Hollyoaks legend arrested for murder - and it's not Jez

Metro15 hours ago
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday's (August 19) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) has been arrested over the death of Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe) after his presence at the scene of the crime was revealed during the funeral.
Bobby, as viewers know, escaped from prison earlier this year while serving time in prison for the killing of both Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle) and Verity Hutchinson (Eva O'Hara).
Fans will also remember that the boy attempted to murder Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) – who was seeing his mum at the time – as he set a fire in Price Slice, which led to DeMarcus' (Tomi Ade) life being put in danger.
Tony had long held animosity towards Bobby for taking the life of sister Verity, which led to numerous showdowns between he and Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe).
In an unexpected turn of events, sparks flew between the warring duo, with an affair commencing shortly afterwards. Mercedes, however, ultimately knew that Tony's true heart lay with Diane (Alex Fletcher) and therefore they called things off.

The situation escalated dramatically last month when Tony came to believe that he'd killed Bobby in a hit-and-run.
In reality, the boy was murdered by Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield), who has killed numerous characters over the past year.
Tuesday's offering of the long-running soap saw Mercedes in tears as she prepared to say goodbye to Bobby on the day of his funeral, while John Paul (James Sutton) – who was present during Bobby's demise – attempted to remember what happened on the day of his nephew's death as he struggled with flashbacks.
Tony was taken aback when Mercedes asked him to attend the funeral – which was being live-streamed – with her and soon Diane discovered that the two characters had been secretly sleeping together.
In emotional scenes, Diane stormed over to the church and berated Tony for cheating on her, with Mercedes confirming that they'd seen each other briefly – but assured Di that they were over.
Diane, who had assisted Tony in getting rid of the car he believed killed Bobby, let slip about her husband's alleged role in Bobby's death, much to the horror of Mercedes.
Jez, who was recovering in hospital following his fall last week, was watching on the livestream and he was filled with glee to see someone else get the blame for his crime.
Mercedes slapped Tony and ordered everyone out of the church, while Diane made it quite clear that she and Tone were over for good. More Trending
In heartwrenching scenes, the police arrived to take Tony away as the village watched on. The question is: is Tony going to be sentenced to prison for a crime he did not commit? Will Jez really get away with his murderous actions?
Or can Sienna (Anna Passey), who knows all about Jez's dastardly deeds, expose her father for the killer that he is and secure Tony's freedom in the process?
Later this week, Sienna heads to the police station, hoping to speak to Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) about what she knows but, to her horror, Jez appears before her very eyes.

Christine McGuinness breaks down in tears as she quits Celebs Go Dating as she makes vow

Christine McGuinness broke down in tears as she made the decision to leave Celebs Go Dating before filming had finished Christine McGuinness broke down in tears as she made the decision to leave the Celebs Go Dating agency just days into filming. ‌ The reality star, 37, signed up for the latest series of the E4 dating programme following her divorce from Paddy McGuinness, and while she was trying to look for love again, things did not go to plan when she flew off to Ibiza with the programme and couldn't cope with being away from her children. ‌ She told dating agent Anna Williamson and her fellow relationship expert Paul C. Brunson: "I have been thinking quite a lot while we've been in Ibiza, I need to date in a natural environment. It takes me a long time to sit in front of someone." It comes after Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez pulls out of show. ‌ Christine is mother to ten-year-old twins Leo and Penelope, and seven-year-old Felicity with the former Take Me Out star, and insisted that the 'only love' she needed was the kind she has at home from her children. She said: "I've found the outside attention too much and I've found myself finding that I'm hiding more and that's not what I want. I've found the outside attention too much and I've found myself finding that I'm hiding more and that's not what I want." Through tears, she added: "I thought 'Just rip the Band-Aid off' but I want to decide how much I want to share publicly. I've been missing the kids loads this week and all the love I need is waiting for me at home. I know I've only been here for a few days but I just need a cuddle from my kids." Things had not been looking too hopeful for Christine, as, earlier in the episode she was seen having a heart-to-heart with S Club 7 star Jon Lee. She told him: "You seem a bit more excited about having more dates whereas I'm petrified because I feel very unexperienced. The one date I've done, I don't know if I was a good date or not, I've got no idea." Despite the heartbreak, Christine admitted in a confessional that the reality show has made it clear about what she wants from her love life going forward. She said: "These last few days in Ibiza have confirmed for me that I just need to take things a little bit slower. ‌ "I am ready to date and I am excited about meeting somebody in the future but right now I need to do things in baby steps." Last week, the former Real Housewives star headed on a date in Ibiza with Leanne. Christine and Leanne met during the first mixer, but it seemed like the mum of three was out of her depth. Viewers saw Christine struggle to make a decision on who to take to Ibiza from the mixer, revealing that she hated letting people down. Christine's date didn't hold back, getting straight into the deep questions, by asking: "How are you finding this, dating in general?" ‌ "I haven't dated an awful lot," the model replied. Emotionally opening up, Christine added: "I was married for a long time. It took me a while to even think about spending time with anyone." The occasional Loose Women panellist, who has dated women since her divorce, continued: "The women that I've spent time with in the last couple of years, I already knew them. So I didn't have that anxiety," she laughed as the pair spoke about how daunting dating could be. ‌ Leanne is also a mother of three, as she told her date that she was having "me time" away in Ibiza. Do you feel okay about it?" Christine asked, as Leanne confirmed she did. "Me too," Christine continued. "I think I carried mum guilt for far too long. Every now and then, it creeps back in." As Christine's first date at the agency came to a close, she told the camera "it went really, really well," and gushed about how Leanne made her feel comfortable. The feelings were mutual with Leanne, as she told the cameras she wanted to go on another date, although Christine wasn't sure whether the connection could grow into anything deeper. ‌ It came after Christine opened up to celebrity dating agents Anna Williamson and Paul C Brunson about her split from ex-husband, Paddy McGuinness in 2022. "Anyone can make mistakes but I think the trust was broken," she explained. "I'll always love him, he's the father of my children and I think he's the only man that I'll ever love," she said. "A lot of people make mistakes and mess up, and when you're in a couple who is quite well known in the industry, obviously then everyone knows your business. He was getting a really, really difficult time in the press," she continued - although she didn't expand on the 'mistakes'.

Food influencers narrowly escape death as car crashes into table mid-review

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A food blogger couple were mid-bite recording a review when a car smashed through the restaurant and showered them with glass shards. Influencers Nina Unrated and Patrick Blackwood were filming with a table full of food at CuVee's Culinary Creations in Houston, Texas, when an SUV rammed into the establishment. They had just done a cheers tap with their salmon sliders and were a few chews in and reacting 'mmm' with satisfaction, when glass went flying in front of them. The footage, including a slow motion version, was shared on Instagram by Nina on Monday and showed the couple blown off their seats to the left, with their faces overcome with shock. Nina fell off the booth, and Patrick followed shortly after with glass pieces all over his lap. Four employees at the restaurant at the back near the bar and kitchen watched with their jaws dropped. The influencers said they were 'just sitting in a cozy booth at our favorite restaurant, enjoying happy hour with an amazing spread of salmon sliders, presidential oysters, a macaroni and cheese flight (classic, lobster, and truffle), shrimp and grits, and some refreshing drinks', and that the SUV crashed through at 35 to 40mph. 'No warning at all, glass shattered everywhere, chaos erupted, and it hit right next to Patrick on the outside of the booth,' said Nina, who has 230,000 Instagram followers. 'We were inches from disaster, but by some miracle, we're both okay, just shaken and forever changed.' In separate social media posts, each of them revealed their injuries. Nina had cuts and bruises on her face and body and was recovering at a hospital. Patrick, who has more than 40,000 Instagram followers, had wounds on his face and head and stitches on cuts on his body. 'Grateful to see another day, walking away from the small stuff with a big purpose,' he said. The restaurant owner told TMZ that the SUV driver was unscathed and that she will be held accountable for the damages to the business. Authorities told the media outlet that the driver was not impaired and that it was a freak accident. More Trending Nina posted that she was 'beyond grateful to be alive'. 'This experience showed me who truly matters; life's too short for grudges or anger. Let go, forgive, live in the now, and cherish those around you,' she wrote. 'This could've been our last meal.' It happened more than seven months after a Porsche SUV crashed into a barber shop in West Houston that was full of customers and hit a 10-year-old boy. The terrifying moment was captured on a Ring camera and showed debris flying and people running in all directions. The boy was rushed to a hospital and had surgery for internal bleeding. EXCLUSIVE: Tony Banks hits out at former Tayside Aviation owners

Tony Banks has reignited his war of words with the former owners of Tayside Aviation after a senior engineer admitted falsifying flight records. Stuart McPherson, 67, is awaiting sentence after showing a 'blatant disregard' for aircraft safety by making bogus logbook entries at the now-defunct Dundee flight school. Mr Banks has now revealed he raised the alarm, before spending a six-figure sum on ensuring the planes were safe for students to use. He has broken his silence on the issue less than a month after a separate court case which ruled the company's previous owners James and Kathleen Watt had not 'fairly and accurately disclosed' a change in their firm's accounting policy. The Secret Millionaire star says this judgment vindicated him from being seen as responsible for Tayside Aviation's collapse. A second hearing regarding possible compensation will be held at a later date. Mr Banks, who found fame on the Channel 4 show, has maintained for years he was not to blame for the collapse of Tayside Aviation. When the air training school collapsed in April 2023 under his ownership, 22 people found themselves suddenly unemployed and students were left thousands of pounds out of pocket. He claims he was misled by husband and wife James and Kathleen Watt — claims they defended at the Court of Session. Speaking to The Courier this week, Mr Banks said: 'When we took over Tayside Aviation, we uncovered issues with the maintenance of aircraft and the recording process used under the management of the previous owners, James and Kathleen Watt. 'We reported our concerns to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as soon as we found out what was going on and then spent hundreds of thousands of pounds ensuring the aircraft were safe for students to use. 'We have not been able to talk about this until now for obvious legal reasons. 'However, this prosecution, coupled with the judgement issued by Lord Braid last month that ruled the previous owners breached a warranty that led to us being misled during the sale of the business, shows that the collapse of Tayside Aviation was sadly unavoidable. 'We invested around £1.5 million into the business to address the aircraft safety issues and to deal with cashflow problems caused by the accounting process, but, in the end, we simply couldn't save Tayside Aviation. 'We have always been unfairly blamed for Tayside Aviation going under but this prosecution and the Court of Session judgement show that blame lies firmly elsewhere.' The relationship between Mr Banks and the Watts wasn't always turbulent. In 2022, when it was announced the Balhousie Care founder had bought the flight school, Mr Watt was originally staying on to run it. They had both served in the armed forces — Tony Banks is a veteran of the parachute regiment and the Falklands War, while aviator Jim had been in the Royal Navy. But their relationship unravelled publicly in 2023 after Tayside Aviation plunged into administration, culminating in a series of court actions. Last month we reported on a judgement made by Lord Braid, which ruled the Watts had not disclosed a change in their firm's accounting policy. Mr Banks also says he paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to fix the 'aircraft safety issues' uncovered after former employee Mr McPherson falsified log book entries in his role as continuing airworthiness manager. The engineer is awaiting sentence after admitting making bogus records. Mr Banks says he invested £1.5m trying to rescue Tayside Aviation. In 2023, after its collapse, he told us it had cost him £3m. Interpath's latest administrators report lists Mr Banks as a secured creditor owed £110,000. In July, we reported on a civil case ruling made at the Court of Session. It centred around how tuition fees paid in advance by students had been presented in the Tayside Aviation accounts prior to him buying the firm. Lord Braid found Mr Banks had failed to prove four of the warranties had been breached. But a fifth — that accounts prepared in 2020 had not followed the same accounting policy of those prepared in 2017 — had not been 'fairly and accurately disclosed' to the businessman. Lord Braid said the evidence presented by Mr Banks, including a key spreadsheet and expert testimony, was unreliable or inadmissible due to methodological flaws, was missing primary documents and had a lack of clear factual grounding. Last year an employment tribunal ruled Tayside Aviation failed to follow correct redundancy procedures as the company went into administration. James 'Jim' Watt bought Tayside Aviation in 2004, while wife Kathleen was appointed a director in 2015. The school was founded on a strip of grass in 1962. Mr Watt advocated for plans to launch Scotland's first international aviation academy in the empty former water board building next to the airport, unveiled the morning after the UK voted for Brexit. These stalled when Tayside Aviation went bust, despite funding promises in the Tay Cities Deal. Mr Watt is now managing director of Fife Airport, where he and Kathleen run Fife Flight School. After being approached by The Courier to see if he wanted to respond to Mr Banks, Mr Watt sent a copy of an inspection report from Education Scotland for Tayside Aviation, dated June 2021 when he still owned the company. He added: 'Mr Banks is not worthy of any comment.' The CAA said it would not be appropriate to comment on McPherson's conviction until after he is sentenced.
