Angel Strawbridge, famed for the Channel 4 show Escape to the Chateau with her husband Dick Strawbridge, previously opened up about experiencing isolation after the birth of her first child.
In a frank discussion, Angel also revealed her initial discomfort with her French neighbours following their move abroad. The couple caught the public's attention through their adventures refurbishing the Chateau de La Motte Husson in France.
Dick, who had two grown-up children prior to his marriage to Angel in 2015, extended his family with the birth of their two children, Arthur, aged 12, and Dorothy, now 11.
On the Sweat, Snot and Tears parenting podcast, Angel got personal about the solitude she felt becoming a mother to her son Arthur. Chatting with hosts Annie and Wendy, she reflected on life's upheavals, particularly those that occur when starting a family.
Upon being probed about significant shifts in her life, Angel addressed the emotions she grappled with during her initial foray into motherhood.

She confessed: "The biggest change when I did feel a little bit isolated was when I had my first child. Because then I just was like: right, your whole life changes completely."
Angel further articulated how bearing a child had altered her outlook, fundamentally shifting her mindset by the time they took the monumental step of relocating to France.
"By the time I moved to France I was in a different mental state from before I had children," she divulged.
"I was ready. And I think that's the big thing. I think if you're gonna do a move to somewhere like this, you really have to be ready for it."
The celebrity also mentioned how relocating had impacted her social life, though she acknowledged some of this was due to the Coronavirus pandemic, reports Devon Live.

Identifying herself as a "social butterfly", she admitted that while her children had adapted well to the French school system, she felt out of place among the upscale group of neighbours she privately dubbed the "Chateau Set".
"I felt really uncomfortable, it was weird," she mused.
Angel concluded by saying that she and Dick were in agreement that attending the extravagant dinner parties hosted by their affluent neighbours just wasn't for them.
Angel and Dick's paths crossed later in life when they met through a shared television agent in 2010, leading to their marriage in November 2015.
Escape to the Chateau was a huge hit for Channel 4

Since tying the knot, they've gained international acclaim for their restoration escapades, with Escape to the Chateau and its spin-offs becoming huge hits for Channel 4.
Nevertheless, the show was cancelled two years ago amid reports of a falling-out between the couple and Channel 4 producers.
In the meantime, the duo has been keeping their followers informed about their ongoing ventures and travels via social media.

‘Millionaire Castaway' David Glasheen dead at 81 after starring in Channel 5 island doc with Ben Fogle
'NATIONAL TREASURE' 'Millionaire Castaway' David Glasheen dead at 81 after starring in Channel 5 island doc with Ben Fogle Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Former millionaire David Glasheen, who moved to a desert island after losing his fortune, has died aged 81. The ex-stockbroker had been living alone on the idyllic Restoration Island, located off North East Australia, since 1997 after losing his fortune in the stock exchange crash 10 years prior. The ex-gold mining tycoon and property magnate, who at his most successful was worth an estimated £22million, lived in a wooden beach shack with only his loyal dog Polly for company. But despite having limited electricity, fresh water and facing regular battles against deadly wildlife, the bearded exile insisted he felt safe on the island in an interview a few years ago. He said: "Here there are snakes, spiders and crocodiles but it is safer here than lots of other parts of the world when you hear about terrorist attacks. "I love it here because I have my safety, no matter how old and how tough you are you still want to go to bed knowing you are not going to be attacked.' Self-sufficient David, who was born in Sydney's Northern Beaches to an Irish family, added at the time that there was nowhere he'd rather be than on his "heaven on earth" natural paradise. He said: "I want to die here – where else would I? This is my heaven on earth. "When I came here I was sick of money – money is what makes people sick – and my marriage had broken apart. "But being on your own you do miss intelligent conversation and the physical contact of other people. "I would love to find a partner who wants to live with me here, or a couple of ladies who want to come and visit a couple of times a year. "The elements and wildlife are dangerous – if you do get into trouble here, you are pretty much dead. The saltwater crocodiles are beautiful animals – they are dangerous but I love them.' Broadcaster Ben shared the tragic news on social media. The tribute read: "So sad to hear that Dave Glasheen has passed away. "He was one of the first Wildmen I visited for New Lives in the Wild. "He really was one of a kind and I feel so fortunate to have met him a few times and spent time with him on his little Australian paradise. "Dave was 81 and lived the richest life I know. "Dave found true happiness when he lost his millions and reconnected with nature. "Rest in Peace Dave." Born to a wealthy family originally from County Cork, Ireland, David was educated at a private boarding school and began a career as a businessman after university. He developed a gold mining company in Papua New Guinea but lost an estimated £5.5 million in the 12 months after the October 1987 global financial crash. Soon after David's wife left him and when he met a new girlfriend who told him she wanted to run away to a desert island he began searching for such a place. He first visited the 100-acre Restoration Island – located almost 621 miles from Cairns, the nearest city, in 1993 before moving for good when he secured a 50-year lease from the state of Queensland in May 1997. And though his then-partner decided life as a hunter gatherer was not for her, David made the exiled existence his own despite legal wrangles over the years. The bearded castaway entertained backpackers, tourists and even Russell Crowe to his isolated oasis. An internet connection allowed David to follow the news, keep in touch with the outside world via social media and watch Britain's Got Talent videos on YouTube - once a guilty pleasure of his. But he has no direct electricity – relying on solar panels and a backup generator – and limited running water was only installed a few years ago.

Celebrity contestant on The Chase says there was one thing he really wasn't expecting
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Judge Jules revealed that his experience on The Chase Celebrity special was slightly less daunting due to his familiarisation with the Elstree Studios. The renowned DJ appeared alongside other notable personalities, including Lesley Joseph, Jenni Falconer, and Patrick Kielty, on the ITV special. The team faced off against Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace in intense rounds, ultimately leading to all four celebrities participating in the final chase. During this round, they successfully outsmarted Wallace, securing a total of £200,000 to be divided among their chosen charities. However, while some might crack under the pressure of the ITV quiz show, 58 year old lawyer and DJ Judge Jules confessed he didn't feel overly anxious. "I'm not nervous in my normal activities, before I go on the decks or anything else related to the music business," he told the Mirror. READ MORE - The 'rejected' Channel 4 Grand Designs home as producers warn 'we need more drama' READ MORE - Kate 'fulfilled long held promise' to Princess Charlotte with sweet move The London-born star continued: "It was a little bit nervy because it's such an unfamiliar environment. The strange thing was, it's filmed in Elstree Studios where EastEnders is filmed, or it was when I did it anyway. My dad (Shaun O'Riordan) worked there his entire working life, so I'd been to those studios multiple times - my dad was a TV director so I think maybe that eased off the pressure a little bit." (Image: ITV) (Image: ITV) (Image: Supplied) Judge Jules' prior visits to the studios, where his father worked as a TV director, may have contributed to his relatively calm demeanour during the show. Jules, all set to command the decks across the UK and Balearics this summer, divulged: "It's fast moving, you meet three others who you've never met before, all of you are there for a common purpose, it's quite comedial backstage but at the same time, it's more the alien environment", reports the Express. He recounted how he adjusted to unfamiliar territory: "When you're experienced in one area and suddenly you're thrust into this alien environment, it makes it more nervous. We earned a chunk of money for charity, which was great. It was £200,00, so it was quite a lot." Catch The Chase every weekday on ITV, kicking off at 5pm.

Cheryl's huge TV comeback will be 'bittersweet' after ex Liam Payne's death
A source says the new role will be 'bittersweet' for Cheryl after the death of her ex, Liam Payne. Cheryl Tweedy has been off the television scene for over half a decade, but her anticipated return to TV is tinged with sadness following the passing of her former partner, Liam Payne. The Newcastle-born songstress, who last graced our screens in a major TV role in 2019, is rumoured to be joining her old friend as a mentor on the upcoming series of The Voice UK. A source speaking exclusively to OK! magazine revealed that despite her illustrious career, this opportunity on the ITV programme could be "the biggest role of her life". "This is really important for Cheryl," the insider divulged. "She realised after Liam's death that you just don't know what's around the corner – life isn't a dress rehearsal. A comeback on a TV show like The Voice has always been at the back of her mind, has always wanted her back and Liam's passing sort of made the decision for her. "She wants Bear to see that she's a strong, successful woman, and to see that life can go on and even be good." Recent reports suggest that the former Girls Aloud member, aged 42 and mother to eight year old Bear, is in discussions to join the next instalment of The Voice UK, set to broadcast early next year. The potential judging panel is said to include Sir Tom Jones, Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher as a duo, along with newcomer Kelly Rowland, reports the Mirror. A source revealed to The Sun that Cheryl was taking "baby steps" in her television career and represented the "obvious choice" to guide team when the reimagined Battle Rounds commence. "Cheryl and first worked together 16 years ago and have remained good friends ever since," the insider revealed. Former One Direction star Liam tragically plunged to his death from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires during October, at just 31 years old. Following their two-year romance which ended in 2018, Cheryl was granted joint responsibility for overseeing Liam's £24 million estate alongside an entertainment industry solicitor. With several months having elapsed since Liam's tragic passing, our insider suggested Cheryl feels prepared to demonstrate to both the public and herself that she remains a formidable presence. "She's not doing it for the money or for fame, she's had the most incredible career already. It's about proving she's strong and capable after so much heartache, and letting Bear see that too," they explained. "It's probably going to be the biggest challenge she's faced but she's determined to do it – and to do it well." Cheryl's most recent major television appearance was as a dance captain on the BBC's The Greatest Dancer, before taking on a starring role in the West End production 2:22 A Ghost Story during 2023. Public relations specialist Lynn Carratt reckons Cheryl's extensive background positions her perfectly for a successful comeback, though she must be emotionally equipped for renewed public scrutiny. "Let's not forget, Cheryl's whole career has been built around music talent shows," she told new. She won Popstars: The Rivals with Girls Aloud and worked on The X Factor so she's been in the same position as the contestants – they'll really relate to her experience and authenticity in that area. "But she's had so much going on, overcoming the death of Liam, looking after Bear and her stalker hell. This could be a good way of easing herself back into the public eye, after months in the wilderness." The opportunity might prove "bittersweet" for Cheryl, Lynn suggests, given that one of Liam's final television ventures was Netflix's Building The Band, which launches this week on the platform. "It's probably quite nerve-wracking for her too," Lynn continued. "And good that she could be a mentor and not a full-time judge." Liam's passing also occurred merely three years following Cheryl's loss of Girls Aloud colleague Sarah Harding, who passed away just two months before reaching 40 from breast cancer. Beyond the Girls Aloud comeback tour alongside Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl has maintained a deliberately low profile. Lynn observed that Cheryl has consistently remained the most reserved when it comes to public attention and never truly embraced the instant stardom that followed the group's Popstars: The Rivals victory 23 years ago. "She'll turn up and do the Girls Aloud tour and she'll be on TV, but then she'll go away and you might not see her for a long time," she stated. "She's very focused now on being a mum to Bear. He's still young but he's growing up and since Liam's death, she's probably wanted to be there for him a lot more. She's a single parent now – there's no escaping that – so she has to pick her jobs carefully." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
