Couple Filmed Discarding Waste On Canada Roadside Sparks Outrage: "They've Destroyed India"

NDTV14-07-2025
A video allegedly showing a couple dumping trash on a Canadian roadside has gone viral, sparking heated online debate and racial backlash. In the video, the couple can be seen throwing stuff from plastic bags on a quiet, wooded roadside area in Canada. Many online users believe the couple is of Indian origin, sparking a wave of racial criticism on social media directed towards Indians. The contents of the bags are also unclear, but online users are speculating that the couple was dumping trash.
The user who posted the video, Bruce, captioned it with a comment that sparked controversy: "They've destroyed India. We can't let them destroy Canada next."

The video sparked widespread criticism, with some users accusing the couple of reflecting poorly on Indians. Many expressed outrage and disappointment, condemning the couple for polluting Canada, while others defended them, suggesting they might have been feeding wildlife. Some said that there was no definitive indication that the couple was of Indian nationality.
One user said, "Are they mad? Why can't they throw the same in a dustbin? Someone should catch them and hand them over to the police; they should not leave unless they pay heavy penalty.''
A second commented, "They might have been throwing food for some wildlife and took the plastic bags back with them. Please don't generalise. Also, read about how much they contribute to the Canadian economy."
A third stated, "Blaming an entire nation for littering is unfair and unhelpful. Cleanliness is about civic responsibility, not nationality. Yes, some people lack civic sense, and Indians are also tired of them."
A fourth added, "What's the proof that they are indians? They could be Pakistanis, Bangladeshi and Nepalese; they look exactly like us, but you don't have any proof that they are Indians. I really don't care who they are, but if they are Indian,s put them behind bars or fine them heavily because they are destroying my country's name."
A fifth wrote, "Could they be feeding birds or some wild animal? Could it be bread or something similar? Or perhaps flowers for a ritual? Does anyone know the area and what exists at that spot? Because they didn't throw the plastic bags — they kept them."
In Canada, illegal dumping can result in fines up to $150,000 and even imprisonment. Residents can report incidents to municipal authorities or hotlines.

8 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants detained in Gurugram, to face deportation

Gurugram, Jul 25 (PTI) Eight Bangladeshi nationals have been detained here as part of an ongoing drive to identify illegal immigrants and they will be deported, police said on Friday. Some Indian and Bangladeshi identification documents were recovered from these people, they said. As part of the drive to identify illegal immigrants, police are vetting identities of domestic workers, street vendors, tenants and people living in slums and construction sites. Eight Bangladeshi citizens who were staying illegally in Gurugram have been identified and detained under the Foreigners Act, 1946, police said. Apart from Bangladeshi identity documents, some Indian documents were also recovered from them. They obtained Aadhaar cards and other Indian documents by showing local addresses of Gurugram. Most of them used the addresses of their rented houses, police said. They said strict instructions have been given to landlords in Gurugram to complete police verification of their tenants before renting houses to them. According to police, many illegal migrants have now gone underground. In the absence of valid documents, they are moving towards rural areas or other cities. view comments First Published: July 25, 2025, 14:30 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Fake Diplomat Arrested In Ghaziabad Had Set Up 'East India Company' Among Many Others

Last Updated: Harsh Vardhan Jain, the fake diplomat arrested from Ghaziabad, had set up a shell company named East India Company UK Limited as part of his fraudulent network. Harsh Vardhan Jain, who was arrested in Ghaziabad on charges of representing himself as a self-styled diplomat, had set up multiple shell companies, one also in the name of East India Company UK Limited, India Today reported. Investigations into the case had earlier revealed that Jain owned a fleet of luxury cars bearing fake diplomatic number plates, kept some forged documents, satellite phones, morphed photos with top Indian leaders, and had a web of shell companies allegedly used for hawala transactions. According to the report, other than the East India Company, the other companies that Jain had set up were named State Trading Corporation, Island General Trading Co LLC (Dubai), Indira Overseas Ltd (Mauritius), and Cameron Ispat Sarl (Africa). 'West Arctica", 'Saborga", 'Lodonia", and 'Poulvia" were among fictitious 'countries' the Ghaziabad man claimed to have represented as a self-styled diplomat while operating their bogus 'embassies' from his rented residence less than 35 km from Delhi. A cursory internet search revealed that 'West Arctica" is a non-profit for climate action and an unrecognised micronation in Antarctica, 'Lodonia" is a micronation (a self-declared entity but not officially recognised as nation) in southern Sweden. Similar searches for Saborga and Poulvia yielded few results. The 'diplomat" was working out of the 'consulate" which also hoisted 'flags" of these 'nations" and multiple luxury cars with special blue coloured number plates parked outside, police said. The conman's elaborate deception, however, came to an end on July 23, when the Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force (STF) arrested him and uncovered a stash that included 44.7 lakh in cash, foreign currencies, multiple forged diplomatic passports, and 18 fake diplomatic number plates. A FAKE DIPLOMAT, HIS BOGUS COMPANIES Commenting on the development, Additional Director General of Police Amitabh Yash on Wednesday said Jain was running the bogus embassy out of a rented property while projecting himself as a consul or ambassador of micronations. 'The accused was running the bogus embassy from a rented house and projected himself as a consul or ambassador of these made-up countries and moved around in vehicles bearing fake diplomatic number plates," said Yash. He added that Jain allegedly used morphed photographs showing himself with prominent figures like the Prime Minister, the President, and other dignitaries to mislead people and gain influence. Jain, Yash said, was also previously associated with controversial godman Chandraswami and international arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. In 2011, Jain was booked for the recovery of an illegal satellite phone, also at Kavi Nagar police station. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Yash Dayal Faces Rape Allegations: FIRs Filed in Jaipur and Ghaziabad

Indian cricketer Yash Dayal, who plays for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL, is facing serious legal trouble. A new FIR (police report) has been filed against him in Jaipur, where a young woman has accused him of rape and emotional blackmail over two years. She was 17 years old when the first incident reportedly happened. The case is being handled under the POCSO Act, which protects minors. According to reports, Yash Dayal promised her help in cricket and allegedly assaulted her in a hotel in Sitapura. This is the second case against Dayal. Earlier in Ghaziabad, another woman accused him of sexually exploiting her by falsely promising marriage. The Allahabad High Court has given a temporary stay on his arrest in that case. So far, RCB and BCCI have not commented on the matter.
