The Mohit Suri directorial generated significant buzz among fans and the audience leading up to its release, and as per the latest update by Sacnilk, it has now emerged as one of the biggest openers of the year so far, earning close to ₹20 crore. Saiyaara box office collection day 1: The film is directed by Mohit Suri.
Saiyaara box office update
The report states that Saiyaara has collected ₹19.6 crore on its first day of release. This is an astounding figure for a romantic film with newcomers, much more so if we compare the opening day figures of releases this year, which had big stars headlining them. Take examples of Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan, which collected ₹10.7 crore; and Akshay Kumar-starrer Sky Force, which released during a holiday weekend and earned ₹12.25 crore on its first day.
Saiyaara breaks box office record
Saiyaara had an overall 44.33% Hindi Occupancy on Friday. The film has now set the record for the highest opening-day collection by a Hindi film with debutants as leads. The record previously belonged to Dhadak, which marked Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter's debuts in 2018. The film had earned ₹8.76 crore net in India on its release day.
Saiyaara is directed by Mohit Suri and produced by YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani. After its release, the film's songs, especially the title track, became a rage on social media.
The film has also received positive reviews from critics. An excerpt from the Hindustan Times review of the film read, 'Saiyaara may not break new ground in terms of storytelling, but it strikes the right emotional chords. It's a film that understands its audience and delivers with sincerity. It offers just enough to make you feel—and that, sometimes, is more than enough.'

Farah Khan says Salim Khan was sceptical about Salman Khan pursuing acting, much like Saqib Saleem's dad; Huma Qureshi reveals why mom Ameena said no to acting

When two of their four children, and that too in a gap of six months, came up to them and shared their aspirations to pursue film acting, it took restaurateur Saleem and his wife Ameena Qureshi by surprise. Not just that they did not have any prior connection to the film industry, but the Qureshis did not even live in Mumbai, where Bollywood was based. While Saleem belonged to Delhi itself, where the family lived, Ameena hailed from Kashmir. Although shocked and scared at first, they agreed to their children Huma and Saqib's wish, allowing them to move to Mumbai to pursue their cinema dreams. 'Mom was a little scared, particularly since we didn't know anyone in Mumbai,' Huma Qureshi told filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan during a recent appearance on her vlog. 'Both our parents were very scared, wondering how we would survive. I was the first to reveal my acting aspirations, and six months later, Saqib followed suit,' she said. Recalling having a conversation about it with their father, Saqib Saleem said, 'When I told papa that I wished to go to Bombay, he sat down, looked at me and said, 'Tujhe hero banna jana hai (you want to become a hero)?' He put so much doubt in my mind that it took me 10 days to make that decision.' In an act of encouragement, Farah Khan revealed that another father, too, had once expressed doubts regarding his son's potential to become an actor, but the latter eventually proved the old man wrong. 'Salim Khan had the same doubt about Salman Khan and now he's bhai,' she stated, lifting Saqib's spirits considerably. He yelled, 'Fantastic, fantastic!' As the conversation progressed, Farah remarked that Ameena was far more gorgeous than Huma and Saqib, and asked if she had ever aspired to become an actor. Sensing an opportunity, Ameena jokingly asked the filmmaker to launch her and enquired about her next project. Sensing where the conversation was headed, Farah quickly quipped that she had to leave urgently as she was getting a call. Mentioning that YRF's casting director, Shanoo Sharma, called Ameena not once but twice, they shared that she, however, turned down the offer. 'When Shanoo Sharma called, I was happy thinking I finally got a call from YRF. But she had phoned to ask if mom was interested in acting. Though I was heartbroken, I told her I would ask my mom. This was the time when they were making Daawat-e-Ishq (2014), and mom was considered to play Parineeti Chopra's mother. But she didn't want to play another person's mother and hence turned it down,' Huma shared. Saqib, meanwhile, quipped that their mother would only agree to playing Amitabh Bachchan's heroine. When asked if they ever got beatings from their mother, Huma and Saqib said in unison that Ameena hit them quite often while growing up. 'She used to beat us a lot. I just want to tell all those parents who hit their kids, if you think your beating will change your children, it won't. Look at us. They only get worse,' she added.

Starting August 1, the film will stream exclusively on YouTube in India at ₹100, and in 38 international markets, including US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, among others, with pricing localised for each market, according to a press release. "For the past 15 years I have been struggling with the challenge of how to reach audiences who do not have geographical access to theatres, or those who are unable to make it to theatres for various reasons. "Finally the time for the perfect storm has come. With our government bringing in UPI and India becoming no 1 in the world in electronic payments, with internet penetration in India having grown dramatically and growing everyday, and with YouTube being on most devices, we can finally reach vast sections of people in India, and a significant part of the world," Aamir said. "I want people to have the ease of watching cinema when they want, where they want. If this idea works, creative voices can tell different stories breaking geographical and other barriers. "This will also be a great opportunity for younger creative people entering the field of cinema. If this idea works, then I see this as a win-win for all," he added. Billed as a spiritual sequel to the actor's critically acclaimed 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par, Sitaare Zameen Par follows the journey of a basketball coach (Aamir), who mentors ten differently-abled individuals. "YouTube is already a key digital destination for premium content, and we're excited to offer filmmakers and content owners not only our unparalleled digital reach but also the control and flexibility to meet their audiences where they are. Today's launch is far more than a release - YouTube is laying out the red carpet for Indian cinema to stride onto the global stage," she added. Aamir is currently producing Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, and Ek Din, featuring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, both under his banner Aamir Khan Productions. He will next be seen in Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film is set to hit the screens on August 14, 2025.
