Natasha Richardson's Death Explained Amid Liam Neeson And Pamela Anderson Dating

Buzz Feed5 days ago
If the reports are to be believed, Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are dating!
Yesterday, People published a story claiming that Pamela, 58, and Liam, 73, are enjoying a 'budding romance in the early stages.' 'It's sincere, and it's clear they're smitten with each other,' an inside source said, adding that they're loving each other's company.
The news comes after tons of speculation about Pamela and Liam's off-screen chemistry on their global promo tour for The Naked Gun, which hits theaters on Aug. 1. Neither of them has explicitly confirmed the romance; however, they've certainly made no secret of their affection for one another during interviews and on red carpets.
Notably, at the New York premiere for The Naked Gun on Monday, Pamela and Liam were joined by their respective sons, who are all aged between 27 and 30. The six of them posed for pictures like one big happy family, fueling a lot of interest in the potential romance.
It's certainly safe to say that the majority of fans are very happy about this possible Hollywood union — not only because they make an adorable pair, but because both Pamela and Liam have endured a lot in the public eye.
As you'll probably know, Pamela has experienced sexual abuse, exploitation, and harassment, both as a child and in adulthood. Most famously, she was violated on a global scale after the non-consensual distribution of her stolen sex tape in the 1990s.
The ordeal tarnished her career for much of the 2000s and left her deeply traumatized, while her ex-husband, Tommy Lee, who also appeared in the stolen footage, was lauded as a sex symbol. 'You can't put a monetary number on the amount of pain and suffering it caused,' she said in her 2023 documentary. You can read more about Pamela's journey here.
Meanwhile, Liam experienced deep trauma in a different way following the death of his wife of 14 years, Natasha Richardson, in 2009.
With all this in mind, Pamela and Liam's respective histories have been a major talking point among fans amid the news of their reported romance.
On X, one post with over 37,000 likes read: 'Liam Neeson dating again after Natasha's death in 2009? He's finally moving forward and finding that happiness in life and I love that for him. And Pamela being through as much as she has? Shoot, they found each other. Glad they're happy.'Another popular post said: 'Liam Neeson finding happiness with Pamela after how painful losing Natasha Richardson was and how long he went saying he couldn't see himself in a relationship again is so beautiful.'
While Pamela's past romantic relationships have played out quite publicly, Liam has maintained a lot of privacy surrounding his personal life. So, for those who may need it, here's a bit of context on his marriage to Natasha, and what he's said about life and relationships since her death.
Liam and Natasha — the Tony-award winning actor you'll probably know best from movies like The Parent Trap, Maid in Manhattan, and Wild Child — met in 1993 while starring opposite one another on Broadway. The pair married the following year and went on to welcome two sons, Micheál and Daniel, in 1995 and 1996.
Liam and Natasha were happily married throughout the 2000s, until tragedy struck in March 2009. While skiing on a beginner's slope with an instructor in Quebec, Natasha slipped and fell. At first, the injury seemed minor, and she reportedly brushed off the idea of being taken to the hospital. However, it soon became clear that she was very unwell, and she was evacuated to a hospital in Montreal, where her husband flew in from a movie set in Toronto to be by her side.
Speaking to Anderson Cooper in 2014, Liam recalled his final phone call with his wife before she was taken to the hospital: 'She said, 'Oh darling. I've taken a tumble in the snow.' That's how she described it.' When he arrived at the hospital, Liam was shown an X-ray of the injury and informed that Natasha was 'brain dead.' 'And you didn't need to be a rocket scientist to see what was happening,' he recalled.
According to the Taken star, he and Natasha 'made a pact' that if either of them ever 'got into a vegetative state that [they'd] pull the plug.' In that same interview, Liam remembered being with her in the hospital: 'She was on life support… and [I] told her I loved her. Said, 'Sweetie, you're not coming back from this. You've banged your head. ... And we're bringing you back to New York. All your family and friends will come.''
At this point in the timeline, Natasha was reportedly transported back to New York, where she died surrounded by Liam and their family.
Liam suddenly became a single parent to two sons and threw himself into work to help with the grief, making 20 movies in the five years after Natasha died. 'I'm not good without work. I just don't— I wallow too much. You know? And I just didn't want to— especially for my boys, to be— seem to be wallowing in sadness or depression,' he said in that same 2014 interview, adding that having a schedule helps 'a great deal.'
'Grief's like— it hits you. It's like a wave,' he added, admitting that Natasha's death sometimes doesn't feel real. 'You just get this profound feeling of instability. You feel like a three-legged table. Just suddenly you just— the Earth isn't stable anymore. And then it passes and becomes more infrequent, but I still get it sometimes.'
When asked about single-parenthood, Liam detailed a pivotal moment between Bono and his older son, Micheál, when the U2 frontman was visiting their home after Natasha's death. 'I remember he was sitting beside Micheál and, just out of the blue, he said, 'What age are you, Micheál?' Micheál said, '13.' And he said, 'Yeah, that's the age I was when I lost my mum,'' he remembered. 'That was it. And I could've kissed him for it. He was, like, saying, 'You know, I lost my mom at this age and I'm doing OK. And you will do OK too.''
Since then, Liam has only spoken about Natasha's death on a few occasions. In 2020, he said he still speaks to his wife every day while visiting her grave near their home. 'I go down there quite often,' he told Inquirer.net. 'So I do speak to her as if she's here. Not that she answers me.'
In terms of dating, Liam has only been in one public relationship since Natasha died. He dated a UK-based public relations executive called Freya St. Johnston for two years before they split in 2012. Notably, in 2024, Liam said he was done with dating, telling People: 'I'm past all that.'
And here we are. I don't know about you, but — if the dating reports are true — I'm so pleased for Liam and Pamela. They've both been through so much and deserve all the happiness!

Not Throwing Away Our Shot in New York City

When Carmen's new role called for a trip to New York City to lead a customer training session, it opened the door for a travel experience we hadn't shared in years. We seized the opportunity—professionally and personally—and made the most of every minute. We arrived at JFK International Airport early in the week, and as tradition dictates, Tony cued up 'Empire State of Mind' on his headphones during descent. The lyric 'Concrete jungle where dreams are made of ...' always stirs something in him. And this time, New York delivered.

Joely Richardson, sister of Natasha Richardson, gushes over Pamela Anderson, Liam Neeson

While Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are staying mum on their alleged romance, the rumored couple seems to have gotten a stamp of approval from the family of Neeson's late wife. Joely Richardson, the sister of Natasha Richardson, who died in 2009, commented on Instagram photos that Anderson shared of herself and Neeson in celebration of the actors' new movie "The Naked Gun." Several of the playful black-and-white photos show Anderson, 58, and Neeson, 73, goofing around with a popcorn bucket, while the Aug. 1 post's final two images see the costars engage in an impromptu photoshoot with a camera. Much of the comments section was filled with congratulatory messages complimenting Anderson and Neeson's joint project, as well as their purported new couple status. "I did not have Pam and Liam on my 2025 Bingo card … and I can't even describe the happiness I feel for them ❤️👏💕," @taraphotog wrote. Richardson joined in on the warm sentiment, commenting with string of red heart emojis: "❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️." Neeson was married for 15 years to British actress Natasha Richardson, from 1994 until her death at age 45. Natasha, best known for her roles in "The Handmaid's Tale" movie, "The Parent Trap" and "Maid in Manhattan," died after a seemingly minor fall while skiing at Quebec's Mont Tremblant. The actress initially waved off medical care, but her head injury turned out to be fatal. She and Neeson shared sons Micheál and Daniel. Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson: Actors spark romance rumors with affectionate red-carpet moment Pamela Anderson, Liam Neeson spark romance rumors on 'Naked Gun' promotional tour Anderson and Neeson have been at the center of dating speculation as they promote "The Naked Gun," a slapstick detective comedy starring Neeson as LA cop Frank Drebin Jr. and Anderson as his unexpected partner in crime, the femme fatale Beth. The actors sparked romance rumors at the film's London premiere on July 22. As they posed at the red carpet's step-and-repeat, Anderson leaned up and gave Neeson a smooch on the side of his face. While taking photos with one of the film's producers, Anderson was also seen clasping Neeson's hand around her left hip. Days later, Anderson and Neeson poked fun at their flirty chemistry in a July 28 interview with "Entertainment Tonight." As Anderson leaned in for a near-kiss from Neeson, an "ET" red-carpet reporter said they were "so close," before Anderson said, "Yeah, so close." Neeson chimed in, "We're pros." 'Are you two an item?': Pamela Anderson, Liam Neeson dodge dating rumors on 'Today' show The following day, Anderson and Neeson were confronted about their affectionate dynamic during a July 29 interview on the "Today" show. Coanchor Craig Melvin bluntly asked the duo if they were dating: "You're both single right now. There's clearly chemistry on display throughout this film. Are you two an item?" While the pair balked at the question, Neeson conceded that he and Anderson "discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry as two actors" during production on "The Naked Gun." In an Instagram post recapping the film's New York premiere July 29, Anderson's caption included a not-so-cryptic message of her own: "Love is in the air." "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" holds its lead atop the box office

LOS ANGELES -- LOS ANGELES (AP) — Marvel's first family stumbled in theaters in its second weekend, but still held on to the top spot at the box office. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' earned $40 million from 4,125 North American theaters, a 66% drop from a healthy $117.6 million debut. The film was accompanied by comedies 'The Bad Guys 2' and 'The Naked Gun" in the top three box office rankings. The superhero movie dipped significantly more than Marvel's previous film, 'Thunderbolts,' which took a 55% dive in its second weekend. 'First Steps' is the last major blockbuster of the summer. It added nearly $40 million internationally in its second weekend, bringing thefilm's global total to $369 million. The movie's box office drop off was surprising given its strong reviews, said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for the data firm Comscore. Though the movie's debut weekend may have given box office results a strong push toward the $4 billion summer benchmark, August is off to a slow start, he said. 'It's a tough lift, but we might be able to get there. It really means that all the films are gonna have to stand on their own,' Dergarabedian said. 'It's gonna be about getting great reviews, having that staying power, that longevity in the marketplace.' Newcomer comedy 'The Bad Guys 2' earned second place at the box office this weekend, with $22 million from 3,852 North American theaters. That was on par with projections and also in line with the first movie in the series, which brought in $23 million in 2022. Paramount's slapstick comedy, 'The Naked Gun,' also in its debut weekend, snagged the third box office spot, earning $17 million from 3,344 locations. Jim Orr, president of domestic distribution for Universal Pictures, said the solid debut for 'The Bad Guys 2,' coupled with strong audience reaction scores, 'should point to a very long, very successful run through not only the rest of the summer, but really, I think into the fall." James Gunn's 'Superman,' which opened four weekends ago and already crossed $550 million globally, earned $13.8 million domestically this weekend, taking the fourth spot. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' followed with $8.7 million. The horror movie 'Together' had a strong debut weekend, coming in at sixth place and earning $6.8 million domestically, proof that August is a month for edgier and off-beat films, Dergarabedian said. 'That's what this month is about. It's not just about box office," Dergarabedian said. "It's also about providing really interesting, rewarding movie-going experiences for audiences.' Dergarabedian said he expects highly-anticipated movies hitting theaters in the next few weeks — including 'Freakier Friday,' and Zach Cregger's horror movie 'Weapons' — to give August a needed boost. The box office is currently up 9.5% from last year. With final domestic figures being released Monday, this list factors in the estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore: 1. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps," $40 million. 2. 'The Bad Guys 2,' $22.2 million. 3. 'The Naked Gun,' $17 million. 4. 'Superman,' $13.8 million. 5. 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' $8.7 million. 6. 'Together,' $6.8 million. 7. 'F1: The Movie,' $4.1 million. 8. 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' $2.7 million. 9. 'Smurfs,' $1.8 million. 10. 'How to Train Your Dragon,' $1.4 million.
