Netflix star apologises after 'leaking major spoiler' 6 months before finale
A leading star of one of Netflix's biggest hits has apologised after apparently leaking a major plot point six months before the finale.
Squid Game recently returned for its third and final season after becoming a global sensation in 2021 and continuing with season two earlier this year.
The thriller series followed the story of hundreds of contestants enrolled into a contest that sees them play deadly children's games for a massive cash prize.
Squid Game made international stars of leading actor Lee Jung-jae, who portrayed protagonist Seong Gi-hun, and series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.

The South Korean dystopian drama introduced Park Gyu-young in season two as Kang No-eul – a former soldier and defector from North Korea who is a Pink Guard.
Pink Guards are the members of staff who manage, oversee, and enforce the rules of Squid Game, often being the ones to kill players when they are eliminated from the game.
However, becoming a star of a major series means you're tasked with keeping a lot of information secret – and sometimes those secrets can slip out.
Gyu-young, 31, has now apologised after seemingly spoiling the final six episodes of Squid Game several months before they were released by Netflix.

In January, a few weeks after the release of season two, she published a behind-the-scenes photograph of herself wearing the series' famous Pink Guard outfit.
The final two seasons were released only six months apart, with season two launching on Boxing Day last year.
In the background of the photo published by Gyu-young, another actor from the show – Lee Jin-wook, who plays Player 246 – could be seen wearing a Pink Guard outfit.
After fans deduced it was Jin-wook in the photograph, they realised that they'd seemingly uncovered a major plot point – Player 246 was going to disguise himself as one of Pink Guards.
Gyu-young said (via JoongAng Daily): 'There's no excuse — it was a foolish mistake, and I've reflected deeply on it. Honestly, I felt a huge sense of guilt.' More Trending
When it was revealed that she'd accidentally spoiled the show, she said she 'blamed [herself] a lot and really reflected a lot on the responsibility that an actor should carry within a project'.
'I also spent a lot of time thinking about what it means to be more careful and deliberate as an actor. It led me to deeply reflect on myself in many ways,' she said.
Gyu-young has said that Netflix didn't punish her or seek compensation from her, but instead reminded her that she should be more careful with her social media posts in the future.

Hollyoaks legend arrested for murder - and it's not Jez
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday's (August 19) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm. Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) has been arrested over the death of Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe) after his presence at the scene of the crime was revealed during the funeral. Bobby, as viewers know, escaped from prison earlier this year while serving time in prison for the killing of both Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle) and Verity Hutchinson (Eva O'Hara). Fans will also remember that the boy attempted to murder Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) – who was seeing his mum at the time – as he set a fire in Price Slice, which led to DeMarcus' (Tomi Ade) life being put in danger. Tony had long held animosity towards Bobby for taking the life of sister Verity, which led to numerous showdowns between he and Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe). In an unexpected turn of events, sparks flew between the warring duo, with an affair commencing shortly afterwards. Mercedes, however, ultimately knew that Tony's true heart lay with Diane (Alex Fletcher) and therefore they called things off. In reality, the boy was murdered by Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield), who has killed numerous characters over the past year. Tuesday's offering of the long-running soap saw Mercedes in tears as she prepared to say goodbye to Bobby on the day of his funeral, while John Paul (James Sutton) – who was present during Bobby's demise – attempted to remember what happened on the day of his nephew's death as he struggled with flashbacks. Tony was taken aback when Mercedes asked him to attend the funeral – which was being live-streamed – with her and soon Diane discovered that the two characters had been secretly sleeping together. In emotional scenes, Diane stormed over to the church and berated Tony for cheating on her, with Mercedes confirming that they'd seen each other briefly – but assured Di that they were over. Diane, who had assisted Tony in getting rid of the car he believed killed Bobby, let slip about her husband's alleged role in Bobby's death, much to the horror of Mercedes. Jez, who was recovering in hospital following his fall last week, was watching on the livestream and he was filled with glee to see someone else get the blame for his crime. Mercedes slapped Tony and ordered everyone out of the church, while Diane made it quite clear that she and Tone were over for good. The homegrown success sees Matthew Goode, 47, as Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck, an emotionally scarred detective who becomes the head of cold case unit. He will return along with his team of misfits – Alexej Manvelov, 43, as Akram, Leah Byrne, 28, as Rose and Jamie Sives, 52, as Hardy. Dumbarton Studios has been the home of filming for River City for 23 years BBC Scotland announced it plans to close the facility after it was revealed in March that the popular soap will be axed. Dumbarton Studios has been described as a "vital hub" for the country's television industry. It has helped develop local talent and has been a location for filming other shows, such as Still Game, Shetland and Two Doors Down. BBC Scotland's lease on Dumbarton Studios will come to an end in September next year. Firewalker Pictures is seeking to take over the facility and safeguard its future. Maureen Hascoet, director of the production firm, hailed Dumbarton Studios and said "it deserves more than to fade into history". She added: "Our vision is to preserve its heritage while opening the doors to fresh voices, emerging filmmakers, and groundbreaking content. Who we choose to be right now as an industry and how we show up in this deal will determine our destiny. "It's about more than preserving Scotland's film and TV infrastructure. Swatch sorry for 'slanted eyes' ad after China uproar

The image prompted uproar amid accusations it resembled the racist 'slanted eye' gesture used to mock Asians. Swatch has since apologised and taken down the advert online. The company said in a post on Instagram and Chinese social media channel Weibo that it had 'taken note of the recent concerns regarding the portrayal of a model'. 'We sincerely apologize for any distress or misunderstanding this may have caused,' they added. The watchmaker's response has failed to quieten anger in China around the picture. One Weibo poster, who has more than 1 million followers, accused Swatch of 'racism against Chinese'. Another wrote: 'They make money from us and still dare to discriminate against Chinese people. We would be spineless if we don't boycott it out of China.' Swatch, whose brands also include Blancpain, Longines, and Tissot, rakes in around 27% of its revenue from China, Hong Kong, and Macau. However the company has seen falling sales in China due to the country's economic slowdown. The group blamed an 11.2% drop in net sales for the first six months of the year on poor demand in China. Other luxury brands have also faced accusations of racism from their adverts. French company Dior sparked outrage after an advert showed a model pulling the corner of her eye.
