Torino and Bologna have been named in the race for the midfielder's signature.
But it's Udinese who are edging closer to breaking Motherwell's record transfer fee received, according to Herald Sports.
They understand that the team who finished 12th in the Italian top-flight last season have held 'fresh discussions' following a long period of interest.
Early this year, they had a bid believed to be around £2.5million thrown out, with Union St-Gilloise also said to have been rejected for even more.
But this time, the offer is coming in at £4.5million for the 18-year-old, exceeding the £3.25million received from Celtic for David Turnbull in 2020.
Miller has been absent in competitive fixtures for Jens Berthel Askou since the season began following a minor injury picked up in a friendly against Carlisle.
With the Scottish Premiership now well underway and the Serie A's start just a few weeks away, Udinese reportedly want to seal the deal in the coming week.
Speaking last month when the teenager sensation was nowhere to be seen in a League Cup match against Greenock Morton, 'Well manager Askou said: 'He wasn't able to be here but I will hopefully see him on Thursday after our day off and we will take it from there.
'There are lots of rumours on Lennon.
'I have heard a lot of funny stories but he is still a Motherwell player.
Motherwell and Rangers fans displays ahead of Premiership opener
'We are very happy to have him and he is happy to be here.
'When there is something concrete, we will say. But I look forward to seeing him this week.'
If the move is confirmed Miller would be the next in a line of Scottish talents playing their trade in Italy.
Scott McTominay picked up a Balon D'or nomination after a stellar league-winning season at Napoli, where he plays alongside Billy Gilmour.
There was silverware too for Lewis Ferguson at Bologna in the form of the Italian Cup.
Also out there are Che Adams with Torino, ex-Hibs kid Josh Doig at Sassuolo, and former Celtic man Liam Henderson plays for Empoli.

Marco Silva hails Rodrigo Muniz for shutting out ‘noise' to earn Fulham point

Brazilian forward Muniz, who has been linked with Italian side Atalanta amid reports he wants to play Champions League football, came off the bench to equalise six minutes into added time at the Amex Stadium. The Cottagers looked set to suffer defeat on the opening weekend of the season after falling behind to Matt O'Riley's 55th-minute penalty following Sander Berge's foul on Georginio Rutter. 'I think he deserves respect for that,' replied Silva when asked about 24-year-old Muniz being available to make an impact during uncertainty about his future. 'Rodrigo is still young and the way you can grow in your career is until the end, in my opinion. 'The last two seasons he proved himself as a Premier League striker and I'm sure that this season he's going to be even better. 'He showed everybody, for the noise around him, how he's a professional football player and how he respects myself and the team-mates as well. 'Sometimes it's not easy the rumours around themselves, the people around themselves, you are talking about their jobs as well. 'But I think he's going to handle in the future even better these type of moments.' Muniz celebrated by holding up a Fulham scarf in front of the delirious travelling fans after taking a touch and firing into the bottom right corner following Harry Wilson's corner. Silva singled out the special relationship between the player, who joined from Flamengo in 2021 and hit 11 goals last term, and the club's supporters. 'Rodrigo created something with the Fulham fans that is not so easy to do,' said Silva. 'First of all they recognise his quality and secondly he is a player that always gives everything for the shirt. It's nice to see that he scored and that connection is always there.' Brighton dropped 22 points from winning positions last season. Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler rued his side's lack of ruthlessness but refused to be too downbeat following a familiar story. 'I think that was the only shot they had during the game, so that's something we have to do better,' he said of the late leveller. 'Of course we all wanted to win today and everyone is disappointed in the locker room. But we also have to accept in the last action there is luck sometimes in football and sometimes we are the unlucky team and today we were the unlucky team. 'In the second half we created a lot of chances. Of course we could be more ruthless and score a second goal, but overall I'm very pleased with how together we were. 'It's always the question of perspective – is the glass half full or half empty? For me, it's always full and we really should focus on the things we do well.'

Derek McInnes admits he ‘got the game the wrong way round' as Hearts exit cup

The Jambos had won each of their six outings this season but their momentum was halted – and their long wait for a first League Cup triumph since 1962 extended – as the Buddies prevailed in the shootout following a 1-1 draw in which Oisin McEntee's 78th-minute equaliser cancelled out Alex Gogic's first-half opener for the hosts. Hearts substitute Claudio Braga was the only one of the 10 penalty takers who failed to score after his kick was saved by Shamal George. McInnes was heartened by the way his side rallied to get back in the game but admitted their lacklustre start was partly down to the fact he pitched in too many new players, with Tomas Bent Magnusson and Pierre Landry Kabore handed their first starts and Alexandros Kyziridis given his second start. All three summer signings were substituted for the start of the second half. 'I'm disappointed to exit the cup, congratulations to St Mirren, they've won a tight tie on penalties,' said manager McInnes. 'I think the type of game it was in extra time, I'd love to have been bringing Kyziridis and Kabore on. Maybe we got the game the wrong way round a wee bit, and that's on me. 'Maybe we had just one too many of the new lads starting the game. That was a typical cup tie, away from home against a St Mirren team who were top six last season. 'Sometimes you've got to give players a run, but maybe we just fell short on that side and that's probably on me. 'But that's not the reason we lost the tie because we got ourselves in a good position. I just wanted us to hammer home that authority (after equalising) and a Hearts team should be able to do that going forward.' St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson was delighted with the fight his team showed to reach the last eight. 'In the first half we were outstanding,' he said. 'We played some fantastic football, we pressed the life out of them. And then second half, we didn't do the simple things well enough and Hearts dominated the ball. 'And the subs that Hearts are bringing on, with a lot of money invested in the squad, you're obviously going to have to defend and we've done that with some super performances. 'Penalties becomes a little bit of a lottery but we've got an excellent goalkeeper so we had real faith that he would save at least one.'
