Two-year deadline for completion of irrigation projects
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has set a two-year deadline for completion of irrigation projects. The CM, along with Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, held a review meeting with the officials on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth instructed the officials to complete the pending irrigation projects on Krishna river by June 2027.
The CM suggested that works on projects that can be completed at low cost should be taken up at the earliest.
While instructing the Finance department to ensure that there are no hurdles in funding the projects in the Krishna basin, he said that the land acquisition process should be completed at the earliest. Special officers should ensure that works are expedited, he added.
The CM instructed the officials to complete the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme up to Uddandapur on a priority basis. He said that the pending works up to Uddandapur should be completed within 18 months and an action plan should be prepared accordingly. The Koil Sagar lift project should also be completed by June next year, he added.
It has been decided to complete the Mahatma Gandhi Kalvakurthi, Jawahar Nettempadu and Rajiv Bhima lift projects by December this year. The CM inquired about the pending works and funds required to complete the projects.
Meanwhile, the CM instructed the officials to intensify their efforts to get rightful share of Krishna waters for Telangana. He said that Telangana's interests should be given top priority. 'Since about 70 per cent of the Krishna river area is in Telangana and just 30 per cent in AP, we should argue before Krishna Tribunal for 70 per cent share of water,' he said.

YADADRIBHUVANAGIRI: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stones for a slew of development works totalling Rs 1,051.45 crore in the Alair Assembly constituency, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Friday. The projects aim to significantly boost infrastructure and public amenities in the region. Among the major projects for which foundation stones were laid is the Gandhamalla reservoir, a crucial undertaking with an estimated cost of Rs 574.56 crore. The CM also initiated the construction of a Young India Residential School, a project valued at Rs 200 crore, emphasising the government's focus on education and a medical college building at a cost of Rs 183 crore, promising enhanced healthcare facilities for the area. Further development initiatives include comprehensive works within Yadagirigutta Municipality, encompassing the construction of water, drainage, CC and BT roads, all to be taken up at a cost of Rs 25.50 crore. Connectivity will also see a boost with the construction of a high-level bridge in Kolanupaka village and Kalvapalli village costing Rs 7.50 crore and Rs 6 crore respectively. Administrative infrastructure will be strengthened in Motakondur mandal with the construction of Tahsildar, MPDO offices and a police station, a combined project costing Rs 8.25 crore. To support the agricultural sector, foundation stones were laid for 20,000 metric tonne capacity godowns in Datarpally village with an outlay of Rs 22.75 crore and 2,500 metric tonne capacity godowns in Aleru Market Committee at a cost of Rs 2.75 crore. Road infrastructure across the Alair Assembly segment will also see improvement with the construction of BT roads costing Rs 21.14 crore.

TG govt amping up fight against AP's Banakacharla move: Uttam
Hyderabad: State Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has said that the Telangana Government was intensifying its fight against Andhra Pradesh's proposed Godavari-Banakacharla Link Scheme and was determined to protect Telangana's water rights. The Minister said that he had written multiple letters to the Centre, exposing serious violations by Andhra Pradesh and demanding immediate intervention. Andhra Pradesh had failed to obtain technical clearances from the Central Water Commission (CWC) and from the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB), Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and the Apex Council, as mandated under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act (APRA) 2014. No project on inter-state rivers can proceed without these approvals. Andhra Pradesh is brazenly bypassing all statutory mechanisms, he added. Andhra Pradesh misused Sections 46(2) and 46(3) of the APRA 2014 to seek funds from the Union Finance Ministry under the backward regions development clause, Uttam said in an information interaction with the media here on Friday. These sections cannot override Part IX of the Act, which deals with inter-state river water management, requiring technical clearance, inter-state consultations, and Apex Council approval before any project proceeds. Andhra Pradesh had neither shared any proposal with the Telangana government nor provided any DPR or plans for scrutiny by the relevant boards. He noted that despite Andhra Pradesh's multiple letters to the Union Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Jal Shakti seeking funds, no DPR had been sent, and the ministries had merely forwarded Andhra Pradesh's letters to technical bodies like the GRMB, KRMB, and the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) for comments. This is not due process. It's an attempt to mislead the Centre and push the project without scrutiny. The previous BRS government failed to safeguard Telangana's interests. During the united Andhra Pradesh era, Telangana's rightful share was 724 tmcft, but the BRS government signed agreements that reduced Telangana's share to 299 tmcft while allocating 512 tmcft to Andhra Pradesh. This betrayal laid the groundwork for the current situation. 'They are acting like Goebbels Rao, repeating lies to cover up their betrayal. Even Goebbels himself would be shocked at the level of false propaganda they are spreading', he claimed.

Cabinet to meet twice a month to accelerate policy implementation
Hyderabad: In a bid to resolve pending administrative issues at higher level and accelerate the implementation of the welfare and development programmes in the state, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is said to have decided to hold one state Cabinet meeting every fortnight. Accordingly, there will be a second Cabinet meeting later this month. It is likely that Cabinet meetings are held on the first and third Saturday every month. During these meetings, the Cabinet will review every pending issue in every department and expedite policy making. Sources said that the next Cabinet meeting will also discuss the report submitted by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) on the multi-purpose Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. It would also discuss recommendations made by the Vigilance Commission against the irrigation officials involved in the construction of the project. In the marathon meeting held on Friday, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy made a power point presentation on the NDSA report and the status of three barrages – Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla, which were damaged. Officials said that the Chief Minister will take a call on the NDSA and Vigilance Commission reports in the next Cabinet meeting. Sources said that the ministers brought to the notice of the Chief Minister the development works that were pending due to administrative hurdles. In a quick response, Revanth Reddy asked his Cabinet colleagues to come up with an action plan and detailed notes on such important issues in the next Cabinet meeting. The Chief Minister and ministers will also analyze the status of the progress of each scheme and development work in every Assembly constituency. They will rectify the pending issues, if any, immediately in consultation with the officials. If required, the Cabinet will also summon respective Secretaries to seek clarifications on the pending issues. Issues like farmers' welfare, clearance of pending bills of the government and retired employees, Indiramma houses, issuing of ration cards, job recruitments, irrigation projects and investigation in the phone tapping case, Formula E race case and Kaleshwaram scheme will be included in the agenda of every Cabinet meeting from this month. Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao has already been asked to prepare the list of the pending issues in every department and present the same in the next Cabinet meeting.
