Kathie Lee Gifford Says She's 'So in Love Already' with Daughter Cassidy's Newborn Baby Girl (Exclusive)
Kathie Lee Gifford is more than happy she's gained a new baby granddaughter!
After news broke that the former Today host's daughter Cassidy welcomed her second baby, a daughter named Rosie, with husband Ben Wierda, Gifford tells PEOPLE she's excited to have a new little girl in the family — especially since she's Gifford's first granddaughter.
"Babies are the last great miracle left in life. They never cease to amaze you, astound you and delight you," says Gifford. "I am so in love already with this precious little girl!"
"I can't even believe I am saying the word 'girl' cause I got so used to 'boys,' and I love our boys, but this girl is gonna rule the roost. She is going to rule the whole world," she continues. "She is drop-dead beautiful like her mommy and as sweet as can be."
"I love to tell people that this is the first time in history that a baby has been born bigger than her mother," Gifford explains. "Cassidy is 5' 3½' and the baby was 9 lbs 3 oz. It's just unbelievable. She is as gorgeous and sweet as Cassidy. She is so happy because she is so healthy and so loved."

On Friday, June 6, Cassidy revealed she quietly welcomed her second baby with Wierda. She shared the happy news in a post on her Instagram, including a photo of her baby girl's hand.
"Rosie Mae Wierda! Born at 9:59am on 6/03/2025," Cassidy wrote in her caption. "You are a million prayers answered, Rosie girl. We love you so much. 1 Samuel 1:27."
Cassidy and Wierda are already parents to son Finn, whom they welcomed in June 2023.
The couple's happy news comes a few weeks after her brother Cody announced that he and his wife Erika are expecting their third baby together, sharing the exciting news on Instagram. In the sweet video, Cody and Erika spent time with their two little boys, Frank, 2, and Ford, 17 months.
At the end of the video, which included clips from the family's day out, a box is lifted to reveal a white cake, which read, "Baby #3 Loading."
"✨Gifford, party of cinco 🥹," Erika wrote in her caption. "🫧 Our little blessing on the way was prayed for, dreamed of, and is already so deeply loved. 20 weeks in and we can't wait to meet the newest member of our crew. 🩵🩷."
This past July, Gifford opened up to PEOPLE about her special relationship with her grandsons.
"I'm just so grateful for them. They're precious and they give me a purpose to get up every morning when everything else is just not the same for me," Gifford told PEOPLE. "Life is just so different and I just try to find joy when I can find it."
"And the only place I can really find it is in the Word of God and in my grandsons," she continued.

Dawn French has taken down a video she posted on Instagram about the war in Gaza, saying she apologised "unreservedly" for it. The video sparked a backlash, with critics accusing the actress and comedian of appearing to "mock" the 7 October 2023 attack. On Saturday, French acknowledged on Instagram that the video "appeared one-sided", and said she never meant to "mock, or dismiss, or diminish the horror" of that day. "I hope you will understand my intention was not to offend, but I clearly have. For which I am sorry and I have removed the video," she added. In the 40-second video, posted earlier this week, the Vicar of Dibley star shared her views on the ongoing war, saying: "Complicated, no, but nuanced. But [the] bottom line is no." Switching into a high-pitched voice, she went on to say: "Yeah, but you know they did a bad thing to us, yeah but no. But we want that land... and we have history… No. Those people aren't really even people, are they really? Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas-led cross-border attack almost 20 months ago, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage. Some 54 of those captured during the attack remain in captivity, including 31 the Israeli military says are dead. At least 54,607 people have been killed in Gaza since then, including 4,335 since Israel resumed its offensive on 18 March, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.
