Emmerdale scraps early ITVX episode - here's why fans can't stream early on Wednesday
Emmerdale has scrapped the early ITVX release for Wednesday's (28 May) episode, with fans excited for the developments.
The next instalment of the ITV soap will see Aaron Dingle and John Sugden tie the knot after weeks of anticipation, though one can expect it won't go completely swimmingly given the nature of soap storytelling.
In a scheduling shake-up, the broadcaster confirmed via their social media channels that the instalment won't be uploaded to streaming service ITVX at 7am like most episodes, with viewers instead having to wait until the episode airs at 7.30pm on ITV1.
"FYI: Emmerdale will not be available to stream tomorrow (Wed 28th) at 7am on ITVX," read the caption on the Instagram post. "So we'll see you all at 7.30pm on ITV1 instead, yeah? You bring the biscuits and we'll make the brews (we'll try to not spill any tea 👀)🫖"
The post, which included a photo of Aaron and John in their wedding attire, received a comment from Danny Miller, with the actor - who debuted as Aaron in 2008 - jokingly writing: "What?!!!!!!!!!!"
Related:
"@danny_b_miller so annoying x" wrote one fan in response, with another adding: "@danny_b_miller that's my reaction like what the heck?????😂" Several other fans also joked with the actor, calling him a "tease".
"It must be exciting if we have to wait," remarked one fan on the post, with another commenting: "Ooh exciting tea 🫖 incoming."
"Run for your life Aaron! (literally lol)" quipped one fan as they referenced John's murky character, while another said they were "excited" for the episode.

While fans will have to wait a few hours longer for the instalment, we can be sure that it will be a dramatic 30 minutes, with John - whose secrets have gradually been unveiled over the past few weeks - having to put on a strong façade under increasing pressure.
While specific details of the episode remain under wraps, Miller did tease aspects of the instalment during an appearance on Loose Women, sharing: "What I will say is there are some surprises… You'll just have to wait and see."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.

In an interview for The Billboard Book of Number One Albums, Fogerty spoke about the decades-long battle to retain the rights to the CCR catalog. 'It did a lot of damage to my psyche and personality as far as confidence,' he said. 'There were times in those years when I was scared to go in and buy a pair of socks in a department store.'Although the album isn't out until Aug. 22, Fogerty is previewing the 20-song set for fans by releasing newly recorded versions of the CCR classics 'Up Around the Bend,' 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain' and 'Porterville' to all streaming services on May 29. The album is also being released as a two-record set on black and colored vinyl. 'For most of my life I did not own the songs I had written,' Fogerty said in a statement. 'Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my way of celebrating that—of playing these songs on my terms, with the people I love.' 'I knew first hand how much it meant for John to get his publishing back. It has been so joyful and beautiful since this happened for him. This is a celebration of his life's work. It is the biggest party for the good guy/artist winning,' Julie Fogerty added in a statement. Here's the full tracklist for Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival:1. Up Around the Bend2. Coronation Street star signs new ITV contract ahead of Emmerdale crossover
A Coronation Street star has reportedly signed a new contract ahead of a planned crossover event. Claire Sweeney, known for her roles as Cassie Plummer on the ITV soap, has secured her future on the Cobbles. Sweeney has been part of the Coronation Street cast since 2023. It is rumoured she is looking to be part of the planned ITV soap crossover between Corrie and Emmerdale next year. A source told The Sun: 'Claire loves being on Corrie - it's a dream job, so she was delighted to sign a new deal. 'With the big Emmerdale crossover coming in 2026, there's also a hope that she'll be in that too. 'It's a great opportunity to be part of soap history, so who wouldn't want to be involved?' In her time on the show so far, Claire's villainous character has poisoned Ken Barlow (William Roache) and slept with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson). Emmerdale and Coronation Street revealed the hour-long crossover episode earlier this month. The special episode will see characters from the Yorkshire town and Weatherfield come together for the first time ever. Discussing the Emmerdale and Coronation Street episode, ITV said: "The distinctive worlds of Emmerdale and Coronation Street will merge for one night only in a 'mash-up' of our two favourite communities. "The producers, scriptwriters and production teams have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, but with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire. "The episode will be self-contained, but the consequences of the high-stakes drama will have repercussions for both communities and see them linked forever as familiar faces depart and exciting new characters arrive into both soaps." Former EastEnders star Joe Absolom joins Emmerdale cast
Former EastEnders actor Joe Absolom is to join the cast of Emmerdale. The 46-year-old will play Ray, an old contact of Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), in the ITV soap, having previously played Matthew Rose in BBC soap EastEnders from 1997 to 2000. ITV says Ray will arrive at the farm claiming to be selling farm machinery, but it is not long before his true drug-dealing ways become clear. Absolom said of his new role: 'Well, what an honour to join such a talented team at Emmerdale. It's an iconic show and I'm grateful to be part of it. I can't wait to see what's in stock for Ray.' ITV says Absolom's character will have a 'calm and collected exterior' with a hidden 'menacing streak'. Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: 'We are thrilled to welcome Joe Absolom to the cast. It's fantastic to have such a high-calibre and immensely talented actor join our wonderful team to play the role of Ray. 'Charming, charismatic and effortlessly likeable, Ray is an extremely complex character who very quickly shows his dark and villainous side to some of our most loved villagers, leaving them in no doubt as to what he's capable of.' The actor also appeared as Al Large in the ITV comedy drama Doc Martin between 2004 and 2022, and most recently played the role of Braden Moore in Code of Silence. It comes after ITV announced it was to air its first ever crossover between Coronation Street and Emmerdale, with fans able to vote for the characters they would like to see meet and interact. The hour-long crossover episode will air in January 2026 as ITV and STV announce a new hour of soap schedule, which will see half hour Emmerdale episodes air at 8pm, followed by 30-minute episodes of Coronation Street at 8.30pm. Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV1 and STV, or from 7am on ITVX and STV Player.
