Lil Wayne's ‘Tha Carter VI' First Week Sales Projections Paint A Telling Picture
The album is projected to open with 110,000 album-equivalent units sold, according to Hits Daily Double, placing it at No. 2 on the Billboard 200—just behind country music juggernaut Morgan Wallen's chart-topping album I'm the Problem.
Of those 110,000 units, 35,000 were physical copies, demonstrating continued fan interest in tangible editions of Weezy's music.
Despite this respectable debut, Tha Carter VI marks a decline in first-week sales compared to Wayne's previous efforts. His 2020 release Funeral debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 139,000 units.
Even more notably, Tha Carter V sold a massive 480,000 units in its debut week back in 2018, underscoring a noticeable slide in first-week performance over the years.
While some fans celebrated the return of the iconic Carter series, others were less enthused. Critics and longtime listeners alike have voiced disappointment over the project's consistency and innovation.
At the 2025 BET Awards, Lil Wayne delivered a fiery performance, reigniting nostalgia with his classic single 'A Milli' and his more recent cut, 'Welcome to the Carter.'
The performance reminded audiences of the lyrical powerhouse he once was, even as Tha Carter VI sparked mixed reactions. While loyal fans welcomed the album as a continuation of a legendary legacy, many deemed it a lackluster effort from an artist once considered untouchable in Hip-Hop.
In short, Tha Carter VI achieved solid first-week numbers, but its muted reception and declining sales reflect the evolving landscape of Wayne's career—and the high expectations that still surround his name.

Morgan Wallen's Debut Album Rises Higher Than Ever
Morgan Wallen's debut album If I Know Me reaches a new peak of No. 33 on Billboard's Top Streaming ... More Albums chart as it climbs on all three tallies it appears on. AUSTIN, TX - MAY 04: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY. NO COMMERCIAL USE) Morgan Wallen performs live during the Daytime Village at the 2019 iHeartCountry Festival Presented by Capital One at the Frank Erwin Center on May 4, 2019 in Austin, Texas. (Photo byfor iHeartMedia) Morgan Wallen's albums are so big and packed with hit songs that they've become constant fixtures in the highest reaches of the Top Streaming Albums chart in the United States. The country singer-songwriter regularly claims several spaces inside that competitive region, just as he does this frame with his three most recent projects. If I Know Me, the album that started it all for Wallen, has never climbed quite as high as its successors, but this is a very special week for that introductory project. If I Know Me Reaches a New Chart Peak If I Know Me rises five spaces on the current edition of the Top Streaming Albums chart. Wallen's first studio effort jumps from No. 38 to No. 33, and in doing so, it reaches a new peak position on the tally, which ranks the most-played projects on sites like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and others in every tracking period. Morgan Wallen's Longest-Charting Streaming Wins If I Know Me debuted on the Top Streaming Albums list in October 2023, alongside both Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing at a Time. Unlike those sets, however, If I Know Me has not remained on the ranking since then, as it has now racked up just 21 stays on the streaming-only tally. Both Dangerous and One Thing at a Time have managed 91 frames on the ranking so far. Three Top 10s on the Top Streaming Albums List Wallen has sent both of those studio efforts, as well as his latest blockbuster I'm the Problem, into the top five on the Top Streaming Albums chart. One Thing at a Time and I'm the Problem have each spent months at No. 1, while Dangerous stalled at fourth place. Currently, Wallen occupies three spaces inside the top streaming albums chart's top 10. I'm the Problem holds at No. 1, as it has now spent all eight of its weeks on the tally in the top spot. One Thing at a Time climbs a single rung to No. 3, while Dangerous holds steady at No. 7. If I Know Me Rises on Multiple Billboard Charts If I Know Me is also climbing on all three Billboard charts where it makes a home, even though consumption is slightly down. The collection moved just over 15,800 equivalent units in the latest span (per Luminate), a dip from 16,000 the week prior. That doesn't stop If I Know Me from lifting from No. 10 to No. 8 on the Top Country Albums tally, and from No. 49 to No. 41 on the Billboard 200.

Ye Fans Demand Refunds Following Chaotic Shanghai Concert, Member Of Rapper's Team Responds
Update: 6:00 p.m. PT (July 14, 2025) – One of Ye's musical directors reached out to VIBE regarding the Shanghai controversy and clarified what actually happened from an internal perspective. 'We put together a hell of a set and the show was incredible. [Ye] performed for almost 2 hours STRAIGHT in the RAIN only taking one water break, so he wouldn't pass out. Some of them production elements were first of its kind and have never been done before […] This is for sure going to be his comeback tour. Just need the world to be able to hear about it without the negativity,' the statement read. Read our original story below… Fans of Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, are demanding refunds after claiming the controversial rapper put on a chaotic show in Shanghai, China on Saturday (July 12). One reported attendee live-tweeted the entire ordeal and claimed Ye started the show over 45 minutes late. 'So I've been a fan of Kanye West since I was a teen. 'MBDTF' opened my ears to the sonics in music. Was hard to get tix for him in Shanghai but got it. Was hyped af. Couldn't even sleep night before. But. Worst concert I've ever been to. @kanyewest u can be better,' he tweeted with footage of the Chicago native performing 'Famous' into 'All Of The Lights.' The guest accused Ye of 'mostly lip synching' during the show and that 'his microphone must have been up less than 20% of the time.' During the encore, the rapper also allegedly 'disappeared for over 20 minutes at one point with tracks like 'Wolves' just played out with him nowhere in sight.' The tweet read, 'I could have just played your music at home man. Came to see u perform????' Ye reportedly 'stayed in the circle so nobody could actually see him closely even if you were vip' and 'wore a mask the entire show.' The guest claimed Ye 'kept stopping mid-songs' and seemed unhappy with the setlist. 'He kept complaining about the order of the songs and repeatedly started tracks and then asked to stop and come back to those later […] He seemed genuinely disengaged as if the show was some kind of contractual obligation. Only audience interaction was walking around and saying let me [hear] some noise,' the attendee tweeted. Other footage surfaced of guests demanding refunds. The initial tweeter concluded his rant by stating, '@kanyewest you should not tour. It's not for you. Stick to the studio. Drop surprise albums and be that guy. I'm the biggest supporter of (most of) your work. You waste people's time, excitement and money by pretending that you're a performer.' Following the show, Ye thanked his Chinese fans on X. 'Thank you to my fans in China and the Chinese government The energy was amazing Love all of you forever Can't wait till the next show,' said the father of four. He has upcoming shows in Slovakia from July 18 to 20 and in Korea on July 26. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky gathered their children to visit Barbados for her father's funeral. Ronald Fenty was laid to rest on Tuesday (July 8) at Garfield Sobers Gymnasium, according to WIC News. The outlet reported Ronald Fenty died at the end of May at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering from a combination of acute respiratory failure, pancreas cancer, aspiration pneumonia, contributed by acute renal failure, and acute tubular necrosis. In the obituary, Mr. Fenty was remembered as the father of six children, grandfather to 10, and great-grandfather to several more. The document also referred to Rihanna as 'The Right Excellent Robyn Rihanna Fenty,' in acknowledgement of the national honor given to the Grammy winner by Barbados in 2021.
