A Reddit user who recently called his older sibling a 'loser' is rethinking the way he handled trying to motivate him
He had told his brother 'that he has nothing going for him'
'Shame is a terrible motivator,' a fellow Reddit user repliedAn older sibling is driving his younger brother up the wall.
The 19-year-old boy explained on Reddit's 'Am I the A------' forum that he recently called his 21-year-old brother a 'loser' to his face — but now the younger sibling is questioning if he was 'too harsh' with his critique.
'He doesn't work out, barely studies, doesn't seem to have goals, and spends most of his day sitting in the same spot playing a football video game while watching YouTube,' he wrote of his older brother.
'He doesn't drive well. We're both taking driving lessons, and he still struggles with basic turns after a week, and doesn't seem interested in changing anything,' he added, before detailing the tipping point.
After a ' frustrating driving session,' the teenager called his brother a 'loser.'
'I told him that he has nothing going for him. I said it bluntly, hoping it would be a wake-up call and motivate him to at least work on something — anything,' he recalled. 'Instead, he got really angry and went straight to our mom and started ranting.'
The mom then 'yelled' at the teen. 'She told me I was being incredibly mean and unhelpful,' he said. 'I honestly thought a dose of reality might help him snap out of it, but maybe it was the wrong approach.'
Rethinking the way he handled trying to motivate his brother, the younger sibling asked the Reddit forum for their outside opinions.

'You said that out of frustration and anger, not to help him in anyway,' one person replied. 'Stop lying to yourself and trying to justify your actions.'
Another reader simply asserted, 'Shame is a terrible motivator.'
A third Reddit user suggested a solution, writing 'Help needs to come from a place of compassion. You need to apologize and make it clear you are worried about him, and break down why his present course worries you.'

Lily Collins says Charlie McDowell 'was born to be a dad'

Lily Collins thinks Charlie McDowell was "born to be a dad". The 36-year-old actress took to social media on Father's Day (15.06.25) to heap praise on her husband, thanking Charlie for "taking the best care" of their daughter Tove. The brunette beauty - who announced in January that they'd welcomed a baby girl via surrogacy - wrote on Instagram: "Happy first Father's Day @charliemcdowell. Tove is the luckiest little girl in the world to be yours. Seeing you with her is the most beautiful thing. You certainly were born to be a dad and you continue to amaze me every single day with the countless ways you protect and nurture her, make her laugh, and shower her with adoration. Thank you for taking the best care of our little T and of course big brother @redforddog. What would we do without you? We love you so so SO much… (sic)" Lily recently revealed that she "couldn't be more grateful" to be a mother. The actress took to Instagram in May to celebrate her first Mother's Day. Alongside a photo of Lily cradling her baby girl, the Emily in Paris star wrote: "My first Mother's Day. No words can describe this new journey, this new life. I love you with all of my heart Tove, with all of the parts of it that have grown deeper since the day you were born and all of those I never even knew existed. You have expanded my world, broadened my horizons, and widened my smile more than I knew was possible. And to think, it's only the beginning. I couldn't be more grateful or honored to be your mum… (sic)" Lily - who is the daughter of music star Phil Collins - announced the arrival of her baby girl via an Instagram post earlier this year. The Hollywood star - who has been married to Charlie since 2021 - wrote at the time: "Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell. Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again… (sic)"

The 31-year-old also shared moody black-and-white bathroom selfies. The singer's emotional posts, which followed previous cryptic messages about people telling him there's 'more work to do,' have prompted fans to question what's wrong with Justin Bieber. So, here's why fans are worried about Bieber's latest social media posts and how they are reacting to the same. Concerned netizens are asking on social media, 'What's wrong with Justin Bieber?.' The discussion among fans emerged as the Grammy-winning pop singer went on an Instagram spree. In one cryptic post, Bieber stated he is tired of 'transactional relationships.' The 'Yummy' crooner wrote, 'If I have to do something to be loved, that's not love.' While the singer didn't go into specifics, fans speculate if the post hinted at his marriage with Hailey Bieber, with whom he shares a nine-month-old son, Jack. Furthermore, the 'Love Me' hitmaker went on a rant on his Instagram stories on Saturday, June 7. Alongside, Bieber noted, 'This is how I feel after people keep telling me there's more work to do after I've given everything I have to give.' (via People) Bieber added, 'I don't think any of us can handle hearing, 'You just gotta try a little harder and you will be like me.' It's not true.' Moreover, he shared a moment of epiphany with followers. The 'Peaches' crooner stated, 'I listened to those fools who told me to work harder. And there's no end to trying to earn ur spot in this life because I tried. U have everything u need right now.' Previously, Justin Bieber's recent actions, including posting pictures of his bong and appearing inebriated, prompted worry among his fans. A user posted on X (formerly Twitter), 'What's wrong with you Justin Bieber ffs..' Another fan opined on Reddit, 'He's probably fine. I think he just has a very different life from the rest of us.' Another fan speculated whether Hailey Bieber's recent monetary deal with Elf is the reason behind her husband's 'transactional relationships' post. The fan wrote, 'Hailey just scored a massive transaction to the tune of 600M in cash, 200M in stock, and 200M more in future earnings… Wonder if ANY OF THAT factored into his cryptic post.' Meanwhile, Justin Bieber has yet to comment on the exact reason behind his recent social media posts or fans' concerns. The post 'What's Wrong With Justin Bieber?' Jennifer Garner honors ex-husband Ben Affleck with never-before-seen photo on Father's Day 2025

Jennifer Garner is pulling back the curtain on Ben Affleck as a dad. The '13 Going on 30' star shared an intimate — and very rare — home photo of the Oscar winner via her Instagram Story while honoring him on Father's Day 2025. In the candid, never-before-seen snapshot, Affleck was seen laying on a couch with one of their three children sleeping comfortably on his chest. 'Happy Father's Day to 3 people's favorite landing spot,' Garner wrote along with her heartwarming shoutout Sunday. Garner and Affleck share kids Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13. The exes have maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship since announcing their separation in 2015 following 10 years of marriage. They ultimately finalized their divorce in 2018 after the 'Gone Girl' actor checked into rehab. Affleck, 52, recently praised the 'Alias' alum, 53, in his cover story for GQ's April 2025 issue. 'I'm really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids' mom, who's wonderful and great,' the 'Air' star said. 'We work together well,' he added. A source previously told Page Six in March that Affleck would 'would love another chance' with Garner after settling his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. The insider told us that the actor 'would definitely be open to giving things another shot with Jen if the timing is ever right.' Though, the source added, 'Ben knows it's just not realistic at this time in their lives.' However, we were told the 'feeling is not mutual' on Garner's part. A separate insider insisted the 'Deadpool & Wolverine' actress is 'happy' with her boyfriend, John Miller, who she's been dating since 2018. In fact, Garner and Miller were seen sharing a passionate kiss in a rare PDA moment in Los Angeles earlier this month.
