French Open women's semifinal: Live updates, highlights as Coco Gauff dominates, joining Aryna Sabalenka in final

It may not have been the French Open final, but Coco Gauff played like a champion during her semifinals match vs. Lois Boisson on Thursday. Gauff turned in a dominant performance in the win, beating Boisson (6-1, 6-2) in straight sets. It was an excellent performance from Gauff, who seemed completely locked in against Boisson. Seemingly every shot hit by Gauff landed where ever she desired. Boisson did her best to keep up with Gauff's relentless attack, but could not match the American's excellence in the win. Advertisement The victory pushes Gauff into the French Open final for the second time in her career. Gauff also made it to the final in 2022, where she lost to Iga Swiatek. There will be no rematch in 2025. Swiatek lost her semifinals match to women's No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka on Thursday. Sabalenka and Gauff will square off in the final Saturday. Aryna Sabalenka advances past Iga Swiatek at French Open The 2025 French Open semifinals match between Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek was as good as advertised. After a back-and-forth match, Sabalenka came out on top in three sets (7-6, 4-6, 6-0), advancing to the final. Advertisement It was a tremendous match all the way through. Despite some early mistakes by Swiatek, she was able to rally in the first set and eventually force a tiebreak. But with the first set on the line, Sabalenka rose to the occasion, using her devastating serve to take the win. Swiatek answered back in the second set, taking an early 3-1 lead. While Sabalenka fought her back, Swiatek came out ahead this time around, winning the second set 6-4 to set up a decisive third set. It was the first time in the entire tournament that Sabalenka dropped a set. There was a lot riding on the final set for Swiatek, who has won the French Open the past three years. She came into the match riding a 26-match win streak, the second best figure in the history of the. French Open. Advertisement Things didn't start out well for Swiatek, as Sabalenka jumped up to an early 3-0 lead in the final set. She carried that momentum all the way through the set, winning 6-0 and advancing to her first French Open final. Fatigue may have been the biggest factor in Sabalenka's victory. Despite a lengthy match, Sabalenka's serves remained dominant even in the final set. Swiatek, who was able to turn in some strong returns in the first two sets, couldn't seem to keep up with Sabalenka's late serves, which were still coming in at incredible speeds. With the win, Sabalenka will face Gauff in the final. It should be a tight match. The two have squared off 10 times over their careers, with both players earning five wins in those matches. Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE Raw superstar Seth Rollins has pushed back against the perception that he is a heel. Instead, he insists in a recent interview with Kay Adams that he remains a good guy, aka a babyface. He has also said that the recent controversial alliances are simply a case of others recognizing the fact that he is right. This comes as Rollins spearheads a new dominant faction on Monday Night Raw alongside Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. When asked about his current on-screen persona, Rollins stated, "I'm not [a heel], I'm a good guy. I haven't changed a bit." He explained, "It just so happens that people have come to me. People have flocked to me." "I've been right all along!" Seth Rollins has something to say to every WWE fan calling him a villain. 👀 @heykayadams | @WWERollins — Up & Adams (@UpAndAdamsShow) June 5, 2025 Rollins pointed to his claimed WrestleMania 41 success as validation: "Now look, I saw you before WrestleMania. I told you before WrestleMania exactly what was going to happen. I was going to put it to Roman Reigns. I was going to put it to CM Punk. I was going to win the main event of WrestleMania. I did all that. Absolutely nothing changed." Seth Rollins gestures to the crowd during WWE Monday Night RAW at Toyota Center on March 11, 2024 in Houston, Texas. Regarding his new stablemates, Rollins commented, "Then you see, Bron Breakker, he wants to learn from me. Bronson Reed, we had a little thing last year, but now there's a lot of respect between the two of us, and we're off to the races." When Kay Adams directly asked if he considered himself a heel, Rollins responded, "No, absolutely not. No, not." He then delivered a message to WWE fans who view him as such: "I've been right all along. I know you, you're new to WWE, but for all the WWE fans out there that are watching, I have been right every step of the way, and I have pulled you guys kicking and screaming through the mud." Rollins proclaimed, "...and now we are in the greatest version of WWE of all time, and so I will continue to be that person that leads us into the future, whether you think that I am right or not." Dominik Mysterio Continues To Bury CM Punk In Hilarious Fashion

Dominik Mysterio really doesn't like CM Punk and isn't afraid to let the world know why he feels that way. WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio was a recent guest on Casual Conversations with The Classic. When asked about how he feels about CM Punk nowadays, Mysterio didn't hold back on burying Punk in hilarious fashion. Advertisement 'I think we just both mutually hate each other equally,' Dominik Mysterio began. 'I f*cking hate CM Punk, I don't know what it is about that guy, I don't know if it's because he looks like Eddie Munster and I want to kick him in the f*cking face. Or the fact that everyone is like, 'He finally did it, he finally got his WrestleMania main event.' Good for you, old man. 60 years old, it took you what, 45 years to accomplish your one goal? It's about time. 'It's what they say about babies. When they have tantrums, you give them what they want so they shut the f*ck up. I'm pretty sure that's what happened. That's why he needed a favor from Paul Heyman. There is a reason he was never in the main event. You call yourself the Best in the World. I don't need to go around calling myself the Best in the World. People know I'm better than the best. 'I don't need to call myself Best in the World at 70 years old. People do it for me. You have [John] Cena talking about me, JBL, AJ Styles, legends talking about me. I don't need to do it for myself or say these things about me because people say it for me. My work speaks for itself. Here you go with CM Punk. I could go on this rant forever, but I need to stop myself.'
