Chandigarh: Lawyer, 2 friends attacked in brawl over tea order near Sector-17 ISBT
In a bizarre brawl, an advocate and his two friends were assaulted by five assailants near the Sector-17 ISBT on early Friday morning over a misunderstanding about a tea order, leaving one with broken teeth.
Complainant Thakur Abhay Singh Chima, 24, a practising advocate at the District Courts Complex, Sector 43, told police that he had gone to visit his friends Kartik Chauhan and Ashutosh Sharma in Sector 37-D on Thursday night.
Around 2.30 am, they drove to the Sector-17 ISBT to have tea. They parked their car and approached a tea stall on foot.
Chima said as he placed an order for three cups of tea, five young men already standing near the stall absurdly took offence, believing that he was addressing them for the tea order.
An altercation erupted and despite him clarifying that the order was made to the stall owner and not them, they got aggressive, Chima alleged. 'Enraged, they started hitting us,' the complainant stated.
During the scuffle, one of the attackers allegedly retrieved a metallic 'plate-like' object from a grey Hyundai Santro car parked nearby and used it to assault the victims. The others rained punches and kicks on the three friends.
Chima suffered injuries to the left eye and the back of the head. His friend Kartik sustained serious injuries, including broken front teeth, and wounds on his head and eye. Ashutosh also sustained injuries above the left eye.
Before police could arrive, the assailants fled the scene in the Santro. The victims were transported to GMSH, Sector 16, for medical treatment by a patrolling police team.
On Chima's complaint, an FIR was lodged under Sections 191 (2), 190, 115 (2) and 117 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the assailants at the Sector-17 police station.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits.

According to Arvind Kumar, station house officer of BPTP police station, Kritika was returning from a gaming zone in Sector 12. 'She was heading to Sector 86 with four friends, all of whom had just cleared Class 12 exams. The Scorpio is registered to her father,' Kumar added. An FIR under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including rash driving, causing grievous injury, and obstruction of duty, was registered at BPTP police station based on the constable's accused, who tested negative for intoxication in a medical examination, was arrested shortly after the incident and has since been released on bail, officers said.

Two young techie employees, identified as Bhatula Bhargav Yadav and Chethi Varshith, died in a car crash in Hyderabad's Edulabad in early hours of Sunday after returning from a party that concluded at a farmhouse. In a separate incident, a 24-year-old law student lost his life in Haryana's Nuh after his car crashed into a stationary truck from behind on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway early Saturday morning. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera. 37-year-old man dies in car-truck collision in Wagholi
A 37-year-old man lost his life after his car collided with a truck in the Wagholi area on Saturday. The incident took place at around 4 am at Gade Wasti Chowk when the car, driven by the victim, crashed into a truck that allegedly took a sudden turn without warning. The deceased has been identified as Yuvraj Patil, a resident of Dudulgaon Alandi. Preliminary investigation suggests that the truck driver made an abrupt turn, leaving the car driver with no time to react. The resulting impact was severe, causing fatal injuries to the car driver, who was pronounced dead on the spot. After the accident, the truck driver escaped from the spot. Police officials have registered a case against the unknown truck driver. 'We have taken note of the complaint and initial findings point to negligence on the part of the truck driver. Appropriate legal action will be taken after reviewing CCTV footage and eyewitness statements,' said a police officer. Based on the complaint filed by the brother of the deceased Aniruddha Patil, an FIR has been filed against the unknown truck driver under sections 281,106(1) of the BNS and sections 184,132(1),134 of the MVA.
