Joe Rothwell, who starred for Martin at Southampton, and Max Aarons who was familiar to the Rangers boss from his time at Norwich are two of the Light Blues' new recruits this summer.
Now, according to a report, the Gers have reignited their interest in Samuel Edozie.
The Light Blues made a late move to sign the Southampton winger in the dying stages of the summer transfer window last season.
But they couldn't get a loan deal over the line despite things reportedly reaching an advanced stage.
The Southampton manager at that time was none other than Russell Martin.
At the time, Martin spoke of his frustrations at the deal collapsing.
He said: "What frustrated me was how late it fell through and it wasn't on our end.
"I think it's a bit unfair to Sam really. It's a bit disappointing but it is what it is.
"Every club has their prerogative and their priorities in the transfer window."
Edozie, who was understood to be keen on the move to Ibrox last August, instead ended up spending last season at Anderlecht.

But almost a year on, the move could be back ON.
BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella is reporting that Rangers have seen an offer turned down by Southampton.
He also reports that other clubs are in the frame to sign him.
Reports out of Belgium say Club Brugge, who faced Rangers in a friendly at Ibrox on Sunday, are in talks over a permanent swoop for the winger.
Edozie was in the Millwall academy before moving to Manchester City in 2019.
He made just one appearance for the Premier League giants, starting in the 2021 FA Community Shield.
Edozie joined Southampton on a £10million deal in September 2022 and made 17 Premier League appearances.
He featured more regularly in the Championship the following season as Saints were promoted back under Martin, scoring six goals in 32 games.

After the move to Rangers collapsed last summer, he instead headed for Anderlecht where he played 23 times in the top tier in Belgium.
The wide positions are areas where Rangers are light and they are ramping up their efforts to change that.
The Light Blues are closing in on a deal to sign Djeidi Gassama from Sheffield Wednesday.
The former PSG kid, 21, is valued at around £2.5million.

What can Rangers expect from Club Brugge?

Rangers have already welcomed Club Brugge to Ibrox this summer - in a pre-season friendly back in Martin said neither side can take much from that 2-2 draw and he is right. Both teams will look markedly different at the same venue on Tuesday night.A lot has been made of the step up in class the Belgian side will be from Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen, and that is undoubtedly Hayen's side may have failed to defend their Belgian Pro League title, losing out by three points to Union Saint-Gilloise, but they reached the last 16 of last season's Champions League before losing 6-1 on aggregate to Aston is a feat they have managed twice in the past three seasons, having been in the group or league phase for seven of the past nine campaigns pedigree at this level is summer, though, Brugge sold midfielder Ardon Jashari to AC Milan for around £25m, while left-back Maxim De Cuyper and winger Chemsdine Talbi joined Premier League sides Brighton and Sunderland in multi-million pound their star man, Greece international winger Christos Tzolis, has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace but is in the travelling party to is a big boost for Brugge, as their wide men are key threats. Along with Tzolis down the left, Carlos Forbs caused havoc down the right in the last round against Salzburg and got on the scoresheet in the 3-2 home Portuguese speedster was on loan at Wolves last season and his directness is imposing, along with Tzolis and new signing Mamdou Diakhon from Stade Reims, who could make his midfielder and captain Hans Vanaken has come up with big moments in the Champions League regularly for Brugge and is good for a goal and an assist from Rangers give up 27 shots, like they did in Plzen, they will be punished by Brugge despite their lack of a clinical centre Ibrox side have shown this season, and in previous campaigns, they can produce big nights at Ibrox, and they will need to do so again to reach the league Brugge side are young and far from unbeatable. Ally McCoist brands Celtic 'a Europa League club' 8 months on from Euro success

The Hoops impressed in the Champions League last season and face a playoff to join the elite clubs this season Rangers hero Ally McCoist reckons Celtic are a "Europa League club" - despite securing Champions League progression last season. ‌ Brendan Rodgers' led the Hoops out of the league phase in January last season and will look to join Europe's elite once again by navigating Kairait Almaty in the playoff round. ‌ Seeing off the champions of Kazakhstan would secure a £40million jackpot - but McCoist reckons the club would be punching above their weight. ‌ The Ibrox icon lumped in Rangers with Celtic – as he confessed his beloved team face a tough test in seeing off Club Brugge to reach the league phase promise land. He told talkSPORT: "Taking the first game against Panathinaikos, they were very good, and a great home result in the next round. In the away leg they weren't superb, but I was always confident they were going to go through. "I think this is a different game, the opposition is obviously of a far better standard. I saw Brugge last season and they are a level up. "Financially, it would mean so much to both Scottish clubs if they could make it through to the league phase of the Champions League. "Whether they are equipped to handle Celtic proved last year with a couple of good performances - particularly at home - you can qualify. ‌ "I think both clubs, to be brutally honest, are Europa League clubs at this moment in time. They can certainly go further in that tournament "Celtic have a game against Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan, and I would expect them to qualify. "I really would. Rangers have a chance, I would suggest then go in as second favourites, but financially - just to be able to compete - they have to make it through." ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. Cyriel Dessers throws open Rangers transfer door with major caveat as Ibrox 'bucket list' revealed

The striker has lifted the lid on his previous contact with Club Brugge amid lingering interest from AEK Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers admits he would be open to a return to Belgium after previously holding talks with Club Brugge. ‌ But the Nigeria international says it is too early to make the move away from Ibrox. ‌ The 30-year-old has been tipped for a move away from Rangers throughout the summer with Greek side AEK interest booted out by Rangers. ‌ And with Hamza Igamane facing a uncertain future amid interest from Lille and Feyenoord, a departure for last season's top scorer would leave Danilo as the only option for Russell Martin up front. And speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, Belgium-born Dessers has revealed the Light Blues' Champions League playoff rivals have previously made contact to sign him. The former OH Leuven and Lokeren frontman said: "There were indeed two contacts with Club (Brugge). "Once when (Ivan) Leko was manager there, and the last time when I was playing for Cremonese. But that interest never materialised." Pressed on if he would consider a move back to Belgium - and specifically Club Brugge - Dessers went on: "Why not? "It's still too early anyway, but I've been living abroad for quite a while and I recently bought a house in Mechelen. There are a few Belgian teams I'm particularly fond of." ‌ KV Mechelen was then floated as a potential destination - and Dessers admits the question has been asked by the club previously. "They asked if I could come play for Mechelen. "And I don't think my wife and in-laws would mind either. Although we'll have to see how that works out with my career. "KV Mechelen is a fantastic club. And for the rest, I try to leave as many doors open as possible. You never know what a career will bring." ‌ Dessers goes into the first leg of the £40million Champions League shoot-out as a major injury doubt - and concedes the side are underdogs as he looks to achieve part of his Rangers' dream. He said: "I think it's clear that Club Brugge is the favourite. They're a team that qualified in the Champions League (for the knockout stage) last year – that's quite something. "But I don't think we're an easy team to face either. People sometimes look down on the Scottish league – as if there are only two teams – but it's really not that easy here. "We were also in the quarter-finals of the Europa League last year and, with a bit more luck, could even have reached the semi-finals. Our team is optimistic about this match. We've always been strong in Europe at Ibrox in recent years. "There are three things on my bucket list: to win the championship, to go to a big tournament with Nigeria and play in the Champions League."
