Dharmasthala burial case: Court restrains media from carrying defamatory content
The order follows a defamation suit filed by the Secretary of Sri Manjunathaswamy Temple, after media reports surfaced citing allegations by a sanitation worker that he was forced by temple supervisors to bury several bodies. The worker, however, did not name Kumar or his family.
X Additional City Civil & Sessions Judge Vijaya Kumar Rai noted the potential reputational harm and stated that such allegations, even if false, could severely impact the temple, its institutions, and students.
'...when an allegation is made against the institution, and temple, it affects a wider range of people including the employees and students who are studying in various colleges and schools. Therefore, even a single false and defamatory publication would seriously affect the functioning of the institutions,' the order stated.
The court also directed the removal or de-indexing of defamatory content already online. Kumar submitted a list of 8,842 defamatory links, including thousands of YouTube videos, Facebook and Instagram posts, news articles, and social media posts.
He argued that no FIR named him or the temple's institutions, and one prior case had resulted in acquittal. Emphasising the need to balance free speech with protection from defamation, the court stated this was an exceptional case of baseless allegations. A John Doe order was also passed to cover unidentified individuals. The matter is set to be heard next on August 5.

Two more held for sending obscene messages to actress Ramya
BENGALURU: Two more persons were arrested on Sunday for allegedly sending vulgar messages to actor and former MP Ramya on Instagram. So far, a total of four accused have been arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) officers in connection with the case. The police said the two arrested individuals have been identified as Rajesh and Bhuvan Gowda. In addition, 11 more individuals have been identified in connection with the online abuse. Efforts are underway to track down the remaining accused, the police added. A CCB officer said, 'We are verifying whether they are fans of a particular actor, but we are taking the case seriously as it involves online abuse.' Ramya filed a complaint with the city police commissioner on July 28 against 43 social media accounts after receiving misogynistic, obscene, and threatening comments, allegedly from fans and fan groups of actor Darshan. This followed her expression of support for the Supreme Court's observations in the Renukaswamy murder case, in which Darshan is the prime accused. She had demanded justice for the victim's family.

55 Years Later, An Emotional Homecoming For Maharashtra Minister At 'Meghdoot'
In a heartwarming moment, Maharashtra's Tourism Minister and Shiv Sena leader Shambhuraj Desai was seen in tears as he stepped into the government bungalow 'Meghdoot,' the very home where he was born and raised over five decades ago. The emotional homecoming unfolded on Sunday, as Desai, accompanied by his family, officially shifted into the Meghdoot bungalow, recently allotted to him under the Mahayuti government. What made the moment even more emotional was that the Grihapravesh (housewarming) ceremony coincided with his mother's birthday. Desai and his mother were quite overwhelmed with emotions. The Meghdoot bungalow was once the official residence of Loknete Balasaheb Desai, the former Home Minister of Maharashtra and grandfather of Shambhuraj Desai. The Desai family lived in this house for many years, and it was during this time, 55 years ago, that Shambhuraj was born here. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had also accepted Desai's personal request to be allotted the same bungalow. On Monday, Minister Desai met with Chief Minister Fadnavis to express his gratitude for the bungalow allotment. He also shared pictures from the meeting on social media platform Instagram. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Shambhuraj Desai (@mlashambhurajdesai) In a separate post, the Tourism Minister gave a glimpse into his new beginnings, sharing images of himself commencing work from his newly allotted residence, 'Meghdoot.'

His phone was found thrown down the highway — and now nobody's seen or heard from him since. We will NOT stay quiet. If you did something to him, we're coming for you. This family don't play about ours. You will be found. You will be exposed. And justice will be served,' she wrote. Berry's post reads, 'I'm just saying I wish and hope my nephew is found and safe but for the people in the back first of all, it's already hard enough that our families got a lot of dysfunctional things that we both know we all could've of worked on when it came to how to handle this and before it got like this while my nephew Might feel like fu** everybody and is possibly scared and confused, but that don't mean my side of the family did something wrong because he hasn't been found.' Hull said in a previous post, 'It's crazy my cousin daddy side of the family isn't sharing any posts looking for THEIR OWN nephew/ cousin/ grandson!!! HMMM WONDER TF WHY????' In another post, Hull described how the family is going through a tough time. 'It's easy to judge when it's not your blood missing,' she wrote. We're living every family's worst fear… and y'all worried about the wrong things. Be thankful it ain't you!!!!!!!'
