Twitter reacts to NFL Network putting Myles Garrett's name for Pat Surtain
Denver Broncos star cornerback Pat Surtain was named the NFL's 2024 Defensive Player of the Year during NFL Honors on Thursday evening after finishing with 330 points in Associated Press voting.
Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Trey Hendrickson was second with 205 points and Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Myles Garrett was third with 162 points.
Although Surtain lapped the competition, the NFL Network and Fox broadcast must have mistakenly prepared for Garett to win the award.
During Surtain's acceptance speech on Thursday, the broadcast displayed Garett's name on the screen below PS2. Here's a sampling of how fans on Twitter/X reacted to the mix-up during the show:
I didn't know Pat Surtain changed his name to Myles Garrett pic.twitter.com/Wh2R2yyoXZ

Patrick Surtain ll receives Defensive Player of the Year while the scroll says Myles Garret! pic.twitter.com/nek92JtT8l
— Jimmy Ewing (@NicotineFitz) February 7, 2025
NFL Honors, get the names right. Pat Surtain is NOT Myles Garrett.
— Afton Forred (@aforred) February 7, 2025
Here is Surtain's acceptance speech:
Surtain, 24, is the seventh cornerback to ever win the award and the second Bronco in franchise history to take home the honor, joining Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Randy Gradishar (1978).
Surtain is also the first cornerback to win DPOY and have two first-team All-Pro selections within his first four seasons in the NFL. Garrett won DPOY in 2023, but it was PS2 who took home the honor on Thursday.

With Anthony Castonzo picked, who did Colts select in PFF's 2011 NFL redraft?
With Anthony Castonzo picked, who did Colts select in PFF's 2011 NFL redraft? With Anthony Castonzo off the board, who did the Colts select in PFF's 2011 NFL redraft? With hindsight being 20/20, who did the Indianapolis Colts select in Pro Football Focus' 2011 NFL redraft? With PFF using their grading system as their guide, they redrafted the entire first round. In this draft, following a 10-6 season in 2010 that ended in a loss in the wildcard round of the playoffs, the Colts held the 22nd overall pick and originally selected offensive tackle Anthony Castonzo. In this redraft, Castonzo went at pick 21 to Kansas City before the Colts were on the clock. So Indianapolis instead selected offensive tackle Nate Solder. "While the Colts would've loved the chance to select Castonzo again, they settle for Solder due to their original first-round pick coming off the board one pick earlier," wrote PFF. "Solder tallied an 81.6 career PFF overall grade and was a steady starter at tackle throughout his decade-long career." Solder was originally taken in the first round at 17th overall by New England. He is a two-time Super Bowl champion and played 10 seasons in the NFL, with seven of them coming with the Patriots. Solder appeared in 146 games, which included 143 starts. He was steadily one of PFF's higher graded offensive tackles for several years throughout his playing career. Castonzo, meanwhile, played all 10 of his NFL seasons with the Colts, which included making 144 starts. "Castonzo was very consistent in his 10-year NFL career. He logged 10,368 snaps at left tackle and earned a PFF overall grade of 76.0 or higher in all but two seasons — his first and his last, both between 73.0-74.0," wrote PFF. "He recorded an elite 90.8 PFF pass-blocking grade in 2014, his best season of work."

Draymond Green Did Not Mince Words on Chicago Sky's Blowout Loss to Fever
Draymond Green Did Not Mince Words on Chicago Sky's Blowout Loss to Fever originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With the season already over for the Golden State Warriors, former Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green has had more time on his hands. Advertisement As it turns out, the four-time All-Star has been following the WNBA, and Green caught some of the action on Saturday night. The four-time NBA champ, however, was not delighted with what he saw, particularly from the Chicago Sky. Angel Reese and Co. got themselves utterly humiliated again on Saturday as they suffered a 79-52 home loss to their biggest rivals, the Indiana Fever, who did not have the services of the injured Caitlin Clark. Green took to social media to share his brutally honest thoughts on the Sky's performance. "The Sky play a very bad brand of basketball," Green posted on Threads. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) reacts to an official during the first half against the Dallas Wings. Mandatory Credit: Chris Jones-Imagn Images Green is not the type to mince words, and he's made his opinion of Chicago extremely clear here. Advertisement As the NBA veteran said, it was a deplorable all-around performance from the Sky on Saturday night. On the offensive end, not even a single Chicago player was able to score in double figures as they collectively shot 32.1% as a team. The Sky didn't fare too well on the defense as well, with players such as Kelsey Mitchell (17 points, five rebounds) pretty much having their way against Chicago throughout the evening. Green is clearly unimpressed by the Sky's "brand of basketball," and after seeing their performance in this highly anticipated clash against the Fever, it's hard to argue against the Warriors star. Lesser-mentioned Ravens star lands on CBS Sports list of 2025 breakout stars
Lesser-mentioned Ravens star lands on CBS Sports list of 2025 breakout stars Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell earns national spotlight in new NFL prediction from CBS Sports It's too early to make predictions. It's only June, but even though the mind says 'don't get excited', the heart, more often than not, refuses to listen. This Baltimore Ravens team looks good on paper, and even though games aren't played on looseleaf, every glance at the roster produces adrenaline. This team sent 11 of its players to the Pro Bowl last season. All of them are back. DeAndre Hopkins was added during free agency. Malaki Starks and Mike Green were drafted. The new faces have an opportunity to add more punch to an already formidable roster. Then again, so do some of the guys who have already been here. May we present Keaton Mitchell for your consideration? CBS Sports names Keaton Mitchell as a player to watch Mention the Ravens and why they are a Super Bowl contender, and several names may come up before a backup running back. Keaton Mitchell was added to Baltimore's roster as an undrafted rookie free agent. Pro Football Focus named him as one of the NFL's best UDFA prospects during that offseason. CBS Sports recently named him as an under-the-radar player to watch in their dig on one player from each team who could make a surprising impact. Tyler Sullivan wrote this one up and did a great job. Here's some of his reasoning for mentioning Mitchell as the Ravens representative. "For a six-week stretch during the 2023 season, Mitchell was a lightning rod. The back averaged 8.4 yards per rush and 10.5 yards per reception. However, that run ended when he suffered a torn ACL that also put a dent in his 2024 campaign. Now, Mitchell is back healthy and noted recently that he feels 'like I'm back better than when I first got to Baltimore'. Of course, Derrick Henry will carry the bulk of the work out of the Ravens' backfield, but Mitchell could prove to be a change-of-pace option with home run ability for what is already one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL." Henry and Mitchell could provide some 'thunder and lightning'. The latter is no stranger to adversity or this Ravens offense. An undrafted rookie free agent selected after the 2023 NFL Draft, Pro Football Focus named him as one of the best UDFAs taken that offseason, but two days after making the 53-man roster, he found his way to the injured reserve. He returned in Week 6 and appeared in eight games with two starts before seeing his season end with a torn ACL. He began last season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list but was activated for Week 10. For his career, he has notched 426 yards and two TDs on 62 carries. Keep an eye on him as the Ravens begin another run, and expect some big moments because even though the opportunities will be limited, he'll be able to deliver a few.
