Honda Rebel 500: Engine and performance
Honda is using a 471 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine that is rated for 45 bhp of max power at 8,500 rpm and a peak torque output of 43.3 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The power is transferred to the rear wheel using a 6-speed gearbox that uses a chain drive. The configuration emphasises low- and mid-range torque, making the bike particularly suitable for urban commuting and effortless highway cruising.
The powertrain features an 8-valve DOHC setup, designed to provide a smooth and linear power delivery across the entire rev range. Additionally, the bike is fitted with a short, low-mounted exhaust that contributes to its overall compact design.
