Under Modi's "visionary leadership," no farmer is left behind. Notable achievements include: Establishment of 43,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), integration of 15,000 Mandis on the e-NAM portal, digital enrollment of nearly 2 crore farmers and 2.6 lakh traders, Rs 3.79 lakh crore in recorded agri-trade over 11 years, MSP allocations growing from Rs 7.41 lakh crore to Rs 23.61 lakh crore, and agricultural support increasing nearly threefold from Rs 8.5 lakh crore to Rs 25.49 lakh crore.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended these efforts, "Today, our farmers are empowered contributors to nation-building with self-respect." BJP President JP Nadda added that PM Modi's leadership has prioritised farmers through schemes like PM-Kisan and PM Fasal Bima Yojana, ensuring they receive deserved dignity and support.

What is the new minimum balance limit for HDFC Bank savings account? As per the new rules announced by HDFC Bank, account holders are now required to keep a minimum of Rs 25,000 in their savings accounts, failing which would invite a penalty from the bank. Earlier, the HDFC Bank had a minimum balance requirement (MBR) of Rs 10,000 for savings accounts. The new MBR rule came into effect from August 1 in metro cities and urban areas, and affects all HDFC Bank customers who open savings accounts on or after the said date. ICICI Bank hikes MBR HDFC Bank's MBR hike came day after ICICI Bank– the country's second-largest bank– increased the minimum balance limit on savings accounts from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 per month. ICICI Bank's MBR hike also came into effect on August 1 and was implemented across all its branches in metro and urban regions. Notably, ICICI Bank also hiked the MBR for savings accounts in its semi-urban branches from Rs 5000 to Rs 25,000 per month, while MBR for savings accounts in branches located in rural areas was increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 per month.

BJP leader Surendran slams LDF, UDF on voter list allegations
Thrissur: Senior BJP leader and former Kerala state president K. Surendran on Wednesday ridiculed both the CPI(M)-led LDF and Congress-led UDF over their allegations of large-scale voter list manipulation in Thrissur, where Union Minister Suresh Gopi is the MP. Speaking to reporters in Thrissur, Surendran questioned how the state's two dominant political fronts remained silent if, as alleged, a party without even a single MLA in Kerala managed to add 60,000 "illegal" votes. "If you couldn't detect such a thing, you should hang yourselves," said Surendran. Surendran asserted that Suresh Gopi would not only win again in 2029 but also in 2034, with an even larger mandate, dismissing the current controversy as an attempt to dent the minister's popularity. "These allegations will only increase public support for him," he claimed. Explaining the BJP's position, Surendran pointed out that the Election Commission now allows three revisions of the voter list annually, compared to one earlier, and that any citizen residing in a constituency for over six months is eligible to register. "Suresh Gopi and his family had rented a house in Thrissur as part of his political work and duly transferred their votes there," added Surendran. He acknowledged that a small number of votes had been shifted from other districts but insisted the figures were negligible. "MLAs and MPs from both the Congress and CPI(M) have votes registered in multiple places. Why is this a problem only when it's Suresh Gopi?" he asked. The BJP leader also criticised the opposition for raising objections based on the claims of "a single woman" rather than following proper legal channels. He cited his own 2016 Assembly election loss by 89 votes, where he later proved 80 fake votes in court without creating a media uproar. "Whether the opposition likes it or not, Suresh Gopi will be here for the long run," Surendran declared, likening the BJP to a "majestic elephant" that would remain unshaken by "small jackals making noise".

DUSU elections to be held on September 18
Synopsis Delhi University has announced that the DUSU elections for the 2025-26 academic year are scheduled for September 18, with vote counting on September 19. Nomination papers must be submitted by September 10, along with the required fee and bond. The university has also provided guidelines and the code of conduct on its website for candidates. New Delhi: The Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections for the 2025-26 academic year will be held on September 18, the university announced on Wednesday. Counting of votes will take place on September 19. According to a DU notification, voting for day classes will be held from 8:30 am to 1 pm, while students of evening classes will cast their votes from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. The last date for receipt of nomination papers, along with a demand draft of Rs 500 as an annual fee and a bond of Rs 1 lakh, is September 10 by 3 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out the same day at 3:15 pm, followed by the publication of the list of duly nominated candidates by 6 pm, the notification said. The deadline for withdrawing nominations is September 11 till noon, and the final list of candidates will be published by 5 pm the same day. For DUSU posts, nomination papers must be submitted to the Office of the Chief Election Officer at the Conference Centre, opposite the Botany Department on North Campus. Nomination papers for Central Council seats must be submitted to the respective colleges or departments. The notification also highlighted that the code of conduct, constitution of DUSU, Supreme Court orders on student union elections, and related guidelines are available on the DU website.
