‘Seems to have been taken in Pizza Express in Woking': Princess Eugenie's jaw-dropping gaffe

Sky News AU2 days ago
Princess Eugenie has appeared to inadvertently remind the public of Prince Andrew's public fall from grace while posting a birthday tribute to her elder sister Princess Beatrice.
Beatrice marked her 37th birthday last week and her only sister Eugenie led the celebrations with a warm message shared via her official Instagram account.
'Happy happy birthday to my dearest Beabea.. my big sissy, the best in the entire world,' she wrote alongside a carousel of photos with Beatrice.
In one of the snaps, Beatrice and Eugenie are seen tucking into an Italian-style panini.
Unfortunately for the Princesses of York, the panini photo drew immediate comparisons to Prince Andrew's infamous 'Pizza Express' story from his notorious BBC Newsnight interview.
The pizza story was clearly front of mind for social media users, some of whom took to Eugenie's comment section and pointed out the unfortunate coincidence.
'Seems to have been taken in Pizza Express in Woking. A regular haunt,' one commenter wrote.
During the career-ending BBC interview, Andrew denied having sex with Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre because on that night he took his daughter to a 'Pizza Express in Woking'.
'I was with the children and I'd taken Beatrice to a Pizza Express in Woking for a party at I suppose four or five in the afternoon,' Andrew said.
'And then because the duchess (Fergie) was away, we have a simple rule in the family that when one is away the other is there.'
Pizza Express is a British-based fast food chain serving up Italian-style favourites on a budget.
The Duke of York's ties to Epstein have been back in the British press in recent weeks due to the publication of a new biography by Andrew Lownie.
Reportedly, the new book has garnered sympathy for the Princesses, who are seen as 'collateral' damage amid their parents' scandals.
'All they have ever done is stand by their parents in the most horrific public circumstances,' a source close to the Princesses told The Daily Beast's Tom Sykes.
'I don't think it's fair to criticise them for (their parents).
'They're sweet girls who understand that they are immensely privileged, and have always been grateful for the privilege they've had, and have tried to use it to do the right thing.'

Darius Campbell Danesh' ex-wife remembers him on third anniversary of death

Darius Campbell Danesh' ex-wife, Natasha Henstridge, has paid tribute to the late singer on the third anniversary of his death. The former Pop Idol contestant passed away at the age of 41 in August 2022 after inhaling chloroethane - also known as ethyl chloride - at his Minnesota apartment. Three years on from the tragedy, the 50-year-old Canadian actress - who filed for divorce from the Colourblind hitmaker in 2013, after just over two years of marriage - has admitted she still misses him dearly. Alongside a series of pictures of Darius, including one of the couple posing in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, she penned on Instagram on August 11: "Love and light always. Miss you today…. Sending love to the Danesh's and everyone whose life he touched." According to his girlfriend, Darius had been "living with a broken neck" and an undiagnosed heart condition when he died. Lauren Cheek explained that an autopsy revealed that his heart was "twice the size" it should have been and that she believes he used the recreational anaesthetic to alleviate the pain. She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Darius was living with this heart condition that he didn't know he had. So many things could have taken him, but this one thing did, and he died in his sleep. "His mum told me they only found out after they did the autopsy. His heart was twice the size it was supposed to be, which was fitting, because that is genuinely how he was — he had so much love. "The autopsy also found he was living with a broken neck, but he refused to get help or complain about it. I think he used (chloroethane) because he was in so much pain and he didn't want to take pills, not even aspirin. That's what killed him — the substance mixed with his heart and he couldn't take it." Lauren went on to add that Darius - who shot to fame when he gave a memorable rendition of Britney Spears' hit '...Baby One More Time' on the ITV talent show Popstars before releasing a string of hit singles and eventually going on to star in the West End - had sustained his injuries whilst racing with Hollywood actor Gerard Butler and always "refused" when she urged him to see a doctor. She added: "He was with Gerry (Butler) in Monaco for the Grand Prix and they slammed into a wall during a race with the Prince of Monaco. I don't think it ever fully healed and then he rebroke it because he got hit by a car in London a year or two before he died when he was riding a bike. "And then he got into a car accident with his dad in Scotland. D was in the passenger seat, his dad was driving and someone drove into them. "He was always in pain and I would beg him to see the doctor, but he refused. He was trying to find a natural remedy.'

Bindi Irwin gives emotional health update after endometriosis surgery

Bindi Irwin has had her appendix and '51 endometriosis lesions' removed. The 27-year-old Australian star — the daughter of late Crocodile Hunter legend Steve Irwin — has given an update amid her long battle with endometriosis following her diagnosis in 2023, which came after a decade of chronic pain. She wrote on Instagram this week alongside a smiling selfie: '13 years of fighting for answers. '51 endometriosis lesions, a chocolate cyst, and my appendix were all removed across two surgeries with @seckinmd. 'My hernia from giving birth that was unzipping — was taken care of. 'I can FINALLY say that I'm feeling better. Genuinely healing.' Endometriosis is a disease where abnormal tissue grows outside the uterus. Irwin underwent emergency surgery in May, which meant she missed a gala honouring her father, who died in 2006. Now, she added that after her health struggles — which she's been very candid about with fans — she's finally able to 'function' again. 'I cannot express the gravity of my emotions as I am beginning to recognise myself again. 'I felt utterly ashamed as a teenager and young adult being told that my pain was just part of being a woman. 'I felt lesser. I felt hurt. I felt weak. That is not OK.' The conservationist and activist — who has daughter Grace Warrior, four, with husband Chandler Powell — is keen to get rid of the 'stigma' around conversations about women's health and health care. Bindi missed her late dad's annual gala in May after rupturing her appendix, and her brother Robert explained her absence at the time. He told People magazine: 'She's going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them. She's just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes. Health is so important — it really is.'
