament with a $1 million prize. Smith played four years at Louisville, and he averaged 14.3 points per game. He had brief NBA stints with the Pelicans and Grizzlies, as well as some time in the G-League and overseas.
