Ensure strict vigil for CET exams on July 26, 27, says Haryana CM Saini
This will enable timely suspension of internet services in sensitive areas, if required, and help ensure that the examination is conducted in a completely peaceful and fair manner.
Approximately 13.48 lakh candidates will appear in the CET examination at 834 centres.
The Chief Minister was chairing a meeting here to review arrangements regarding the CET examination.
An official statement quoting the Chief Minister said this is the first time the CET examination is being conducted on such a large scale by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC).
He instructed that videography of the entire process, from the storage of question papers to their arrival at the examination centres, must be ensured to maintain transparency.
CM Saini said stringent measures should be taken to prevent the presence of any anti-social elements around examination centres.
In addition, social media should be closely monitored to ensure that any attempt to spread rumours or misinformation related to the examination can be promptly identified and prevented.
The Chief Minister said while ensuring sufficient availability of buses during the CET examination, the Transport Department should also make adequate arrangements for public transport in view of the upcoming Teej festival. This will help ensure that citizens across the state do not face any inconvenience.
He also appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel on July 26 and 27, the days of the CET examination, to maintain a smooth and uninterrupted traffic system.
The Chief Minister further instructed the district administration to make special arrangements in districts from where buses have to travel more than 100 km to reach the examination centres.
He also directed to keep reserve buses ready to handle any emergencies. In addition, the Chief Minister said 112 emergency response services should be integrated into the transport arrangements for both examination days to ensure timely assistance, if required.
All candidates should be facilitated to reach their examination centres at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time, CM Saini said.

From free bus service, adequate police deployment to traffic diversions, the Haryana government has made all the arrangements for the Common Eligibility Test (CET) scheduled to be held across the state on July 26 and 27. Those who clear this examination, conducted by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission, will figure on the merit list for government recruitment at various levels. 'All necessary arrangements have been made for the CET. For convenience of candidates, special bus service has been arranged to ensure smooth transportation to examination centres. To support female candidates, one accompanying family member shall also be allowed to travel free of cost in the buses,' said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. A spokesperson of the transport department said, 'Transport department has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring safe transport for the candidates coming to examination centres and going back home after appearing in the CET Group-C examination scheduled to be held across the centres set up in all districts and in Chandigarh. Around 12,000 buses will be deployed, operating in accordance with both examination sessions each day. For the morning session (10:00 am – 11:45 am), transportation will be provided to the candidates to the nearest examination centre bus stop by 7:00 am, and for the afternoon session (3:15 pm – 5:00 pm), by 12:00 noon. Wherever feasible, free shuttle service will also be arranged to take candidates to the final examination venue from the drop-off points.' 'To avail themselves of the benefit, only the admit card needs to be shown by the passengers. All candidates are advised to reach their nearest depot/sub-depot bus stand well before the departure time to make full use of the free transportation service being provided by the government,' the spokesperson added. 'Due to the heavy deployment of buses for examination duty, only limited buses will be available for the general public on these two days. Hence, the public is requested to travel only for urgent purpose,' the spokesperson said. The Haryana State Transport operates around 4,000 buses from 24 depots and 13 sub-depots, covering nearly 11 lakh kilometres daily and serving approximately 10 lakh passengers each day. The Haryana Police too has made comprehensive security arrangements across the state. Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur issued necessary instructions to senior police officers in all districts. On the day of the examination, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) will be enforced within a 500-metre radius of all examination centres. 'All district police chiefs will inspect the examination centres a day prior to the exam along with the respective Deputy Commissioners and will personally patrol on the day of the exam to ensure that the recruitment examination is conducted fairly and without any disruptions. Additionally, Deputy Commissioners have been directed to appoint an adequate number of duty magistrates for the exam. Instructions have stated that a large number of candidates arrive at the respective stations by train or bus the evening before the exam and then travel via auto-rickshaws and taxis to hotels and lodges near the examination centres. To avoid disorder due to the crowd, additional traffic duties have been directed to be deployed. The district police have been directed to establish checkpoints and inspect all suspicious vehicles arriving from outside the city starting from the evening before the exam. This activity will continue until the completion of the examination,' the police spokesperson said. 'Only authorised persons are allowed entry into the examination centres. Invigilators inside the examination halls will not be allowed to carry mobile phones or electronic gadgets,' the spokesperson added. No vehicles will be allowed to be parked within a 200-meter radius of the examination centres. On the day of the exam, photocopy/printing shops near the centres will be ordered to remain closed. During the examination, the district police will communicate exclusively through local wireless networks. DGP Kapur has appealed to the citizens of the state, candidates, and their guardians to cooperate with the police and immediately report any suspicious activity to 112 or the local police. He assured that the Haryana Police is fully committed to ensuring that CET-2025 is conducted in a fair and peaceful manner.

High-tension wires passing over residential areas will be removed: Haryana CM
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, while making a series of announcements for the Badhra Assembly constituency, on Thursday, said high-tension electricity wires passing over residential areas will be removed. For this job, Rs 3 crore will be provided to the Electricity Department, and the government will bear the entire cost. In addition, the Chief Minister announced that a new grain market will be established in Badhra once suitable land is made available. He also announced the construction of a vegetable market in Hadouda village, subject to feasibility assessment, and the inclusion of Jhojhu Kalan village under the Mahagram Yojana. The government schools in Mahrana and Dhani Phogat villages will also be upgraded to the senior secondary level following a feasibility review. CM Saini, while announcing measures to strengthen the road network in the constituency, said 100 roads covering a total length of 311.20 km, currently under the Defect Liability Period (DLP), will be repaired. He also announced Rs 20.40 crore for the repair of 12 PWD roads spanning 48.31 km. Special repairs will also be carried out on five roads measuring 13.80 km under the Marketing Board in the Badhra area.

‘Mane Manege Police' initiative launched in Karnataka's Shivamogga district
The 'Mane Manege Police' (Police to Every Home), a new initiative to establish people-friendly policing, was launched in Karnataka's Shivamogga district on Thursday. District and Sessions Judge Manjunath Nayak launched the initiative by lighting a lamp in a programme held at Ramanna Shreshthi Park in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nayak told the police staff to listen to people's problems in a cordial manner and address them effectively. The public should also cooperate with the police to make the programme a success, he said. A good relationship between the police and the public, he said, was essential in ensuring harmony in society. 'Normally, people do not wish to visit a police station, nor do they expect the police to visit them at home. The government has launched this initiative to make the police administration people-friendly. I appreciate the Home Department for this programme,' he said. The judge said it would be better if the police chose not to wear uniforms when they visit homes, and take children into confidence during the interaction. He also suggested the public to follow the suggestions of the police. Superintendent of Police G.K. Mithun Kumar said that the public continued to possess fear about the police because of the measures the police resorted to in order to control the public during the freedom movement. 'The people still consider police as a legacy of the British. The State government has launched the initiative to clear this notion. Besides that, the people have misconceptions about the police after watching cinemas and serials. I hope this initiative will ensure a good relationship between the police and the people,' he opined. He appealed to the public to share whatever problems they faced with the police during their visit. 'We will make honest efforts to resolve them,' he stated. Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Bhoomaredd and other officers were present.
